    Kate, consider mentioning how the international socialists, the Strong/Soros/et al. market manipulators, are using brain washing techniques via the MSM to propagate AGW into a religious frenzy in order to achieve their vision of Utopia.
    And how do you suppose everyone will react when it becomes obvious that we are really on track for a cooling trend in climate?

  6. Paula: yes, you can listen to in archive. If Kate so wishes, she can even put it up in this post 15 minutes after the show, so you won’t have to leave this blog if you want to listen to it.

    Perhaps they want your opinion, because it will ring true and make sense. Just a thought.

  11. In a universe of near infinite bandwidth content is King….or Queen in Kate’s case.
    The other immutible law is that good content is valued….so that you have been sought out Kate should not be a surprise.
    You can be many things when you are “broadcast” but boring is not one of them, I dont think you will have any issues there.

  20. Arrogant? not at all – true, more like. Conservatism dos NOT mean the same thing in different parts of the country. In Ontario, Stephen Harper means Reform, and reform is about as far as one can get from Conservatism in Ontario.

  21. There are many Reform types of Conservatives in Ontario – however we are still overwhelmed by the socialist hordes of Red Ttorys, Liberals, Taliban Jack Layton type ND’s and Greenies.
    The large cities are infested as the last provincial election attested that fact.

  23. Sorry Jim, its sad but true. Check out John Tory and the FABULOUS Progressive Conservative Party of Ontario. That guy wears pink shorts, dude. Biiiig time.
    One problem with people in Ontario is that most of them have never been anywhere else. The other problem is most of them live in Toronto. So they never get to see anywhere that doesn’t have the Toronto culture. Water to the fish.
    What Kate said described me -exactly- before I lived in the USA for a couple years. I didn’t really become a hard ass conservative/libertarian until I’d lived in a free country for a while, and listened to Rush Limbaugh every day at the gun shop with my cronies.
    After I got out of the GTA fishbowl I’d visit at Christmas etc. and be shocked at how stupid everyone had become. Its like how nobody in the USA knows anything about Canada. We are NEVER mentioned on TV except if there’s a cold front coming in. We all think the USA is some kind of post-apocalyptic sh1t hole because we NEVER see anything other than that on TV.
    That’s why its nice to have Kate say this kind of stuff and stir up the ants a bit. Lazy ass ants around here need a bit of stirring, you ask me.

    I agree with you regarding conservatism across our nation. There is no differentiation.
    Having said this, Reform and Canadian Alliance (as political parties) did not originate in the East, rather the West. This fact alone speaks to the strength of conservatism in the West versus the East, though perhaps not the flavour.
    I believe is there was a strong enough contingent of conservatives in the East then a political party would have formed here. Again, it’s a question of mass and not philosophy.
    Just my 2c.

  25. That site leaves a lot to be desired. The sound kept cutting in and out and it took about three minutes to type in the comment about line jumpers.
    Other wise a pretty good show. And I bet the lefties are surprised that you don’t sound like Darth Vader on helium.

  26. conservative means different things even to different people, remember I think of Stephen Harper as too far left and told him that to his face. I also told him I am western separatist. pretty good considering Im a displaced bluenose.

  30. Ah, the sound of prairie woman wisdom. Nothing quite like it. A long time ago I noticed that my favourite customers — across the whole age spectrum — are prairie women. I liked the smarts and quite frankly the natural humility too, i.e., the reticence to express strong opinions on subjects you don’t feel you know well enough (e.g. pharmaceuticals).
    Dare I say it?: my kind of sexy!

  32. The puppies added a refreshing touch of real life that is appropriate to blogs, Kate. Totally different from an MSM personage declaiming whatever drivel appears on the teleprompter while surrounded by a multitude of crew members and hangers-on.

    You once commented that you wouldn’t do radio; somthing to the effect of “Some people have a face for radio, I have a voice for the internet”.
    I think you sounded pleasant, rational, and intelligent. And your voice is Prairie nice. I’d suggest you’d be much better than Giggles Taber…And she gets paid!

  37. Very nice to get to hear the soothing voice of a reasoned female conservative. You were so patient (and self-restrained?)in some of your responses. How did you refrain from the illustrious examples of 18 month wait times for hip surgeries etc. The ridiculous hypocracies of LibMouths and their no two tier anything in Canada, the fact that we accept that the medical system’s mandate is actually to “manage” wait times/lists as part of the mandate to deliver health care. You were measured but did get to insert the knife with your Rochester, MN examples of certain clicked-in Cdn’s quietly enjoying no-wait care. Kinda wished you had named that particular Liberal MP who went stateside for medical care, thereby queue-jumping our universal medical 18 month wait lists. That was great though. Thanks.

  39. Very impressive, Kate. I look forward to the day when you are able to reach a wider Canadian radio (or television) audience — how about providing a little basic education to Michael Enright?
    That wider audience may not always warm to your opinions but they will not be able to ignore your questions, the ones that *never* get asked by the traditional media.

    This I don’t buy! I thought yours was an excellent broadcast voice Kate (full disclosure: I did occasionally use this line on the ladies a few decades ago – man, you don’t hear many broadcast voices in today’s Brittany era!).
    In contrast, one of the great shocks of my life was my first (and only) conversation with Mark Steyn at a Claremont Institute do in CA a couple years back.
    Yeah, those puppies did sound happy!

  43. Well done, Kate. ‘Very nice voice too, and the puppies sound lively!
    Michael sounds like a fine guy, but not too knowledgeable about Canada and its political system: one would need more than half an hour to describe the huge differences between our two countries. E.g., We have no First Amendment, but we DO have Human Rights [sic] Commissions to itimidate law abiding citizens with the “wrong” ideas. This serious, state sanctioned bully behaviour has quite a lot to do, IMO, with the difficulties conservatism has in this country.
    And somehow, by the grace of God, I guess, I’m a bona fide conservative–always have been–in a big city. Of course, in a government job, with no First Amendment protection, I now keep my political opinions firmly to myself in the public square. I didn’t used to have to do that to keep my job.
    The stranglehold of the left-wing elites in this country over most of our institutions (including the MSM) and what is considered “acceptable” public discourse–political correctness run amok–has diminished all of us.
    (Don, how about a thesis and some arguments?)

  45. Good show Kate & houndlets. You came across normal. Nothing nuts in any direction, well informed and I particularly liked your respect for your neighbours to the south. They’re my neighbours too and I’ve always felt it normal to treat and be treated with respect.
    Relationships premised on North and South certainly makes sense to me. I can certainly relate to people from Washington, Oregon and North Calf. more than I can to people from Eastern Canada. Everything’s different for them than it is for us, why wouldn’t we relate to folks that live like we do, share a common climate and common ocean. It’s not rocket science.
    Good on you. The US Hating pink underwear set would have been foaming at the mouth. Pity

    As I was listening to the broadcast my A.D.D. riddled brain was off on a million tangents … one of which was happily listening to Kate in the near future opening her blogcast from “deep within the fortified C.E.I.B. Northern Command bunker” … which train of thought after the canine interruption quickly devolved into Kate refering to one of the puppies as Snerdley … I know I know, but I’m an (ugly) American so I offer no excuse.
    Kate, are you quite sure your face isn’t for radio/blogcast ? would a poll of your readers sway you ?

    I do wonder about the various comments regarding eastern Canadian conservatism. It seems to me that left wing governments (except in Alberta) are fairly frequent in the west. Also, who was it again that has given us (and continues to give us) Ralph Goodale!
    Keep up the great work Kate – there are people in all parts of the country who need you.

    The voice was excellent and the best part for me was the conviction and calm certitude of the replies that left no doubt this was NOT a political person speaking.
    Kudos to the Europeans for the interview.
    Is BlogTalk Radio available on Skype?
    Just wondering.
