Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

What They Say About SDA
"Smalldeadanimals doesn't speak for the people of Saskatchewan" - Former Sask Premier Lorne Calvert
"I got so much traffic after your post my web host asked me to buy a larger traffic allowance." - Dr.Ross McKitrick
Holy hell, woman. When you send someone traffic, you send someone TRAFFIC.My hosting provider thought I was being DDoSed. - Sean McCormick
"The New York Times link to me yesterday [...] generated one-fifth of the traffic I normally get from a link from Small Dead Animals." - Kathy Shaidle
"You may be a nasty right winger, but you're not nasty all the time!" - Warren Kinsella
"Go back to collecting your welfare livelihood." - Michael E. Zilkowsky
Mark Steyn is correct yet again.
Tens of billions of dollars pored down the sink hole of Palestine, virtually all of which got blown (no pun intended) on Arafat and his minions.
What suckers the west has been. Question is, will there be a repeat with Hamas?
Does not matter if the douche bag OBL is dead or alive. The piece of shit can motivate his idiot followers from a cave or a grave. These islamocowards are so brainwashed, no matter what spin is put on it, it will motivate the next generation of johnny jihads to self-detonate in the name of the pedophile prophet.
LEadership matters, K’lad you know that. I wouldnt dismiss OBL’ death when announced as an insignificant thing.
It wont end things, on that we agree, but it will change the battlefield. He either ascends to become a Che Guevera type character, mythical, untouchable and able to inspire but not a directive force, or he fades away as yet another quixotic arab revolutionary and the narrative of arab futility continues along.
Of course it would be best if he got taken out by an American laser guided bomb.
The best strategy the West has is to rub raw the inner anger in the Arab/Muslim world . . Sunnis hating Shias etc and fuel a MoM (Muslim on Muslim) civil war.
If the savages are too busy hating and killing each other, the rest of the world can live in peace.
Hear that Ossy Bin Laden has spoken to the faithful again. Have they done a taxidermy job on the body and added animation?
I agree, let them have at each other, it has always been thus. Part of the plan will have to include isolating them, keeping them out of our Western Democracies, they are not a fit in our civilizations, their religious ideologies prevent it totally. Terrorism, be-headings, stonings, just not our way of life. never will be, we’re civilized.
OBL served his purpose…as a CIA asset he confounded the Ruskis and made them spend themselves into insolvency in Afgahnistan…as a video spook he keeps the nebulous terror threat alive so dupes like Chertoff can have “gut feelings” that send homeland insecurity forces into paranoid martial control fits….yup OBL has done more dead to further useful public paranoia than he ever did alive and on the US payrolls.
WL Mack: “…so dupes like Chertoff can have “gut feelings…”
I’m in agreement with the vast majority of your comments. However, I hope that you’re not suggesting in the last comment that maintaining vigilance in time of war is a bad thing.
I don’t know what Michael Chertoff knows or thinks he knows about the current threat potential but when his fears are made public he has my attention. There’s been enough thwarted terrorist plans (and those that succeeded) since 9/11 to know that it’s a matter of when and not if.
Bin Laden the undead. Works for me. Better than confirmed dead and martyred. Either way, the cesspool that is the Afghan/Pakistani border must be cleared, regardless of the cost. The Clinton administration learned a bitter lesson – even if you leave these guys alone, they will simply be emboldened to plan more daring and deadly attacks. The steadily increasing thresold of violence AQ used throughout the 90s will continue if we don’t drain the swamp. If we don’t, they will surely up the ante. If we continue to use the head up your a**e approach of Taliban Jack and Dionsky, then we are consigned to a much larger scale war as Islamists gain strength, left alone, indeed with propoganda victories supplied the likes of Jack
“. However, I hope that you’re not suggesting in the last comment that maintaining vigilance in time of war is a bad thing.”
No I’m saying that scared or paranoid people are easy to manipulate by political preditors…it’s hard to herd a fearless man….personally I think the “war on terror” is similar to the “war on drugs” or the “war on poverty”…these are nebulous concepts and “wars” that can never be won…they lead you into a multi generational financial commitment to the expansion of the size and pervasion of big government.
Chertoff’s “gut” is no excuse to turn Americal into an armed camp under martial law ( which is what the patirot acts and series of executive orders do)…and there is a hell of a lot of difference between vigilant against concrete threat and paranoia over nebulous hyperbolic “threats”….special when they come from the “gut” of a statist termite.
Osama hasn’t aged a hair, how does he do it?
Wonder if Jack Layton has attempted to arrange a meeting with animated corpse?
WK: “…personally I think the “war on terror” is similar to the “war on drugs” or the “war on poverty”
Personally I think there’s a big difference between the WOT and the rest. Drug lords didn’t attack the centers of american commerce and government on 9/11. Soup kitchen munchers aren’t trying to get their hands on plans for the Pickering Power Facility. Nobody else has it in for the West like Islamic extremists and like it or not if the West is to prevail it will take many years of effort and sacrifice.
I think people in NA are more reasonable then given credit for. Most of us won’t be adding on to the neighbourhood bomb shelters. Since we’re all targets and we are at war with a widespread idealogical enemy, reminding us to be wary is our governments responsibility. We can choose to over-react to well meaning words or we can choose to see it for what it is.
Attacks on NA soil are coming. Being prepared to react is part of dealing with that reality.
Incidentally, your criticism of Chertoff’s comments mirror that of Fidel Castro in his latest essay: http://go.sosd.com/servlet/nrp?cmd=sty&cid=RIM&pgn=1&ino=1203224&cat=World&lno=1
How about that?
binladen bindead for sometime now

This is called really smart, shrewd warfare.
Dumb warfare, on the other hand, is “bringing democracy to the Middle East” which makes us hope-addicted dupes and history-challenged utopians.
Ohsum Has Bin Laden into a coffin??????
