  1. Okay lets see the liberal wussietards go there and urge these kids to trade their gun for a little pink toy monkey and see the response they will get SILENCE INFEDEL WUSSIETARD WACKO

  2. What happened is they keep losing because they don’t teach the kids how to hold the gun properly. That kid with the Uzi doesn’t even have the right finger on the trigger.
Finger OFF the trigger, kid. [slap!]

  3. Truth is no defence, you know. Just post that on the cesspool called Rabble.ca and see how long it lasts before the whackos pull it as hate speech.

  4. see, same as in Toronto . . . not enough basketball courts and the little buggers pick up guns.
    Not their fault.
    Blame George Bush

  5. A good overview of Israel’s history. I’ve bookmarked it for refuting the usual lefty history of Israel with the Jews as oppressors.
If Israel never existed we would still be at the same violent point at this time in history with expansionist Islam. So much of it is demographics driven, too many marginal feckless males from a failed primitive culture/religion at odds with the modern world.
I admire the Jews for surviving as much as they have and remaining a democratic people that examine their own morality on an ongoing basis. Comparing the content of The Jerusalem Post or Haaretz to El Jazeera says it all about both groups.

  6. “I admire the Jews for surviving as much as they have and remaining a democratic people that examine their own morality on an ongoing basis.”
    And their own mortality, too.

  7. As penny says a good overview of Israels history and likewise Ive bookmarked it.
Thanks for it Kate and to those who produced it.
All EVIL seems to conspire against the jews.

  8. I’m looking at using this as part of the current events unit in a Gr. 12 Social Studies course this fall, and was wondering if anyone knows of a similar link to an opposing MODERATE view. One of the goals of the unit is to allow the students to gather opposing viewpoints on a subject and do the research to discern the truth for themselves. Please leave the link(s) in this comment section. Thanks in advance to those who can offer assistance.

  9. Oh, I’m looking for a comparable multi-media presentation, so that might help narrow down the links I’ll be sent. Thanks!

  10. ….wondering if anyone knows of a similar link to an opposing MODERATE view.
Jennifer, FACTS trump views. Wouldn’t your time be better spent finding them for your 12th grade social studies class instead of asking us to do your homework for you? I’m not sure I understand what you mean by “MODERATE”, do you?

  11. “Jennifer, FACTS trump views.”
And some good reading comprehension on your part wouldn’t hurt, either. The point of the exercise is to take two opposing VIEWPOINTS and to research the facts behind them. Given how much opinion and how little fact is presented in the average high school (and the media) these days, I should think you’d be pleased that there are a few teachers left who are encouraging students to develop critical thinking skills.
And, Penny, whatever happened to good manners? I’m sure you didn’t mean to be so rude in your comment. There are not so many teachers left in Alberta who will be giving out a link to Michael Yon’s reporting on Iraq in their classroom, so I’d hope you’d be nicer to one of the few who offers her students something beyond the predigested pap being dribbled out of the mainstream media.
(Full disclosure: Jennifer is my wife and I was the one who encourage her to post here. I’m aware that the commenters here run the gamut of the political spectrum and some of them may already have a comparable opposing viewpoint bookmarked in their browser.)

  12. penny: Indeed, a good bookmark this. I saw it about 2-3 months ago and sent off to a couple of liberal friends.
Sean/Jennifer. Let your wife speak for herself. This is not “a view”: these ARE the facts. Try “The Case for Israel” by Alan Dershowitz. It deals chapter and verse with 39 myths (I think that’s the number). And you know what: although he’s a Jew his liberalism will surprise you and Jennifer. And he has his criticisms of Israel too.
penny: Another excellent item. Efraim Karsh making minced meat out of the Benny Morris and the self-loathing Israeli-Jew “new historians” who falsified the record to demonize the Zionists. Benny Morris would not debate him.
    w3.meforum.org/article/207
Was hoping ET would watch this and “correct” the record as to my knowledge all her comments have been pro-“Palestinian” (in quotes because the term is a propagandistic invention post 1967). Last time out, as I recall, the issue was all about Israel paying compensation for the “Palestinian” refugees (the refugee crisis was created and deliberately maintained by the Arab states!) despite there having being an even greater number of Jewish refugees from Arab lands at the same time who left with nothing.
Finally, try Efraim Karsh’s “Empire of the Sands ” for an excellent history of the Middle East from 1789 to now.
Hint: There was never, ever a “nationalist” movement in the Arab world. Ever. If you read it will you will understand that the “Palestinians” have never been interested in having a state — only destroying the Israeli one.

  13. “Let your wife speak for herself.”
My wife can, and probably will later. However, I’ve always believed that a gentleman steps foward to defend his lady’s honour when it is impugned (call me old fashioned).
“Let your wife speak for herself. This is not “a view”: these ARE the facts.”
Everything is a view so far as I’m concerned until I’m able to dig into the background behind the statements being made. I’m informed enough about the Middle East that I’m aware of the veracity of the video Kate linked to. That’s why I forwarded it to my wife with a suggestion that she may want to include it in her current affairs unit.
What I find amusing is that there is no shortage of hue and cry here at SDA when leftist dogma such as An Inconvenient Truth is trotted forth in our school system. “What about opposing views and showing both sides of the argument?” the commenters here cry, and rightly so. Here we have a teacher actually trying to present both sides of an argument to her students and to help them do their own fact checking*.
And she is immediately attacked for it.
So when leftist material is shown in a classroom, “balance” and opposing viewpoints are demanded. When right-of-center material is brought into the classroom the need for the opposing viewpoint suddenly evaporates. Why the double standard? I expected to find that kind of behaviour over at Rabble, not here.
For the record, my wife is the type who, if, An Inconvenient Truth was shown by one teacher to her students in one class, would immediately follow it up with The Great Global Warming Swindle** and would then encourage the class to fact check both films. The lady has integrity — that’s why I married her.
That’s my 2 cents. If my wife wants to add anything else, that’s her prerogative — I’m done in this thread.
    Sean M.
*…and we all know which ‘viewpoint’ will come out on top if any fact checking is done, don’t we?
**She would purchase the video out of her personal funds, if necessary.

  14. It is just my opinion but maybe Jennifer should present this to her class and invite the students themselves to comment, critique and analize this. Having them look up historical facts might make a better imact than showing them this and another “view”. If some disagree with it then let them prove it with facts and figures. I seem to recall that looking up stuff myself lasted longer in my memory than being fed stuff.
All too often the sheeple of today are fed multimedia stuff and are to believe it as fact. Gore’s film is now being distributed to all of Ontario’s schools. Unfortunately, it will be shown without discussion as to what is fact and what is fiction. The same holds true of Moore’s works of fiction. The producer of the presentation in question has documentation of all the facts presented and even gives an address in which the viewer can verify.

  15. Sounds like Troll stuff to me, either intentional or accidental.
Much Vitrol and no thanks for the offered links.
Bait and switch stuff to distract from the original link, which is excellent stuff, by the way.

  16. I certainly never meant to start a chain of ‘bait and switch stuff’ or troll. I came here at the behest of Sean, who has often told me of the wealth of information, views and assistance that people who read SMA have to offer.
I agree that the link Kate gave was excellent on many levels, and I can see the potential for classroom discussion and such.
Thank you Me No Dhimmi. I will look into the resources you suggested.
For those who wondered why Sean was defending me, and I was silent…Gee, did you ever think I might not have actually had the opportunity to follow up on this thread? As to those who are quick to trounce upon someone asking in earnest for assistance (not to do my ‘homework’), you have certainly made sure I will be much more hesitant to do so next time.
Good day…back to your regularly scheduled discussion.

  17. Jennifer,
    Good luck with your project.
Presenting all views is necessary, granted each point of dispute and\or contention is analyzed and debated.
Retention of knowledge is best served when it is earned. Rare in education, healthy indeed.
Starting with the basics is always a good idea. ie: Does Israel have the right
to exist? Why do most Arab\Persian governments hate Israel?
“What Really Happened In The Middle East” does provide a fair accounting of
events. In this day and age, those grade 12 students are lucky to have you as a teacher.

  18. Jennifer, I did not mean to be rude to you. I did mean to hold what I thought was a high school kid’s feet to the fire when it came to doing their own due diligence and research, sorry. Critical thinking skills with kids today is so inadequate, not blaming you, that they need to be admonished to ferret out facts instead of the easiness of opinion.
When you request a “similar link to an opposing MODERATE view”, I’m still not sure what you mean. If you are asking for a “moderate” Palestinian position, I know of none, it would be so obscure as not to matter.

  19. Jennifer: Frankly, we need a lot more teachers like you! Please don’t be discouraged by the rough and tumble here at sda. I’m thrilled, as I’m sure many people are, that you geniunely want to show opposing views. So please don’t be shy about posting here.
BUT, would you even be allowed to show this documentary on the ME? Hate to be cynical, but I doubt it.
Also, re: hubby’s point about balance, many here would argue that the public school system is overwhelmingly left-lib and that there just is no risk of tipping the balance to the “right of centre”. That said, I certainly didnt’ mean to suggest that you should not show a pro-Pal piece for “balance”.
But you know what: I bet if your students could get a good look at what is shown on “Palestinian” TV and the Arab media in general they would be absolutely stunned (as I’m sure your colleagues would be too) to see the one-way hoax that is multiculturalism, our state religion. A good source: MEMRI.
But I don’t think you’d be able to do that either!

  20. Jennifer:
History has proven what was documented in this video as correct. There was never a “Palestinian State”, nothing of the sort. But there was an Israel, that was again reborn in 1948.
Israel has every right to exist. A Palestinian State doesn’t. It will turn into another breeding ground for terrorists.
Offer a moderate opposing view. How can you have moderation in presently a view to students that is full of lies?

  21. I guess what I was hoping to find was a source or two that gives the Palestinian viewpoint of why they think they should be granted all of Israel without the quick degeneration into ‘kill all Jews’ that so often happens. I’m not looking for PLO propaganda type sources. Maybe I’m off base and that what I’m looking for doesn’t exist. Just thought someone here might be able to point me in the right direction.

  22. I ordered “The Great Global Warming Swindle” from Amazon.Uk last April. They still haven’t sent it siting problems. I’ve heard that the Kyoto Crowd put an embargo or some sort of stop print on it. Anyone have any information on that.
Seems its ok to show propaganda to our scholl kids ie. Goracles video, but not Ok to show anything with an opposite view. Sounds like Eco-censor-ship to me.
At any rate has anyone been able to get a copy og the DVD lately.

  23. Jennifer, good luck on that quest. I’m by no means a scholar on the ME but from what I’ve seen there is very little from the Arab side of the discussion that is moderate. When there is even mention of Israel the hate mongering adjectives come out in full force. If you ever do find a piece from the other side of the coin, so to speak, I for one would be happy if you passed on that link for the rest of us to see/read. Good luck on that, though.

  24. Oh come on folks this is an old picture. The reaction is fear and is completely normal. Really nothing to be alarmed about. The boys had just been told that Yasser Arafat was coming to take them to his palace.

  25. Jennifer:
I’m no scholar either, but I concur with Texas Canuck.
In fact, if you want another pro-Arab/anti-Zionist view, strangely enough you’ll find it from Israeli “new historians”. TC is correct, you won’t find anything in the Arab world which would be presentable unless you’re doing something on the Nazi-like culture of the “Palestinians”.
Above I referenced that superb piece by Efraim Karsh destroying Benny Morris. Just from that piece you will get a good sense of a genuine intellectual battle.
And like TC I’d be most keen to see a balancing “moderate view”. But there cannot be a “moderate” position on genocide which has always been the Arab wish for Jews. Everything else is a feint — deception. “War is deception” said Muhammed.
When we describe anything as “moderate” there we are guilty of liberal cognitive egocentrism. Fatah, described as “moderate” are for genocide only in slow motion; the “extremist” Hamas, on the other hand, want genocide NOW. There’s your moderate view. Genocide via the instalment plan.
Liberal cognitive egocentrism: Got that term from professor Richard Landes who runs the website Augean Stables.
It just occured to me that you might find this a very worthwhile site. He often presents pieces from allegedly moderate Muslims and “Fisks” them. A very informative site.

  26. Hey Jennifer, maybe show the picture up above to your class and get them to point out all the wrong things in it. Like tall adults standing around a short kid with a machine gun.
If they can’t think of anything, you have a problem.

  27. J.M. Heinrichs | July 16, 2007 8:17 PM
    Very first document, year 2000.
The controversial visit by Ariel Sharon of the Likud to Al-Haram Al-Sharif (Temple Mount) in 2000 was followed by the outbreak of the second intifada. A massive loss of life, the reoccupation of territories under Palestinian self-rule, military incursions, extrajudicial killings of suspected Palestinian militants, suicide attacks, rocket and mortar fire, and the destruction of property characterized the situation on the ground.
Notice word: “extrajudicial” killings of Palestinians. This word is never used with jew-killing. This is a dead giveaway for pro-Pal-Nazi agitprop. Remember it’s from Jihad central, the UN.
“Controversial visit by Arian Sharon to the Temple Mount”. Note the phony causation here: the visit — he was invited or at least received approval — allegedly triggered a spontaneous uprising ….
BULLSHIT… the uprising or intifada was pre-planned. Arafat was overwhelmed by the huge gift Barak was offering, panicked (he didn’t want a side-by-side state he was being offered — never did) and called up the pre-planned intifada.
Also mentioned was the “illegal separation wall” — a legitimate defence against suicide mass murders, which are presumably not illegal. Er, no in fact: in UN-land suicide murder of women, children and old people in pizza joints and buses is, er, resistance.
Source is UN documents. Of absolutely no use except for dates and names maybe.
The UN and its 3rd world automatic majority is unabashedly anti-Israel. It even hosted a memorial gathering for the 1947 partition in which was displayed a map sans Israel. Let me spell that out: there was prominently displayed a map of ME without Israel. That’s the UN for you. To say nothing of its repeated citing of Israeli human rights violations and its complete silence on other countries.
J.M. Heinrichs isn’t interested in the truth only passing on standard Arab agitprop.

  28. Jennifer:
Thanks for doing what you’re doing. I wish I had more teachers throughout school that encouraged us to try to see things from different perspectives and develop critical thinking skills, instead of presenting just one point of view and not allowing anyone to question it.

  29. For Jennifer the teacher:
Me no Dhimmi said: “In fact, if you want another pro-Arab/anti-Zionist view, strangely enough you’ll find it from Israeli “new historians”. ”
One of them, who is a reasonable read, although I could never agree with his entire premise, is Michael Neumann. His book is “The Case Against Israel” Published by CounterPunch and AK Press in 2005. ISBN 1-904859-46-1 ; ISBN-13 9781904859468 ; Library of Congress Control Number 2005935384.

  30. good question Me No Dhimmi.
where is ET to “correct” the record?
    perhaps she could enlighten Jennifer.

  31. Smash’em:
You mean like outlets like Universities and media do now?
Give a one sided view AGAINST Israel, the US, and Harper?

  32. “I ordered “The Great Global Warming Swindle” from Amazon.Uk last April. They still haven’t sent it siting problems.”
Amazon.uk lists the release date as July 23, 2007 — that might explain why.

  33. Young Islamic boys at serious play, rehearsing for their future as suicide bombers or whatever terror Allah orders. Their Mothers will be proud, the virgins await.
