  1. Shane Doan had 3 goals today in Canada’s 6-3 win.
That’s why you should never let any political Quebecer pick any team representing this country.
Doan wasn’t good enough for them.
And if Quebec politicians, Taliban Jack and Dufus Dion can’t even get a sports team right, then what the hell are they doing making important decisions in the nation’s Parliament?
BTW, if Shane Doan was from any other province in this nation, do you think that these fools would have dredged this up again?

  3. Another example from Mo’s religion of savages, rapists and sadists. Don’t read this if you have a weak stomach.
ISTANBUL, TURKEY (BosNewsLife)— There was increased concern Thursday, April 26, about the plight of active Christians in Turkey after investigators revealed that three evangelical believers were “satanically tortured” last week before being killed.
The influential American human rights group International Christian Concern (ICC) with website http://www.persecution.org told BosNewsLife that the circumstances surrounding the deaths of German Tilman Ekkehart Geske, 45, and Turkish Christians Necati Aydin, 35, and Ugur Yuksel ,32, at the Christian Zirve publishing house were even worse than thought.
ICC, based in Washington DC, said the troubles began on Easter Sunday when five of the alleged killers had been to a service that Pastor Necati arranged in the eastern town of Malatya, the capital of Malatya province.
The men were reportedly known to local believers as searching for the faith in Christ. The suspects, one of whom is the son of a mayor in the Province of Malatya, are part of a tarikat, or a group of “faithful believers” in Islam, ICC added.
Tarikat membership is “like a fraternity membership” and means that “no one can get into public office without membership” of such a group, ICC said. “On the day of the killing, the young Muslim men had arranged to meet the Christians at 10:00 am [local time] to ostensibly learn more about the Bible. They had gathered guns, bread knives, ropes and towels [as] they knew there would be a lot of blood, ready for their act of service to Allah,” ICC stressed.
    READING BIBLE
After Necati read a chapter from the Bible the assault reportedly began. “The young men tied Ugur, Necati, and Tilman’s hands and feet to chairs as they videoed their work on their cell phones,” ICC said, adding that what “followed in the next three hours is beyond belief.”
ICC said the men were “disemboweled, and their intestines sliced up in front of their eyes. They were emasculated and watched as those body parts were destroyed.” The group added that “fingers were chopped off” and “their noses and mouths and anuses were sliced open” as part of what it called “satanic torture.”
It added that “possibly the worst part was watching as their brothers were likewise tortured. Tilman was stabbed 156 times, Necati 99 times and Ugur’s stabs were too numerous to count.” Finally, their throats were sliced from ear to ear, and their “heads practically decapitated,” ICC said.
Prosecutors have asked a court to allow jailing 11 suspects, 10 young men and a woman, pending trial over the gruesome murder of the three Christians. A 12th suspect, allegedly the leader, remains in hospital with a serious head injury after jumping from the third-floor office of the Christian publishing house in Malatya where the victims were killed, to escape arrest.
At least four of the suspects have reportedly been charged with “founding a terrorist organization and murder within the framework of the organization.” In a first reaction, Tillman’s wife publicly forgave the those who killed her husband saying “they know not what they do.”
ICC President Jeff King said he was impressed by the “contrast between the acts of the killers and the forgiveness of Tillman’s wife.” He said it was “glaring and in the end seems to be at the center of this story for us. For in the end, these events serve as a stark reminder of the difference between Islam and Christianity.”
He added that, for “the ’faithful’ Muslims, following their god meant brutally killing three men [with the excuse] “we did this to protect Islam”. For the faithful Christians, following God meant forgiving the men who had tortured and murdered their loved ones.”
    ——————————–
IMO, this is exactly what will happen here in Canada if we continue to allow Muslim immigration. If we continue to allow Saudi/Wahhabi school funding. If we don’t monitor what their Salafist and Khomenist hate preachers are teaching. If we don’t prosecute them for hate crimes to the full extent of the law. If we don’t deport the criminals.

  4. Re: The equalization bugaboo with the maritimes.
My understanding is that the Liberals appointed a guy named O’Brien to come up with a formula fair to all.
Harper asked the Premiers to get together and come up with a colution also that was fair to all.
The Premiers could not agree on anything. The O’Brien report would have cancelled the Atlantic Accord totally.
Harper insisted that the Accords be kept in place until at least 2012 to give the Maritimes a chance to get their resource indistries up and running better.
So – now the Maritimes are mad at Harper.
My suggestion is that Harper assign this Mr. O’Brien to meet with Danny Williams and the other maritime preems and hash out the pros and cons together and try to get concensus.
As long as the deal does not penalize the other provinces why not? As long as their “equalization” is as equal but not more than the other provinces.
This Danny Williams thing is really really bugging my Newfie friends here in Alberta. They are ashamed of him and he makes them all look like we’re more special than you whiners.

  8. Al Queda says if Mo isn’t declared the superman of the world by May 10th, all NGO’s will be blown up:
DHAKA, Bangladesh (Reuters) — Three simultaneous bomb blasts rocked separate railway terminals in Bangladesh on Tuesday, with militant slogans claiming to be from al Qaeda found at two of the sites.
One man was hurt in the blasts, which triggered panic among commuters, who evacuated railway terminals.
Thin metal sheets scribbled with slogans were found at the bomb sites in Dhaka’s Kamalapur and Sylhet terminals. The third blast was in the railway terminal of the southeastern city of Chittagong.
“… If Hazrat (Prophet) Mohammad is not declared the superman of the world by May 10, all non-governmental organizations will be blown up,” the slogans on the metal sheets read in the Bengali language. They were signed “the al Qaeda network” in English.

And in other Muslim news a prominent British imam surprisingly tells the truth:
In documents seen by The Daily Telegraph, al-Muhajiroun claimed: “Terrorism is a part of Islam” and “Allah made it obligatory to prepare and to terrify the enemy of Allah”.
The article advised: “The kuffar of USA and UK are without doubt our enemy. There is no such thing as an innocent kafir, innocence is only applicable for the Muslims. Not only is it obligatory to fight them, it is haram [forbidden] to feel sorry for them.”

  9. So, do you think Russ Mills, the former publisher of the Ottawa Citizen who killed Kinsella’s column in the Citizen years ago will sue the Pince o’ Darkness for libel for Kinsella’s sleazy blog post today? Mills would probably win, but I doubt he’d be bothered with the little snake.

  10. From a letter to the editor in Wednesday’s London Free Press:
Regarding the column, Iraq shows U.S. not up to fight (April 28).
It is getting a bit too much to stomach Salim Mansur’s diatribe of hatred and mudslinging against Arabs and Muslims.
In his recent journey of extremism, Mansur goes the extra mile in his anti-Muslim vehemence by equating those who terrorize the people of Iraq today with the “seventh-century barbarian marauders.”
Those “barbarian marauders” only took the the knowledge of the ancient Greeks, the Persians and Indians, in addition to their own considerable contribution to the advancement of mankind, to the heart of the still-slumbering Europe, to Africa and the heart of Asia. In their quest to build on an already existing set of beliefs, they “hurt no old men, widows, children or those who desired peace.”
It is disappointing to see The Free Press continue publishing columns such as Mansur’s, which are not only misleading, but are also contributing to distancing Canadians from each other.

  12. Combine this … Williams having no impact on Canada: U of T professor
“Wiseman says there is a long tradition of fed bashing in this province and whining that Newfoundland and Labrador is being shortchanged by Ottawa. He suggests many Canadians are still smarting over Danny Williams flag-lowering incident.”
with this … Stalking elusive Atlantic Tories

“The Harper government has already decided it cannot do business with Danny Williams, the Napolean of the Rock, so it looks like any sweetener offered to Nova Scotia will not be offered to Newfoundland. Mr. Williams will be apoplectic if he discovers his confrontational approach has produced predictable results. Mr. Manning, Mr. Doyle and Loyola Hearn, the Fisheries Minister, will likely suffer the electoral backlash — in fact the latter two have already said they will retire at the next election.”
And it looks like an interesting power play developing on Premier Williams … Harper ignores his whining, while rewarding the co-operative approach of Nova Scotia.
What will Newfoundlanders think of Danny’s impotent bullying approach as they watch their Atlantic cousins in N.S. come away with results from a co-operative approach ?
Will the Newfoundlanders turn on Danny, or follow him over the cliff, not electing any Tories, and thus having no representation in the next Harper Cabinet ?
Should be fun to watch, especially when Dion re-enters the fray as Danny’s Federal saviour !

  13. Does anyone know where I may see the film Islam vs Islamists
This documentary tells the story of courageous anti-Islamist Muslims in Western Europe, Canada and the United States and the extraordinary challenges they face in taking on adherents to the theo-totalitarian ideology known as Islamism. What is happening to these moderates – who are being ostracized, intimidated and, in some cases, threatened with death – offers critical insights into the dangers that both they and we are facing. It also suggests steps we must take to help and empower these moderates and others like them.
Unfortunately, as things stand now, objections from the Public Broadcasting Service and the Corporation for Public Broadcasting, this film will not be seen by the American people – whose tax dollars paid for its production.

  14. Politically Correct Dictionary
Samples from the politically correct dictionary.
    A
Action – by adding “action” to plan or an organization name we must be doing something. [am I?]
Agenda – describes any collection of policies: ‘equality agenda’ for instance. Invariably needs to be ‘taken forward’.
Aggressive outreach – the process of actively soliciting trade for social workers. Generally employed when ‘customers’ fail to show required enthusiasm for services on offer.
Algorerythyms – The ability to turn a 5 inch more than normal sea level rise into 20 feet in spite of all evidence to the contrary, caused by keeping the AC turned too low.
    B
Beacon of excellence – archaism: any organ of state that achieved – or ‘delivered’ – what it was actually supposed to.
Best practice – normally ‘established’ when a Lefty wants to saddle a process with more complexity. Replaces ‘working it out yourself’.
Bigoted – used to describe those who refuse to view all lifestyles, religions, cultures and deviances as equally valid.
Bilingual – someone who gets more money because they can speak a 2 languages. One of which no one they work with will care about.

  15. Canada’s New Government Delivers on Fixed Date Elections
OTTAWA, ONTARIO–(CCNMatthews – May 3, 2007) – Today, Canada’s New Government took another step toward strengthening accountability and democracy in Canada with the granting of Royal Assent to Bill C-16. The Bill, which establishes fixed dates for general elections, will significantly alter the process for calling elections.
“This important piece of legislation will ensure fairness in the electoral process by eliminating the power of the governing party to call an election to capitalize on favourable political circumstances,” said Peter Van Loan, Minister of Democratic Reform.
“The previous Liberal government repeatedly abused the power to call general elections and this legislation will strengthen accountability and provide certainty by setting October 19, 2009 as the date for the next general election.”
    […]
o Note: I think I scooped the media on this. I haven’t seen one article telling us that the Bill has received Royal Assent but it appears it happened yesterday as promised….-

  16. Now I get where Danny Williams is coming from. He’s preparing for his life after politics and is practicing his impersonations.
He’s currently working on his Rodney Dangerfield.

He just can’t get no respect

Also, the national media is “xenophobic” towards Newfoundlanders.

  17. How about the biggest Blow Bag award to Danny Williams? That guy has the worst case of verbal diarrhea ever, it just rolls out of him and it’s monotone to boot. Sort of Danny one note and one refrain.
Nice set-up. We fork over the bucks when he’s have not a la equalization, now that they’re not have-nots, he wants to keep it all.
That’s equalization, Newfie style. Cake and eat it too for Danny boy. No sharing. Hey, we’ve all known kids like that!
He’s got one hell of an ego if he thinks the rest of Canada will sympathize with his cause and vote anybody but Conservative to boot!
Let’s have at the Buffoon, COD forsaken fool!

  18. Here’s how Danny can earn some respect from ROC:
He could start the constitutional ball rolling on redistributing seats in Parliament on a one-person-one-vote basis. Throw out all the special accomodations that allow PEI to have at least as many MPs as they have Senators (4). No more minimum 25 % seats for Quebec.
A rough calculation would have NFLD go from 7 seats to about 4. I GUARANTEE that Danny would get TONS of respect from every Albertan. He would replace Harper as the champion of democratic reform. What a legacy for you Danny !

Can we all petition to have the Conservatives stop using the phrase Canada’s New Government?
It becomes sillier and more mock-worthy with each use – and, don’t get me wrong, I’m all for that with silly and mock-worthy government – but it also seems childish and when they go out into the world and continue to use it, it is more than a little embarrassing for all of us and I’m embarrassed for them.
    How about:
    Canada’s New-ish Government, or
Canada’s Once We Were New Government, or
Canada’s Not so New Government, or
Canada’s Almost but not quite any longer New Government, or
Canada’s New Conservative Government (i.e. like “New Labour” isn’t really “labour” anymore and the CPC isn’t really “conservative” anymore), or
Canada’s Not quite New but not yet Old Government
Canada’s Targetted demographic policy enacting to gain New voters Government
Canada’s We’re the kings and do whatever the hell we want until some New leadership is chosen for the Liberals Government
Canada’s Have you got any New principles for us to follow (we got rid of our old ones on Jan 24) Government
Canada’s New Government Manicurists, and Hairstylists Inc. (TM)
Canada’s It is all the evil LIEberals fault so don’t blame us for anything we ever do because we’re still claiming we’re New Government?
    Anyone else got any suggestions?

  21. “Canada’s copyright czar lied about money from entertainment execs”
Bev Oda, the Canadian minister in charge of copyright, has been caught taking funds from the entertainment companies she is supposed to regulate. Oda financed her campaign with giant, unseemly donations from the entertainment and pharmaceutical companies — many of them US-based — and was then embarrassed when it was revealed that she planned a $250/plate fundraiser, while in office, just two weeks before a major review of Canada’s broadcasters.
    The rest here.

  22. Ted, when are the same old Liberals the same old Liberals? Right now. Power over principle. Vague platitudes. Priceless.

  31. Utopia and its Discontents
    by Juliana Geron Pilon
Paul Hollander, ed., From the Gulag to the Killing Fields: Personal Accounts of Political Violence and Repression in Communist States […]
Paul Hollander, The End of Commitment: Intellectuals, Revolutionaries, and Political Morality {…]
” … “from Lenin to Stalin to Mao to Ho Chi Minh to Pol Pot, from Castro to the MPLA in Angola.”
Communist terror varied from one country or region to another, and at different times within any one geographic unit; nevertheless, the common elements, both theoretical and practical, are easy to discern. Political police forces (known as “state security” organs), charged with controlling “ideological” rather than ordinary crime, tended to dehumanize the “class enemy” as historically obsolete and “destined” to become extinct. Abuse of the “mentally ill” designation also cut across communism’s manifestations.
Marx and Engels’ oxymoronic “dialectical materialism”, juxtaposing the inevitability of revolution with the imperative of party leadership and predicated on a quasi-divine belief in history as progress, allowed zealous disciples to justify terror and murder by transforming “is” into “ought.” Lenin understood perfectly that the next stage of history must be right, hence any means to bring it about were justified. Therefore, expediting the proletarian nirvana requires “eliminating” those who doubt the omnipotence, omniscience and benevolence of history’s anointed force, the vanguard of the proletariat, the Communist Party.
Not unexpectedly, as nirvana became more elusive, the number of concentration camp inmates grew. Their crimes were often simply accusations—or having been arrested. As the gap between reality and promise increased, so did the need to eliminate those most likely to notice. Repressive measures, including imprisonment and torture, were most frequently taken not against declared ideological opponents, but against members of an inherently “counterrevolutionary class.”
In my native Romania, for example, the construction site of the Danube-Black Sea Canal (aptly dubbed “The Channel of Death”) became a graveyard for professionals, dispossessed farmers regardless of ethnicity, Romanian Orthodox priests, Zionists, Yugoslavs from the Banat region, Saxons from Transylvania and other “unfriendly” elements guilty of the wrong address, the wrong language or the wrong trade. Hollander observes that all communist states, across all continents, defined “collective responsibility” (euphemism for group guilt) as various common traits, like wearing glasses—presumably a sign of intellectualism, i.e., “bourgeois elitism.” Canal victims were beaten “with iron bars…”

  33. A gutsy call on the part of Harper to appoint R. Mills (anglophone) to the head of the NCC. In this day of instant electronic translation, why should it matter if the man isn’t fluent in French? Much more important is that he be competent in the workplace. Nevertheless, he still had to say that he would become bilingual in the future. The centrist control of Canada by bilinguals only must end and this is a good start.
Now let’s see if the same thing will hold when the new RCMP commissioner is appointed. If this is not a competence-based appointment (not political/language based) from within – the morale of both the Force and of Canadians generally is going to take a real beating.
Given the shocking testimony of Bartelman in the Air India Inquiry and the apparent rot at the top levels of the RCMP – hopefully this position is not filled any time soon though. How many others in high positions like this guy have been “sitting on” vital information that is only 20 some years to late because they lacked the intestinal fortitude to do the right thing.
I’m seriously wondering just who we have operating in the upper levels of the public service & gov’t police/security agencies who are competent to run anything of consequence these days.

**Am I the only guy in this country who’s fed up with what’s happening? Where the hell is our outrage? We should be screaming bloody murder.

But instead of getting mad, everyone sits around and nods their heads when the politicians say, *Stay the course.*
Stay the course? You’ve got to be kidding. This is America, not the damned Titanic. I’ll give you a sound bite: Throw the bums out!** …
