Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

“Mr. Malo, your five minutes are over.”
Truer words have never been spoken. What a bozo. I hope the voters in his riding are embarrassed right now. But, I suppose, that’s what you get when you vote for a party that has no tangible goals in the HOC, and is only there to be offended.
The MP’s name is actually Luc Malo, not Yves. Yves Malo is the head of the Parliamentary Press Gallery.
Want to keep our Malos straight, you know.
As Bugs would say of this Malo guy, “what an ultramaroon”! Shame on these MP’s for wasting their time and the taxpayer’s money. Does this person think for one minute the Montreal Canadiens have never, after losing a game in Western Canada refereed by anglophone refs have never made any diparaging remarks about anglos. Give me a break. If this crap is what you think is important as a politician, then the country really is in the toilet!
My nephew was on the same school bus and in the same class as Shane for at least nine years (I think he went to B.C. where he played hockey in grade 10 or 11). He never used language like that growing up. Cujo says that in a period of three years, he never once heard Shane use a swear word. Obviously someone else said it. I have this to say to Mr. Malo: If you cannot deal with someone saying something like this (even though it was not Shane), go home to mama, you crying baby. You have lowered the level of political debate in Canada to about a grade 1 level.
Daimnation has a link to a petition supporting Doan. Get on over and sign. Let’s send a message to Ottawa.
Have we really become such babies that saying frog or wop or faggot to an opponent in the middle of a hockey game is grounds for prosecution off the ice (yes I know Doan denies ever saying frog)?
I find this incident strangely makes me want to blow the whole thing up – not just parliament but Canada too – and start again. The Bloc, the Libs, the scum-sucking Layton and the NDP, I expect crapola from them, but for the Tories to support this inquiry, for the sake of Quebec votes, is beyond the pale.
When a man has to answer to the lowest forms of life – politicians – about his conduct, something is seriously wrong.
You might like to know the Spanish meaning for Malo; its very apropos. I think that the word with its meaning should be added to the French language after this incident.
malo,-a
I adjetivo ➣ mal
1 bad: he tenido un día muy malo, I’ve had a bad day
2 (perverso) wicked, bad
(desobediente, travieso) naughty: es una mala persona, he’s wicked
préstame el coche, no seas malo, lend me your car, don’t be so mean
3 (espectáculo, libro, etc) bad, poor: es un argumento muy malo, it’s a feeble argument
4 (dañino) harmful: es malo para ti que él lo sepa, it’s bad for you that he knows it
tenemos que arrancar las malas hierbas, we’ll have to pull out the weeds
5 (enfermo) ill, sick
6 (alimentos) rotten: se puso mala la carne, the meat went bad
II m,f fam el malo, the baddy o villain
♦ LOC: estar de malas, to be in a bad mood
por las malas, by force
And he said: “Son, this world is rough
And if a man’s gonna make it, he’s gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn’t be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you’d have to get tough or die
And it’s the name that helped to make you strong.”
He said: “Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn’t blame you if you do.
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I’m the son-of-a-bitch that named you “Sue.'”
– Johnny Cash, A Boy Named Sue
————-
These days, we don’t name boys Sue, we make them into Sues. And they go running for their mommy if anyone calls them frog.
Thanks, Gregory.
Unless I’m mistaken, the comment was, “effing Frenchman.”
Well, I’m an effing Dutchman, with parts of effing Englishman, effing Swede and effing Metis all thrown in.
Somehow, I think only one of those could be construed as an offensive remark, which shows you how silly the whole PC culture is.
While the behaviour of the three opposition parties has been absolutely despicable, I am very disappointed with the Conservatives. It might cost them votes from the idiots in Quebec, but its time to take a stand on principle. They’ve already drunk the cool-aid on global warming and made a bad decision on income trusts (should have announced they would campaign on changed policy in next election rather than break a promise in current parliament) so they need to reverse the trend.
I used to think ALberta would be better off on its own. Now I think Canada would be better off without Quebec. Can the rest of Canada vote to separate from Quebec? They have been an embarassment to this country long enough!
They have supplied Canada with our rulers for the last how many years?? 35?? They infect the bureaucracy of this country. They have been involved in almost all of the governmental scandals. They take money from capitalist regions of the country to support their socialist programs. Time to cut the chord and say au revoir.
We’re basically not a country anymore.
This kind of crap is what made me choose to not put my kids in French school. I’m a “pure wool” french-canadian, and could have put my kids through the francophone system, but I just can’t stomach the stupid political baggage that comes with “being french”.
They’ve put the francophone cause, such as it is, back 10 years.
Doan just scored a hat-trick in 6 minutes today–one of the goals shorthanded!! Wonder if he would consider being PM? He has the guts and earns his glory.
FREE ALBERTA-
we will happily take our “grin ‘ouse gizzes” with us.
The scrum following the parliamentary committee hearing involving Malo was the height of political crap. To think the ROC is financing a province that can send a guy like this to the Canadian parliament is a statement of what this country has become.
The pandering for QC/bilingual votes simply has to stop and let the chips fall where they may. This kind of thing is even alienating many Francophones.
Malo & Rodriguez did/are still doing a great deal to fan the flames of separatism – not only on this issue but every time they open their mouthes. If this is what it takes to wake up the West, then it is a good thing – so give them all the air time they want.
Doan’s response was priceless – 3 goals as the game against Belarus was coming to a close.
I think that allowing this forum to happen, is a delight!!
A) The petition that is going around will show Doan our support.
B) This puts the actual accusors in front of the camera for all to see.
Talk about sick puppies!!!
Even this posting is taking all the control that I have to not be barred from being Captain of the next team.
Pat
johnboy.. I have been asking for a referendum for years as to “Do we want quebec as part of this country” A NO vote would remove a lot of expence and BS the the rest of Canada puts up with.
Oh the irony. A Bloc MP, whose sole reason to exist is to seperate from Canada, claiming that Quebecers “identify” with team Canada. I thought that according to the Bloc Quebecers don’t associate with anything Canadian, aside from lopsided transfer payments that is.
The linesman was French, so he’s an ‘effing Frenchman’, period. I’m sure there are english linesmem that have been called ‘squareheads’ in Montreal plenty of times. PC culture wants Doan to wear a scarlet letter forever. Disgusting. Hopefully it awakens some as to how wasteful our current government actually is.
When team Canada wins gold, I wonder if the government will have the guts to ask the team to Ottawa? I hope that as a team they all boycott.
Maybe we should demand a hearing into the competence of the MP’s that represent us in the HOC. Hopefully, there will be lots of phone calls to all of MPs telling all that we are pissed!
Guess Shane had the right way though, score 3, put that in your pie hole “honorable” MP’s!
I hear Milo was sent a congratualtory bouquet from Al Sharpton…hey…I heard it’s true …send it to Parliamentary committee for discussion 🙂
sickening….only words I have to describe the whole sordid affair….the amount of different agendas involved here is mind-boggling
1. Bloc attempt to fire up Pequistes
2. cheap librano attempt to gain in Quebec
3. pathetic dipper attempt to appear that they even understand sport
The bloc I understand, it is in their mission statement to destroy this country. But the libranos and the dippers? Are they complete idiots? Playing right into the bloc’s hands? And the librano morons love to accuse the CPC and being allies with the bloc, and in the end it is them who fan the flames in Quebec. Can they be any more stupid?
Why does a seperatist care who represents this country?
French is a language not a race. It seems we are dealing with tribalism.
If Quebecois truly want their own nation, they will really have to grow a much thicker skin. Its almost embarrassing for them to have such a wimp attempt to speak for them. Any people with such an inferiority complex would have trouble running a dog show, let alone a “nation”.
As the legal saying goes, if you have a case, pound the case. If don’t, pound the table.
If a civil war comes, all Canada would have to do is send in a few comedians (Glen Foster comes to mind) and insult them for a few days. They’d explode like the Chicken Lady in Kids in the Hall and we could all go back to sleep.
And its not as if, as has been pointed out, no English official has ever been called “maudite anglais”.
You have to compliment the CPC on this issue. They’ve handed all the Parties of the Loyal Opposition another yard of rope on this issue to hang them a little higher come the next election. The circus that has been presented to the Canadian public by the opposition over the last two weeks must have turned a few stomachs. Hopefully the CPC will air some of the recent grandstanding of the LIBS/DIPS/BLOCS in the next election, and the Canadian voter will see what we are paying taxes for. If the CPC don’t get a majority in the next election then there is no hope for this country.
Flick Off, Luc.
This little Luc (marsh) Malo is the archetypical inquisitor. A most disgusting display. That Franco Cranko has taken a page right of the Muslims handbook on how to get your jelly donut.
My voting days are over. I am not kidding. It is an embarrassment to think that my wife and I drive out to some plaza and cast votes to support such stupid idiotic freaks.
They are all guilty. Some adults from the CPC should have shut this down. Apparently they are complicit. Frozen by fear of offending the French voters in Quebec. We need to rid ourselves of that province.
The only hero in all this is Shane Doan who is being wronged in Godzilla proportion.
Politics is truly the lowest form of show business.
During next election – this and despicable behavior of hypocrite Libs and pacifist dippers and bloc (oh poor Taliban, we’re such war criminals – at least now they admit we’re at war), should be front and centre to demonstrate “leadership” of left. I know I will be there making sure people aware of every left-wing wacko Chomsky quote from these idiots. Election now.
cpac: Hall interviews after the Inquisition.
Reporter to Malo: Would you resign if it was allegded you did something?
Malo: Evade
reporter:same ?
Malo: evade
reporter: same? same? same?
Malo: Now In a Remake of Run for Your Life
Reporter: Imitation of the Opp in a hot Persuit,Yelling Would you resign?
Malo: Buuuuutt, IIIII, RUNNN, NOooo Moreee ??????
What a pathetically neurotic bunch these members of the “Francophone Inquisition” are.
Shane Doan was chosen as captain of the team because he is one of the best leaders in hockey. Hockey Canada chose the best man, period.
Who is Malo’s choice, no one has ever asked him? Hockey players, and all persons who work in fields where hard physical contact occur, say nasty things in the heat of the moment.
Grow up, Luc, get over it. Should Pierre Trudeau have been removed as PM because of his many obscene utterances and gestures? Well….um…
Bob Fife on CBC put the whole thing down to Priminister Harper’s lack of leadership.
He characterised the attack on Doan as being made by “politicians”.
FLICK the CBC.
Hmmm, and how many times has a French-speaking, Finnish-speaking, or Russian-speaking player said something in their mother language about an ordinary, white Canadian hockey player in the heat of the moment? Are we going to have translators on the ice calling fouls? This is so absurd!
That Bloc MP is hard to watch, he is such a goober. And people voted for this joker?
As these frog idiots are too stupid to even steal a referendum then I think Canada should seperate from them. However as the cons decided to side with them then this lot should not run the country.
As Yanni said, at the moment my voting days are over will not vote con whilst Harper is in charge. He got one chance and in the last few months he has blown it. If he doesn’t have the brains to get round this without supporting it he is not the man to be running the country.
My question: Why didn’t they speak up when they had a chance! Copy of email response received back from an CP MP:
Thank you for your e-mail regarding the Shane Doan fiasco. This episode clearly illustrates just how dysfunctional these Committees are in this minority Parliament. If the Opposition form an alliance (which they often do) to have a majority of votes and decide to hijack the serious and important work of Committees, there is little that your duly elected Government can do to stop their nonsense.
I played hockey up to Juniors in Alberta so I can appreciate that tempers may flare on and off the ice. However, Shane has been cleared by Hockey Canada of the allegations so this should be a non-issue.
Hockey Canada is not a Federal Institution, the Canada’s Senior Men’s Hockey team selection is the responsibility of Hockey Canada and is done by the team’s General Manager and the Government can’t and shouldn’t interfere.
Your Government believes that right now, it is important to join with Canadians in every region of the country, and with one voice wish Team Canada good luck, and hope they bring home the gold medal on behalf of all Canadians.
I am pleased a Conservative colleague moved a motion which was adopted unanimously saying that we support Team Canada and that we are proud of their 3-0 record and hope they bring back the championship.
I see, do not vote, hmmmmm, wonder where that strategy will lead?….come on guys and girls, this is a minority Parliament…..PMSH does not have the ability to shut this down…..let the librano/bloc/dipper alliance have their moment, as it will make great video next election…..patience friends, a CPC majority is coming soon….I agree with Shamrock – ELECTION NOW!
Allegations were made, investigated and findings made that no comments uttered by Doan. Blochead (Malo) tries to argue that allegations, now subject of defamation suit against Coderre, enough to compel Dion to resign Captaincy. OK, fine. Coderre should resign his seat until his trial which, coincidentally enough, begins today. That would be fair, right? Since Malo now party to that defamation, he should resign too, right. Not likely, then he would have to get a real job.
Disgusting. What truly is galling is that our soldiers can be dragged through the mud, and hardly a word from anyone, MSM, bloggers et al. OK to slam soldiers in warzone, but for God’s sake leave hockey players alone.
The Quebec version of having a unjustified and unwarranted Muslim hissy-fit over a silly cartoon right here at home by representatives of a thin skinned french speaking eternal cry baby society. Who the heck is paying for all these self-important meddling do-gooders to participate in this ridiculous exercise? What a bunch of no-minds….do they have any idea how stupid they look and sound?
“Racist” comment? Did anyone else catch that? Good grief.
I guess I’m just like Hale Berry now. She’s multi-racial-Caucasian and Negro. (Can I still use the word Negro?) With that in mind, I’m multi-racial, French and Ukrainian. Since when is one’s language his/her race?
Being that I’m part French, I can insult Mr. Malo and get away with it: He’s a candy ass @#$%-ing Frenchman. (FYI, “@#$%-ing Frenchman” is the Don Imus equivelent to nappy headed ho when recited by a “person of colour”).
Well with the Scots looking to separate from the English, which is arguably a much better fit, maybe we can all grow up and admit that we will be better off without Quebec running this country.
This profoundly embarrassing lunacy and the arrival of Trudeau the Younger as a federal candidate feeds a gnawing sense that I might have to leave this country.
I’m sorry but I don’t buy this thinking: “heh, guys and girls Harper had to go along with this as he has a minority government”.
Prediction: Harper is gonna continue with this ultra-cautious gutlessness even with a majority on this premise: “heh, guys and girls, Harper has to go along with this ‘cos he wants to preserve his majority”.
The most irritating aspect of this whole manufactured tempest is that these creeps are getting paid for it. With our money.
As usual, robbed blind by these parasites who p*ss it away on this kind of nonsense. What a ridiculous country.
Conservatives were in a bind but could have objected to the Bloc motion as not the business of the Parliament in the first place.
If they had voted against it once it came to a vote, they’d be tarred with the “R” word by all and sundry.
Have to wonder where the Speaker fits in here, does he not have a clue about what’s allowed?
The Bloc-heads are in trouble with the voters, expect more of the same, they’ve nothing else to do. Their spokesman Luc Malo was one scary, airy fairy dude. Wasn’t sure if he was on something or coming off something.
We’ve got to be kinder to our poor Quebec cousins. They’re suffering all sorts of angst in every aspect of their lives.
Consider that for the first time, one of their boys is not running the country, thereby diverting hundreds of millions of ROC’s annual tax base to La Belle Province. No chance of Dion forming anything but an ineffectual opposition next, or future elections. Provincially, the PQ is toast, and its coke-sniffing leader’s an effete poof. Bombardier can’t force subsidies as in the past, and despite the government’s huge purchases of air cargo transport planes, it is ineligible to service or maintain them because their workforce is burdened with too many immigrants from Islamofascist regimes, who couldn’t pass a security test even if Mohammad intervened.
The province’s once beloved Habs no longer are beloved, as all their best players are foreign imports. The Habs are foreign-owned. No real Quebecois is on the world senior team, so they lash out at a decent Christian hockey player like Shane Doan in their impotent rage. Merde! All is lost, let’s drag everything else down with us.
The Bloq MPs see their days numbered in the House. They don’t DO anything except bitch and collect seniority towards a pension. Even diehard separatists in Quebec are seeing their impotence and starting to put two and two together that their cause is lost. No wonder that an inbred doofus like Luc Malo uses his twin IQ points to attack a great hockey player like Doan.
Not voting is not an option. I thought about that when the Conservatives seemed to cave on the Kyoto Koolaid. I feel that Harper handled this whole stupid affair in the best way possible that was open to him. Give them their stupid committee and then let them make the damn fools of themselves that they are. We as Conservatives have to stick together and use our heads and think things through before we all go off half-cocked.
Stephen Harper is the best Prime Minister that this country has seen in many, many years. Do you want to make sure that the country is run by those stupid, stupid people who would use our soldiers and hockey players for pawns to try and garner votes? My solution is not to jump on the stupid train with the Lieberals, NDP and Blocheads but to send the Conservatives another contribution to make sure we have very full coffers when it is election time. All of this dumb rhetoric by the opposition will make great ads at that time as long as the money is there.
Luc Malo reminds me of a character from a Tim Burton movie, can’t put my finger on it though, Edward Scissor Hands maybe?
“…. to send the Conservatives another contribution to make sure we have very full coffers when it is election time. All of this dumb rhetoric by the opposition will make great ads at that time as long as the money is there.”
Thank yoou, eliza. If only we could have an election, now. What a time to call snap election. MSM, opposers would blow a vein, with fixed dates leg in royal assent. Electorate will care for about the length of the next overtime.
Layton had made another miscalculation; should have stayed above fray. Looks like tratior (he isn’t) on detainees and weenie on Doan affair.
Otherwise, Dionsky’s chances will still look like the kitten on the rope; just hanging in there. He seems stuck at 30%, which will erode when Canadians discover what a great guy he is. IOW, no election before 2009. Yuck!
NB – on Bill Good this morning, caller railing at MSM ignorance of previous government’s inaction on their detainee policy, the one currently in question. While Bill thought MSM had covered it (Nat Post), he said he was actually more concerned about Canadian soldiers. Yes, that is what will come out next election, eliza.
Mike Brock we might not be a country but at least Quebec is.
We Americans should liberate English Canada from this nonsense.
