  1. No worries, this plan will be scrapped. Chuck Schumer, AOC and Hakeem Jefferies will explain to Mamdani that blacks and married women are incapable of obtaining an ID. Black married women hardest hit.

    1. “Lootus”
Mamdani’s NYC plan for tax funded food stores is enthusiastically received by leftists. Just how does Mamdani propose to stop crime in these “food desert” zones? After all, long established food stores have closed in urban neighborhoods because of high crime rates. If crime isn’t addressed, customers and employees eill be too scared to shop and stock. What about the bodegas and chain convenience stores forced ibto bankruptcy? Big holes in the warm embrace of socialism plan.

  2. I understand why Dems have an historic aversion to voter ID. It goes back to a very ugly time in the American south.

But time has moved on. There is no significant barrier to any adult citizen getting government-issued ID. Every modern nation insists on it for voting, most of them left leaning. By opposing reasonable ID requirements, it makes the Dems look like cheats.

Having said that, the Save America Act comes too late. It should have been passed a year before the next federal election to allow election officials to implement all of its requirements. It has the potential to turn the upcoming midterm election into chaos.

    1. Come on now … say it with your TDS friends … “No Jim Crow 2.0”. Slogans are so much easier. Esp. ones that rhyme.

        1. You are surprisingly petulant and thin-skinned for someone who posts on the Internet.

        2. TDS is not an insult. It’s a diagnosis. I’d say get help, but I might as well say get happy. All I can say is, live with it, and prosper, as far as you make it possible.

    2. “I understand why Dems have an historic aversion to voter ID.” […] ” By opposing reasonable ID requirements, it makes the Dems look like cheats.”

Yes. The Progs are all about moving on. They’ve already moved on from 911.
So in not moving on from the days of racial tension, how could they look like other than cheats?

    3. Democrats have no aversion to voter ID – Chuck Shumer said so on the Senate floor in the 90s. Democrats do have an aversion to any discussion of post Civil War Democrat Jim Ctow laws in the South. You know, like the poll tax used to deny blacks the right to vote – acted like an ID – if you don’t pay the poll tax, you don’t vote.

  3. Want to know the real reason they want ID? The average cost of goods in the City owned grocery store will be 30% lower in cost than privately owned stores. About 28% of that discount is covered by hidden resident taxes within the city. Privately owned stores only have a profit of between 1% and 3%. So, 27% to 29% of the discount from the City owned stores is disingenuous, BUT, also, a business opportunity.

Bodega owners are going to use these City owned stores as suppliers. They’ll grab as much as they can. They’ll take it back to their own store, and mark up the price to sell for profit. They’ll use these City stores as a supplier because the profit margin would be better than a traditional supplier in the city… Unless there is a deterrent of some sort. That’s where the ID comes in, and probably real-time cross referencing with Bodega licensing within the city.

Therefore, Bodegas will have non-associated individuals do their supply runs. This will result in the City of New York placing limits on the amount you can buy. It will, also, empty the shelves almost immediately. It will present us with the optics of the Traditional Soviet Union Breadline.

    1. Exactly. Like Cuba. The gubmint set prices low in government stores for items like meat. Meat dissapeared from government stores to resurface on the black market. It’s price? Martket price (as in free market, i.e. retail). The market determines what something is worth. Fixing lower prices doesn’t work, money always finds a way.

  4. Madmani created the perfect circumstances for a highly profitable black market, subsidized by the taxpayers of New York. When was it any different?

“Yo, Vito, I’ve got a truckload of nice NYC zucchini I want to trade for some AK’s. What can you offer me?”

    1. youre thinking ahead lol NYC too, ground zero for mafiosa type operations.
much experienced, ready mkt, loosey goosey enforcement systems, everything subject to payoff.
is this the plan all along?
