The best part was Japan (FIFA ranked 18) drawing with The Dutch (FIFA ranked 8) 2-2. But the best part was with Japan trailing 1-2 … the know-it-all announcers kept banging on about how the Japanese are so much shorter than the Dutch and should stop crossing the ball in the air … because they were too short to score that way. Yes, you guessed it … Japan kept crossing the ball high … and sure enough Japan scored off a header … off a short little Jap’s head to tie the score. Punching above their weight, err height.
So the announcers groveled and apologized for not knowing shit about the game they were ‘expertly’ calling. Pssst … yes, it helps to be tall, and a great jumper when heading the ball goalward, however just as important is placement of the cross, and WHERE one positions himself. In fact, every team has multiple set-piece coaches who design all those elements. But the ‘experts’ would already know that.
