Sukhwinder Sidhu, 31, admitted to both counts in a virtual courtroom Tuesday morning, accepting responsibility for the horrific crash that killed the new mother in Melancthon Township and injured several others, including her young son.

The guilty plea came two-and-a-half years after provincial police said Sidhu, while behind the wheel of a speeding transport truck in a construction zone along County Road 124, crashed into the back of several stopped vehicles, including a Cadillac driven by Paul, who had her 10-month-old son in the backseat at the time of the pileup.

“two-and-a-half years”…

  1. Sentencing is scheduled for the middle of May! Is the judge hoping that if he waits that long, people won’t take notice when Sidhu gets time served and a week of probation? What a wretched legal system we have.

  2. Somehow, I’m not satisfied with a guilty plea. I want to know how and why a big rig driver can plow into the rear of stopped traffic? Was he texting? Was he watching porn on his phone and rubbing one out? Did he fall asleep? Was he drunk? Was he watching Bollywood on his phone?

It’s not enough to punish him … but we must LEARN … and TRAIN all the Singhy drivers what NOT to do.

    1. I’d done enough business with that worthless lot to know the effort would be a waste of time and money. If it ain’t thieving or gaming the system…they’re not interested.

  3. pffft. this is an opportunity to remind ontariowe killers if ya wanna off sumbuddy, practice driving drunk, have some off the shelf breathalizers on hand, time the gulps, stalk them, and RUN THEM OVER!!! wheee !!!! 4 years and (horror of horrors!!! SUSPENDED license !!!! instead of the one time usual 15-20 for manslaughter!!)
