  1. I don’t approve of brainwashing. Yet, there’s nothing like a good clean brain. I’m going to have to try it.

    1. For some, a light rinse will suffice.
(One of the Democrats running for President in 1968 destroyed George Romney with that quip.)

  2. I guess, but these tactics (or apparent tactics) are so pervasive that almost any argument in any direction could be accused of employing at least some of them. It’s too broad of a brush.

I would have approached this from a different direction: What are the facts as we can best determine them, and what is the certainy of those facts?

After answering that question, we will often be left with considerable uncertainty, in which case we should say “Maybe, but not certain.” It’s not necessary to take a position every story.

    1. Poppet, getting you to question everything is also a psychological operation — one that works really well. Uncertainty is a potential goal of a good psychological operation; there are further effects as well, but that’s one of the keystones.

As for the video: it gives some valuable information but isn’t going into the deep weeds of the thing, which it really can’t for reasons. Still, he didn’t give bad advice.
Watch out for that ‘questioning everything’ though: eventually it can drive you mad…which is you guessed it.

One of the curses of the internet is that it brings to the fore those who voice opinions with complete and absolute confidence — whether they have any basis for that confidence or not — and subordinates those that are honest and intelligent enough to admit when a situation is rife with uncertainty. Stating those three words “I don’t know” is taken as a weakness, when it should be recognized as a strength.

      2. Indeed.
I put it to you that many psyops are staged, not to brainwash you, but to incite you into responding negatively. That way they’ll get a handle on who the potential troublemakers are.
