Hey Deborah MacLatchy, Where’s the Official Complaint?

Something very suspicious is now occurring at Wilfrid Laurier University:

The Waterloo Region Record has the full story:

The lawyer engaged by Wilfrid Laurier University to prepare a fact-finding report into a controversial reprimand of graduate student Lindsay Shepherd has confirmed there was never a formal complaint about her tutorial.
In a letter dated Dec. 4, and sent to Shepherd’s lawyer Howard Levitt, from the Laurier-hired lawyer Robert Centa, it reads: “You asked for a copy of the complaint or complaints filed against your client. At this point in my investigation, I do not believe there is a document that contains a ‘complaint’ made about Ms. Shepherd nor is there anything I would describe as a formal complaint under any WLU policy,” wrote Centa.

Christie Blatchford chimes in as well.
Any reasonable person must be asking themselves a simple question: “If there was no actual complaint against Shepherd then under what grounds did Nathan Rambukkana, Herbert Pimlott, and Adria Joel have to interrogate and chastise Lindsay Shepherd?”
According to the Canadian Mental Health Association, Ontario:

It is the legal duty of an employer to protect the mental and physical health of employees. That means protection from harassment, violence and bullying. Across Canada, there has been a major push through legislative amendments to make employers more accountable for fostering mentally safe work environments. This push is backed by case law which has found employers liable for exposing employees to unsafe work environments that have caused unnecessary psychological harm.

  1. Just speculating:
It appears to me that no actual complaint ever existed. Rambukkana is lying about a ‘formal complaint’ being raised, and is using the supposed existence of one as an excuse to exert emotional power over Shepherd for some reason. Based on the number of sexual harassment complaints coming public in the past year in numerous fields, could this attack on Shepherd have been a way for Rambukkana to threaten Shepherd into not going forward with a sexual harassment complaint against him? Again, just speculating.

  2. Were this occurring in the US ms. Shepherd would be well on her way to becoming a very wealthy person.

  3. Pretty darn simple solution. If you value education over indoctrination, don’t go to Wilfrid Laurier University. It is obvious they suck.

  4. Somehow I hope that this incident would begin the process of a wholesale housecleaning of all the Marxist filth that has infiltrated and taken over not only Wilfrid Laurier University but of all of them. One can dream.
Hopefully also that Lindsey comes out a big winner and the perpetrators and enablers of this travesty, including the president, all lose their jobs.

  5. Most likely a case of the complaint being withdrawn and the administration using weasel words to cover up.
“There is no document” but does this mean there was never a complaint, or that it was withdrawn?
Now please indulge me for a moment while I let loose with this conspiracy.
Said complainer who still remains anonymous, is connected to a certain left wing radical group which receives foreign funding through front groups from a certain wealthy European individual we will refer to as “George”.
As well this “group” has been organizing for a particular political party both provincially and federally skirting election law regarding third party advertising limits. The complainer in this case has likely made it clear to WLU that if they are “outed” by the administration they rat out the lot of em.
    Okay rant over.

  6. At the very least universities should be falling over themselves offering scholarships to Lindsay to demonstrate that they believe in free and open inquiry and are not subject to the WLU dogma.

  7. Wilfred Laurier University used to be Waterloo Lutheran University before the Godless Marxists took over in the 1960s. I recently saw that former Edmonton mayor, Stephen Mandel, was appointed chancellor of Concordia University of Edmonton. I thought WTF – a Jew being appointed to the management of a Lutheran Missouri Synod university. Apparently Concordia recently became Godless too. Lutherans also gave up Augustana Univerity in Camrose, Alberta, to the U of Alberta about 15 years ago. Since Lutherans started promoting boy-boy butt sex, I guess they don’t have time for education. Note – not all Lutheran churches promote butt sex, just the biggest one.

  8. It may be a case of no ‘formal’ but informal, verbal comment to the professor. And subsequent academic over reaction. Gotta’ parse legalish terms!

  9. Here you will find a recipe that you will recognize from the actions of the university central control committee and the ruling class in general in Canada today.
    How To Brainwash A Nation

The interview was conducted somewhere in the mid 80’s of the past century.
The seeds planted by the communists are clearly coming to bloom.
Pretty shocking how free society collapse onto itself without knowing what hit them, or maybe not so shocking.
Just go with the flow and you will find happiness*. Isn’t it what its all about? Happiness?*
Yeah, the socialist/fascist meetings are full of happiness*, as they masturbate each other minds how great its going to be when everything will be socialist/fascist.
However things are going from bad to worse, it can never be less emphasized that this is happening with full knowledge of free people in a free society.
How can it possibly be that free people are on a journey to serfdom.
Could it be fear that if you say something, some would be tyrant in charge will drag you to unaccountable “human rights tribunal”, tribunal being the operative word, “human rights” is a label to make it more acceptable as it points you out and destroys you. That way nobody would think that it actually controls and punishes your thoughts.
This young woman with more guts than the whole damn parliament should be made a woman of the year all with capital letters. The Wilfrid Laurier institution that some call university should disappear from the history of learning.
*there is no such thing as state of happiness.
    There are moments of happiness.
When a child is born. When one gets married…?(not knowing that as marriage evolves the intensity fades). When you do one thing or another that makes you happy for moments at a time.

  10. And another thing, this whole show trial and Lindsey Sheppard stand reminds one of this.

Now, before people start worshipping her.
Lindsey Sheppard is a human being with all the baggage that everyone carries on their backs.
She, though is breaking glass barriers and has the will to make a difference for better.

  11. To libertarians, due process is an essential component of a free society. To the far left, it’s a tool for reactionaries.

  12. Our history books, papers and articles are well on the way to being shaped as a society which views history, not as how we saw it happened, but defined by how we wished it would have happened.

  13. *
use the tools of the social justice warriors to fight this plague…
refer the matter of nathan rambukkana, herbert pimlott, and adria joel
to the ontario human rights commission and watch them fall all over
themselves trying to justify this inquisition.

  14. I’m a Lutheran and I’ve become quite disenchanted with that denomination. It’s fragmented into a so many synods now that I can’t tell which is which. Sadly, many of them are leftist and when I first encountered “liberation theology”, my attendance became less frequent.
I’m an alumnus of Augustana’s predecessor, Camrose Lutheran College. After I transferred to my university alma mater, the college began an ambitious program of expansion, something I objected to and, as a result, I stopped my donations. I’m not sure of all the details, but, when it became a degree-granting institution in the early 1980s, it changed its name, partly, I think, because it received government funding, thereby distancing itself from the Lutheran church.
The story I heard was that Augustana eventually ran itself into the ground, something I suspected might happen when it began its expansion some 40 years ago. It was bailed out by the University of Alberta when it apparently bought Augustana for a token dollar. (That story, by the way, was denied by an Augustana official I spoke with a few years ago.)

  15. And another other thing.
Growing up in a country run by communists.
Once in grade 6 or 7, associating with the “gangsters” I was given a few bullets for 20 20 rifle and brought it to school.
Of course, an unintended informant told on me and I ended up in front of 2 teachers and a policeman (it’s interesting that this crowd works in 3’s). As they started, they asked me where I got the bullets.
I simply told them that I will not tell. Interestingly, that was the end and never heard of again.
One thing about a country that had a long tradition of democracy and became fiefdom of socialists and communists was that they did admire in children the capacity of standing up to power. They, the rulers, probably thought it was unimportant and let it go.
Not that they, the rulers, liked the result, they liked the idea that children don’t have capacity to politicize things.
Must say they had respect for children.
Could be that some of them, the rulers, hoped that there is some hope for decency in future generations since their generation was going to hell in a handbasket.

  16. Very close to what I was thinking. There was no complainer. More likely a paid snitch, a minder, a rat, an ork sitting in on her class to report if she steps out of line. Ork heads need to roll. I did hear some egghead saying the troika had misinterpreted bill C-16. Just think if the inquisition had not been recorded. The misinterpreting would be firmly embedded all the while claiming C-16 as innocent and innocuous.

  17. Free speech and due process are two fundamentally important concepts that liberals and progressives have unceremoniously tossed out like yesterday’s garbage. Undoubtedly, they think that removing basic rights won’t come back to bite them in the ass, but it will. The tables will turn and they’ll arrogantly attempt to reclaim the protections they denied others. But by then the new rules of the game will have been set and non-leftist authoritarians will take full advantage of the mess that leftist authoritarians created.

  18. It sure sounds like these cretins were out to get Sheppard long before the seminar where she allegedly caused the butt-hurt to some snowflake.

  19. Howard Levitt is a heavy hitter lawyer. He’s taking up Lindsay Shepherd’s case, without charge, against Wilfred Laurier University.
I predict some administrative officials soon to be looking for other employment, and WLU will offer to settle out of court.
Lindsay Shepherd may end up with her tuition paid for up to a Doctorate level at the university of her choice. Her ability to defend her position bodes well for doing the same for a M.A. or Phd. thesis.
We’ll see how many university gender violence officer positions are eliminated as… a budget trimming measure.
Lawyers across the country will be ready, willing and able to go after the deep pockets of political corruption in Canadian universities.
Will universities begin adopting the University of Chicago Dean’s letter for free speech?
It’s their best chance of their president’s avoiding the Wilfred Laurier University’s notoriety.
Ironically, formerly called Waterloo Lutheran University. It was named after Martin Luther, the Protestant hero of free speech, who facing a possible death sentence for blasphemy said something like: “Here I stand. I can do no other.”
The counter-attack on Cultural Marxism/post-modernism is officially underway in Canada.
The true north strong and free requires defending Canadian values against enemies, both foreign and domestic.
Your grandchildren will ask: “What did you do in the culture wars?”

  20. Pederson is always described in the Canadian media as “controversial professor Jordan Pederson’.
He’s controversial because he thinks we should use the same pronouns we have used for hundreds of years.
The meatballs wanting to change the pronouns to a bunch of weird nonsense are not described as controversial by the idiot media.
I don’t think the media knows the meaning of the words they use.

  21. Throughout ALL of this whole sordid story … we have to remember that NONE of this would have seen the light of day had Ms. Shepherd not (secretly) recorded her Maoist interrogation. And Hillary would be POTUS had HER “deplorables” recording never come to light. The more the light of day is shone on these cockroaches, the more they will scurry back into the dark recesses from whence they came. We ALL need body cams as parts of our standard apparel. I’ve noticed a significant proliferation of car cams clipped to the mirrors of private automobiles. Installed to PROVE fault (and the general BAD driving habits of the general public) … and to prove LIES. We all need to wear Google glasses (can’t believe I am saying that) as we wend our way through the sick, leftist-infected politbureaus of our government and institutions.
MY President has become the “body cam” for the American people. As it is turning out … the Maoist investigation by the “Independent” Prosecutors Office is revealing a Deep (State) infestation of cockroaches in the FBI, the Justice Dept. MY President is revealing HER and Obama’s cockroaches … Winning!!! Just like Ms. Shepherd is WINNING!!!

  22. well kenji, feel free to add that to your santa wish list !!!
seriously, I periodically keep looking for just such a device for my many trips on my bicycle. LOTS of motor vehicle incursions and horns and middle fingers from that sector that seems convinced that cyclist MUST hug the curb (where parked vehicles get the doors flung open at random) etc etc

  23. ‘>”..Pederson is always described in the Canadian media as “controversial professor Jordan Pederson’..”
Its a form of “soft” Racism if I can use that word in this context…a way to casually denigrate those who are being described. Like “alt right – denier etc.” All meant to de-legitimize & denigrate whomever they are talking about.
    Classic Karl Marx methodology.
The CBC is especially good at this sort of thing….you will note that at no time will they ever show what happens in Europe vis a vis the “wonderful” job said EU nations are at assimilating their beloved Islamic migrants…and should even one story be told, they will default to describing them as…”poor family of refugees” or simply “armed militants” as opposed to ISLAMIC Terrorists. Dumbing down the language and for those not aware, the population at large.

  24. LOTS of motor vehicle incursions and horns and middle fingers from that sector that seems convinced that cyclist MUST hug the curb (where parked vehicles get the doors flung open at random) etc etc
I know all about that. Here in Edmonton, drivers seem to use cyclists for target practice. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve come close to being clipped (even when there’s an adjacent lane that’s empty) or collided with doors that suddenly opened in front of me.

  25. Wow, its almost as if these fake outrage cases burn to vapour when confronted by the Real World…

  26. Gord;
All she has to do is reveal that she is a moose-lamb and she should get a 50 million dollar payout?!?

  27. Wasn’t Luther was the first SJW?
One needs to remember that Luther didn’t set out to be a reformer or revolutionary. His objective in nailing the 95 Theses to the door of the church in Wittenburg was discussion and debate.
He didn’t even like the fact that the dissident faction of the church had been named after him.

  28. Remember when feel they’re being targeted, then they’re being targeted, even if they never complained at all.
Responding to statist temper tantrums will enrich our society eh? Methinks this prof has some ‘splaining to do.
Perhaps Ms Shepherd hasn’t the right to face her “accusers.” Quite debatable imho. Somebody may have been caught in a lie.
University officials can certainly be let in on the secret. They won’t do that of course, but they will quite likely be compelled.

  29. any university, college, high school that tells someone what they cannot say is not teaching, they are indoctrinating.

  30. Yes, her recording this incident produced some very positive results, and it ranks up there with the good done some years ago, when Ezra Levant recorded his confrontation with the Human Rights Tribunal lady. Sunlight, disinfects.

  31. “Rule #1 when dealing with SJWs.
    ‘Social Justice warriors always lie'”
    That’s actually Rule #2.
Rule #1: “Record everything they say”

  32. “Any reasonable person must be asking themselves a simple question: ‘If there was no actual complaint against Shepherd then under what grounds did Nathan Rambukkana, Herbert Pimlott, and Adria Joel have to interrogate and chastise Lindsay Shepherd?'”
That’s easy. They made a citizen’s arrest because Shepherd committed a thoughtcrime. It was on the grounds of maintaining conformity and unanimity of thought at Laurier. For further explanation see “1984” by Orwell, George.
