I came across a rather amusing simile about Russia recently: it’s like a paralysed man that comes to an Olympic competition and demands first place, threatening to burn the whole stadium down if left without a medal. To me, the simile seems almost as perfect as Dudayev’s description of the Russian national idea (living neck-deep in shit and wanting to drag everyone else into it).
