    1. Don’t forget all the business, including loans, that Brookfield Asset Management has with China.

      1. Around 2021 Brookfield Asset Management (BAM) began investing in China. When Carney became prime minister I started to collect data, from annual reports, showing BAM’s investment in China. But in 2023, after Carney became chair of BAM’s board-of-directors, BAM no longer showed a country-by-country breakdown of investment dollars. Note that BAM is increasing its investments in China, where other corporations are withdrawing operations in the despotic country.

  1. Any experts know why I don’t have any bees in my backyard?
    Cold month of May?
I’m not referring to honey bees, but all the other ones.
Apparently there are over 800 species in Canada.
A few Bumbles have been around, but mostly its deserted. We have flowering perennials and my girlfriend has planted pots full of annuals.
I can’t find current info on the stupid interweb.
    Happy Friday.

I normally have a couple of hives nearby me in central N Calgary but haven’t seen any yet, and the annual ladybug explosion didn’t happen this year, last year in some areas of the back lawn there were 10-20 per 100cm sq area, I didn’t cut the lawn until I had to. nor spray anything on it, so they had free reign back there. I don’t know how else to encourage the little carnivores though.

    2. Forest fire smoke? Smoke is a good bug deterrent and killer, as anyone around a campfire knows, sit downwind to avoid bugs. The smoke has been BAD.

    3. I’ve been seeing those posts on X too.
Give it a month. People are thinking of August, when bees have been hatching for months. When its hot and dry and the bee flowers are packed, because they’re the only thing flowering.
The few bees that are out now have choices this time of year.

    4. I don’t have any bees in my backyard, yet I constantly encounter their sons in the streets. Damned sons of bees…
