Usual blather about “all of the above” which in commie-speak means insanely expensive wind and solar with batteries for the chosen and manure fires for the serfs to huddle around. Voting for this is insanity.
So, we put these ugly monstrosities of turbines, coupled with transmission towers, all over our province of the living skies – to do what exactly…keep the lights on in Ontario?? Insert famous expression here.
We know turbines are an energy drain, finance drain, and environmental disaster. We know inter-connects suck up all investment capital from energy providers and do little to stabilise the grid.
How about we just stick to what we know works, why not try that?
As well as the usual Dipper poke at Alberta.
“NDP Energy Critic Aleana Young”
…”we have the best potential for wind and solar in Canada. Building out renewables adds value to land, spurs investment, and high-paying construction and manufacturing jobs. When the wind blows and the sun shines, we can make hay (well, money) by exporting to our neighbours. And when it doesn’t, then our homegrown power plants provide while transmission ensures we have access to low-cost power when the price is right. ”
Wind and solar? Whatever.
She is in the NDP, how can she be a “NDP Energy Critic?”
Empty rhetoric from a vapid empty headed politician. What’s funny is that she mugs for the camera at an O & G show, trying to show how she is “one of you”. Another interesting thing is that she specifically mentions “Laurentian Elite” now. If it wasn’t for double standards, they’d have none at all considering they were until about 12 months ago in lock step with the feds on all things “climate”. But now, we’re supposed to believe that they’re all “Team Saskatchewan” now…… pathetic
When Saskatchewan makes enough wind and solar they can export it, I will be rich beyond belief shorting their bonds. Neither of those things can happen, so it is fun to mock.
When weather conditions are right for “lots” of wind and solar, don’t most companies have to sell power at very low cost because there’s little demand for power?
Anybody who promotes wind and solar energy is not to be taken seriously.
L- +++ , solar and wind energy I serves as a boutique energy source that serves to increase
energy instability and price. It’s the favoured energy for the Peter Pans and Tinker Bells
of globalists politicians.
Pimping the mindless mushy middle with inane narratives untethered to the laws of physics and knowledge of economics.
This op-ed by the NDP energy critic is actually a good thing. With this kind of nonsense as their energy platform, Saskatchewan voters are that much less likely to vote for the socialists in a future election.
You underestimate the stupidity of the average Canadian voter who will barely look up from their phone to actually learn about how the world works. A last second oh this looks good decision as they head to the polls. Especially if the candidate mentions climate saving and free stuff.
So you assume that all voters are stupid? By all means run out onto the street and shriek that “you are all freaking morons!” This will do wonders for your life expectancy. You managed to come up with a comment almost as idiotic as Thor’s below.
Really?
I am forever doomed to live in an NDiPper hellhole, as are many other Canadians. Ontario just yesterday still has 27 NDiPper seats in the province.
These voters cannot be reasoned with, or have an ordinary political conversation with, the blank stare will get you if nothing else will.
Do you honestly believe that the Ontario PC voters won’t vote Lieberal federally? Give your head a shake if you do.
Regina and Saskatoon will decide who runs the province. As city dwellers, they don’t know, or care, where the electricity comes from.
it’s bad enough Zinchuk has been given a platform here to spout his nazi supporting rhetoric. Now Zincuck is giving card carrying NdP retards a platform for their propaganda.
It’s called balanced journalism. There are more than one side in anything. If you don’t like that, move to China where the party line is the only line.
You are right about the non-reference to coal. Saskatchewan and Alberta had the cheapest possible source of electricity via surface coal mining. The new Green Communists want to have everyone forget this inconvenient fact.
As for Thor, try to ignore him. I agree with you about balance and different viewpoints. There are all too many commenters on SDA who loathe any perspective except their own.
So, the NDP are actually worse than Nazis? Worth knowing!
Coal?
Whats that?
And you be right ZERO mention.
For some reason the “intellectuals ” cannot understand power generation.
Coal has so many advantages over unreliables and generates a steady stream of life giving CO2 to the vegetable world that feeds us.
Coal burning plants are proven technology and have a real ROI,
Return on investment.
Running for 50 years on basic maintenance and initial investment.
And usually they are built on the coal field,so the transport costs are low, reliability is near 100%.
But where is the opportunity for Gang Green to rape the public treasury in rational development?
I wonder if the failure is intentional.
If no one expects success,is the complete disappearance of the tax money less likely to be questioned?
The Never Done Paying representative is picture perfect ,typical Gang Green follower and gloriously ignorant of what she lectures us on.
Good catch.
I think it’s important to sometimes include the other side’s opinions. I often see what’s being reported at BBC for example, only to know how twisted they are.
I don’t agree with her, nor the other NDP positions, but that’s not the point of this either…
Say what? NDP advocating for dams? Since when? Hahaha!
As if the Eviros would let you build a dam!
“Manitoba, for all their hydro abundance, could be challenged to build a new dam and grow their generation significantly beyond their own electrification needs.”
A quick search seems Manitoba has 15 hydroelectric dams.
B.C. hundreds.
Manitoba is far too flat to seriously increase hydro production.
So besides being contradictory to the environmental base she is ignorant of geography. Typical NDP.
Lake Winnipeg is 712 feet above Hudson Bay. There are several places in Manitoba where more dams could be installed, and not just on the outflow of Lake Winnipeg.
You cannot get past the local here firsters, or the NDP government, they even complain about the dams already here.
Thank-you for agreeing with me.
BTW Mica Dam Revelstoke 787′
Elevation 2392′
Hudson Bay would be sea level, give or take strong tides.
