  1. Amazing what a little care and maintenance can do. If only the Getty staff had been in charge of Pacific Pallisades, not Karen and the Kristys’

  2. So it seems like they’re saying that a combination of appropriate construction for the area, preventative maintenance and astute vigilance stopped the fire from destroying the property. Who would have thought that would work?

  3. I’m willing to bet that not a single one of those Getty employees is paid $450k/yr. like hundreds of LAFD Fire Captains are paid many of whom are already retired (at age 50) and are double-dipping to the tune of nearly $1M/yr. in total compensation.

Just think of that. Our grotesquely overpaid public employees have shirked their responsibilities… indeed have deflected and pinned those responsibilities on the fire victims … global warming … high winds … failed water supply … blocked roadways … anything and everything other than their own failure to Protect and Serve.

    1. BTW … all those LAPD police cars that used to be emblazoned with the noble motto “To Protect and Serve” … were stripped of those decals decades ago.

Yeah … that isn’t just “progressive” rebranding to now call them “First Responders” … it’s cultural rot. It’s a new ambiguous mission statement. “Just show up and observe the disaster”.

  4. The Getty museum is a fireproof fortress. If all of LA is razed to the ground the museum will be open to the public the next day. They knew there was a fire risk when they built it. The Villa was probably constructed likewise.
