    1. MIRVS are multiple re-entry vehicles. They are a vehicle for a warhead. Modern missiles carry a number of those. So if put a conventional warhead instead of a nuke, you can put all kinds of toys up there. A big warhead, a penetrator warhead, cluster munitions like maybe in this case. Or all of the above.

          Word on Telegrams and runets is that “slopes got f@#$ed” on the front lines around Kursk.         3. I skimmed this article and so may have missed some important information. But as I read it, Great Britain is leading the NATO response with munitions from the United States and that the UK, France and United States under Biden, are trying to put a ticking time bomb in place for the incoming Trump administration.
          That is too bad, clearly, these 3 countries could care less about the civilian deaths or the ending of the war, there is money to be made. It is too bad that Ukraine was politically naive and allowed their country to go to war against Russia. This will not end well for Ukraine.
          It is actually my preference that incoming President Trump “nuke” NATO and all the candy-ass countries who are not pulling their weight (Canada most of all).

      2. Yes, I know what MIRVs are, these seemed like MIRVs that fragmented or something else. If these were traditional MIRVs than every MIRV would come as a single blast, these came in salvos (?). Hence the unknown. Also no warhead or submunitions just kinetic. A missile like this would have three options not unlimited number of options, nuclear, non-nuclear, training. Looks like the third option hence only kinetic, … which would be rather stupid. We will see.

      3. Some OSINT rumors are growing that this was an NK missile… maybe? Neither russia nor Ukraine have an interest in arguing it wasn’t a russian ICBM (IC stands for Intercontinental btw). But using a very expensive test/training missile with dummy warheads makes little sense… plenty of speculating going back and forth.

I remember being in class at my junior high school in Calgary when our principle came on the PA and told everyone that President Kennedy had been assassinated and then dismissed the school so that we could all go home and watch TV to learn about it. It was one of those events like 9/11 or the moon landing when you remember where you were and what you were doing.

    2. I was in 3rd year engineering at U of M. We had a late morning lab that was cancelled so we took that as a sign we should go to the pub (the long gone Montcalm motor hotel). That is where we saw the news on a small black and white TV. I still have witnesses to prove I was there and not on the grassy knoll.

    3. Indeed, John. I remember that as well. I was at Henry Wise Wood High in grade 11 in Calgary and had an American boyfriend. He was devastated and I was shocked. I do not think we got a half-day off, but it was awful for everyone, as about 1/3 of my friends/neighbours were Americans with parents working in Canada. We watched the news for many days. It was around lunch hour when the news spread at school, from the TV mill. Most of us probably learned nothing that afternoon, but gave our American friends hugs.

      It was definitely a life-changing time. Suddenly, the world seemed less safe to me. We grew up in Calgary without turmoil, so it was terrifying, even though US history tells us that other Presidents were also assassinated before we lived.

            MRBM – medium range ballistic missile
            IRBM – intermediate range ballistic missile

            First two are not like the last three, anything like the last three is typically hypersonic, anything like either first or second is not. What russians used was like the last three hence by definition hypersonic. Idjit.

    They think they have a deficit of $9 million but that’s after they emptied out their reserve fund of $14.3 million. Which means their deficit is really $24 million.

    In other words the city is spending too much money on government and not getting enough money from tax payers. Not a situation that looks to be improving any time soon.

I live in Regina, the past city council and mayor loved to spend money on stupid things and Calgary, under the crazy mayor (I thought his purple majesty, Nenshi was bad!) emptied out the snow clearing budget for something stupid like social programs.
      I used to write letters to various people in governments (all levels), I have given up, the “stupid is strong” with these people!
