Telegraph- Pharmaceutical giants knowingly sold HIV-infected treatment to NHS

Internal documents from American pharmaceutical companies show they knew a “wonder drug” made from human plasma could transmit HIV to patients, but they sold it regardless.

Some 1,250 people in the UK contracted HIV in the 70s and 80s from Factor VIII, a treatment for the bleeding disorder haemophilia. Up to 5,000 more also contracted hepatitis C.

    “Less than a month after the Krever Report was released, the RCMP launched a five-year investigation into the tainted blood disaster. In 2002, the RCMP laid 32 charges in total against two senior bureaucrats at Health Canada, the head of the Red Cross’ blood program, and a vice-president of Armour Pharmaceutical, a New Jersey company that manufactures Factor VIII concentrate for use by hemophiliacs. The company itself was also charged, as was the Canadian Red Cross Society.

    On 30 May 2005, the Red Cross pleaded guilty to violating the Food and Drug Regulation Act by distributing an adulterated or contaminated drug. It was fined $5,000, which was the maximum penalty for the offence under the Act. The criminal charges were dropped.”

    1. Remember it well. The health authorities at that time were telling 16-year-old heterosexual virgins they were at risk of AIDS if they had unprotected sex. That was the beginning of my questioning of health authorities.
      Imagine where it is now.

      1. I remember too. A friend with a joint bleeding disorder was infected with HIV from blood products. He did a lot to move the Krever inquiry while he lived. I like to say HIV from tainted blood killed him, but it didn’t beat him.

  2. Wasn’t Slick Willie selling blood products from Arkansas prisoners as part of this whole disaster?

    1. No worries , but I do wonder if they plan to inject the control group as well, or did they only do that with the Covid injections?
      But I’m sure there’s a scientific paper explaining that away as well as any other “blunder”.

Thanks to the Canadian Red Cross and their purchase of a big load hillbilly blood curtosey of then Governor William Jefferson Clinton and the Arkansas prison system, my late father, a moderate hemophilia sufferer, got acquainted with Hep C. It lay dormant in his system since 1986 and manifested as full blown Hep C in January 2017. On May 26th of the same year it morphed into stage 4 liver cancer. He received 24 hour home care for one week, then entered palliative care. One week later he slept 24/7 and he died 2 weeks later on June 30th. Fcuk Bill Clinton, the RCMP, the Red Cross and Canadian politicians.
