Your days are numbered.
Spectator- Do many women want to be train drivers?
Personally, I had expected this diversity obsession to remain fixed on high-status professions. Because it was noticeable that, for example, while the vast preponderance of road-layers who mix the tarmac to sometimes fill in the nation’s potholes are men, there is yet to be an outcry along the lines of ‘none of us are free until women are made to lay more tarmac’. Now it seems that the age is indeed even madder than I thought.

they dont run vac trucks or honey wagons either .
hydrovacs are too physical . and honey wagons have issuances that are not savoury
they dont tend to be infantry either unless they are les bians . something ive seen by direct observation. and they tend to be the diesel dyke type though still considerably under strength ., testosterone is a hellava drug
Funny, we had a female vac truck operator last week, from a company we have never seen on site before, everyone was surprised.
vac or hydrovac?
slight or diesel dyke
I’m more concerned with the fact that three out of four NBA players are black. We need to get more white players in there ASAP…(because equality or inclusion or something)…
And lower the rims.
“And lower the rims.”
LOL…yeah, make it more fair to short guys.
But… doesn’t Tim Horton say, to roll up the rims to win?
I did RR track demolition to put myself through college when I was much younger. That job included an average of about 100 degrees F. in the summer, creosote burns on your arms, constant wariness of snakes hiding under rotting RR ties, and the added pleasure of being teamed up with various prison work release participants (which always guaranteed interesting stories).
Added to that was that you would have to stack RR ties (which can weigh as much as 100 lbs.) on a forklift five high. The fifth would always have to be flipped to get the dirt off it.
I know few women (actually none) who could have done that at the efficiency level required.
I would love to see a bunch of these pink-haired whiners handed a shovel and set to paving driveways. At piece-work, no hourly.
Painting was my trade, and the number of women I hired who were worth their pay I can count on one hand. Can’t carry a ladder alone, won’t climb it anyway. “I’m not going all the way up there!” was heard with great frequency. “But I’m a girl!” was also heard.
Oh well, girls. Better get busy with that frickin’ ladder and get some paint on that wood or you don’t get no money.
I was a painter for some years, self-employed in partnership with a woman. She didn’t like heights so that was a natural division of labour, and I did the lifting and carrying that was too heavy for her, as I would have done for a male partner much smaller than I am. But she did some things better than I can and was certainly worth her half. I wouldn’t expect as much from an employee, male or female.
And why I roll my eyes with a “Yeah, right” when I see a petite 5’6″ FBI agent with immaculate nails ju jitsuing a 6’4″ 250 lb. thug into submission on TV.
Wishful thinking NBC.

I have abandoned more TV and cable series (and movies ) than I can remember for that very reason….most recently The Continental. And I have ceased watching still more for the ridiculous inclusion of black, Asian and Indian characters in period pieces (not to mention gender-swapping and/or turning historical characters gay).
I vote with my wallet, always. Want my money? DON’T insult my intelligence.
Ditto for me Fred.
Deep state propaganda is more like it…
The FBI doesn’t deserve the reputation that hollywood built and maintains for them.
Do they have a “men’s studies” department at university or is that called engineering?
In my younger days I was a looker, my dad tried to teach me how to change a flat tire. I refused to learn, I told him “God gave me tear ducks and boobs” for a reason. When is the last time you saw a purple haired roofer?
Refreshingly honest, Rose.
Would have loved to see the look on your dad’s face, Rose.
Bombardier employs a bunch of female conductors for the GO trains.
But honestly, no one wants to be the conductor because the job sucks.
OGF was a Union carpenter (UBC). Did mostly screw-wall; metal studs and sheetrock, with the occasional gravy job doing set-up for trade shows. Still, mad props for keeping at it for a lifetime. She was VERY Union; shop steward, Local Treasurer and such like. She’s retired now, nice pension and SS. Calls me up to help her out on projects. (I’m a cabinetmaker grade carpenter, as well as electrician, plumber, and basically the whole building trades skillset.)
She had a roomie for a while, BIG woman, who ‘walked the line’ for Southern Pacific, doing rail inspections. No idea what happened to her, their dogs didn’t get along. (A white boxer named Angelina Snowqueen, and a russet Doberman named, predictably, Rojo. Odin Underfoot, the cat, remained regally aloof, as is the way ofhis people.)
Tajikqua the Tank Engine?
Certain mentality to be a train driver. Willing one week to get up at 3am to go into work. Willing the next week to be at work until 3am. Willing to miss your childs school plays more often than not. Prepared to miss social events (or if you do manage to fit them in, watch as everybody else gets lubricated while you drink coke). Like being on your own for a couple of hours at a time. Being able to maintain concentration over long periods. etc. etc……
Lots of blokes don’t want that, never mind women.
Modern train driving isn’t the least bit physical (other than climbing in and out of the cab) and I’ve trained loads of women to be train drivers over my career (42 years) and on the whole they are just as good as the men. The biggest difference from the company perspective is a woman having kids and taking maternity leave.
96% of work related deaths are men. Ladies, you don’t know what you’re missing.
