CFL Picks Week 11

It’s Labour Day weekend! Classic rivalries and classic upsets usually define the games played this week.
Thursday: Ottawa at Montreal. Ottawa nearly gave it away last week after Lulay came in, but managed to hang on and win. Have they figured it out? I’m picking the RedBlacks.
Sunday: Winnipeg at Saskatchewan. As I mentioned last week, the Bombers is the team to watch in the latter half of the season. I’m going to have to amend that to include the Riders after their performance in Edmonton last week. The Bombers already had their win at Mosaic this year, I’m going with the Riders.
Monday: Edmonton at Calgary. The Eskimos were in tough last week, the Stamps did what they do. They’ll continue this trend this week.
Monday: Toronto at Hamilton. The TiCat’s had a horrible week in which they managed to lose again without playing a game. They’ll win this week and perhaps begin to repair the damage done to their fan-base.

  1. Riders will be tough for my Bombers, especially at Mosaic. So …. Bombers win close one (Kevin Glen gets knocked out of game), but Riders gain revenge week later at Banjo Bowl.

  2. Hm,I hate to agree with ya,Lance,as I’m a disagreeable person by nature, but I think you’ve got ’em all covered. Last week I was 2/4, don’t see any surprises this week though.
    Ottawa over Montreal
    Saskabush over Winnipeg
    Calgary over Edmonton
    Toronto over Hamilton
Maybe,if Durant gets hot and Ottawa’s Q/B plays like the high school q/b he sometimes emulates, Montreal could squeeze out a win.

  3. I think that you are about 75% this week Lance.
Ottawa over Montreal. The red blacks have taken longer to get over their Grey Cup hangover than I thought they would.
The Riders over the Bombers. The Riders are tough at home, but can they continue to play over their heads this week against the “Never Quit” bombers. Yes I think they will.
The Stamps are hard to beat at home, Edmonton played poor the last two games. This will be the game of the week, or the Riders vs. Bombers will be. Two great games, or two blow outs? I don’t know.
TO over the Hammer, but no one cares.

  4. Good calls.
Love the whole Banjo-Bowl thing. The first game is a 4300 MARWOODfamily tradition for us….Green IS the colour that day.

  5. Sorry for the 4300 MARWOOD…that was from the verification CAPTCHA below the post, I have no idea why it showed up in the post.

  6. Hamilton has been totally Looped.. They beat themselves… BC is in the same boat..Nobody can catch a football….They remind me of TO back in the 70’s.. Hot dog receivers who are better defensive backs…
Edmonton can beat Calgary if they have a MLB .. The defense has been pitiful over the center…..Running & tight-end 10 yard hits. The whole defense suffers from the lose of a REAL MLB
WPG will lose badly.. The Sask defense is jumping routes (they discovered they have feet for running).. and WPG double Coverage for Rider Carter will cost them everywhere… The Red Zone QB change will work, Glen fades after getting down to the Red Zone.
Toronto can lose any game, like the WPG win… Terrible Coach who is not engaged in this world…
Montreal, Edmonton, Sask, Ticats & Toronto both lose..

  7. I’m taking Hamilton. They’ve got that new Baylor coach Briles. Yeah that should help.

  8. All good solid picks this week Lance, I concur. Both the Riders and Stamps games will be riveting CFL action at its best.

  9. They dropped Briles like the proverbial hot potato, and the team owner apologized to the CFL for suggesting Hamilton recruit him.
