I see a bright future in small appliance repair similar to Cuba’s backyard mechanics keeping mid 20th century cars in driving condition.
At this rate the western world won’t make it that far.
My ancestors settled on the unforgiving prairies and survived all the hardships that entails (including getting electrocuted by lightning) so I’m pretty sure I can survive under less primitive conditions than they faced. People and rural communities band together in bad times, thankfully.
A positive attitude is defiantly a strength, regardless whether you personally have the ability to survive off the grid, 99% of western populations can’t and there would be abundant slaughter & anarchy should the “lights go out”.

Hey…it is a saving of $31/year for every man, woman and child (if the US population is 350 million by then) Add in the saving for A/C, stoves, fridges, etc… and you could end up saving the cost that will enable you to buy high quality bugs to eat, instead of foraging for ant hills.
