It’s not that you can’t use a gun for self-defense in Canada, but when you apply for a firearms license you must state what you want it for and self-defense won’t be accepted as a reason for wanting a gun. Once you have a gun, licensed or not, if you do use it for self-defense you’ll have to justify your actions to a court of law, same as if you used a pointed stick, a knobbly club, or a frying pan.

    As usual Trudeau doesn’t really know what he’s talking about but is glib enough and gullible enough to convince himself he’s smarter than he is.

      Even if we had the right to use a gun to defend ourselves the lawful storage requirements make it impossible.

    2. Canadians do have a right to protect themselves, it goes way back to the Bill of Rights and common law. If you kill someone defending yourself and it can be demonstrated to be the case you will get off. It’s just that the Lieberals don’t want people to realize it; they want to disarm the public because their plans with the WEF are not going to be tolerated by the public very well when they wake up in numbers.
      If you do use a firearm to defend yourself, you will be in a pile of trouble. The very same in the US. In Canada and in the US if you use a firearm to protect you and your family, expect to be instantly $100 to 150K in the hole with lawyers. In the US if you carry, there is insurance available that will cover those expenses. Not sure if tiy could get that in Canada.

  14. I can’t speak about Canada, but in the USA, I keep waiting for law enforcement to use the laws, already on the books, to go after gang bangers and wannabes in the inner city. Instead, they hassle the law abiding, because that’s easy, and because they are cowards.

They believe that when confronted by a violent, physically aggressive predator, the victims should take one for the team, and accept GBH, maybe permanent damage, including brain damage, or death.   18. It does not matter what Trudeau says. The Supreme Court of Canada ruled in 2004 Kerr vs Queen. That our Common Law Right to Self Defense over rights everything. The law cited by the Supreme Court was the Magna Carta right of self defense using any weapon of any discription. Even an illegal concealed weapon.

    A few years ago there was a murder and a threat of an armed man around in a neighbourhood many blocks south and the assault rifles – the real ones with selective fire and 20 round mags – were out quicker than shit through a goose on Parliament Hill.

    This is what Juthtin wants, a heavily armed police state protecting him and his fellow statists.
    But in order to be able to walk around like he’s Emperor Impervious, Juthtin needs to remain in power.

    Small town in Ontario, a disgruntled ex-employee caught the attention of the police after his ex boss called them regarding on going harassment.
    Weeks later the ex employee shows up at bosses house in the night and tries to bash the door in and gain entry. Ex boss sends his wife and daughter out the back door and calls 911. The ex boss states he has a firearm as the front door tries to resist the attempts of the deranged guy. The police are en route but are still many minutes away.
    Ex boss states he will shoot the guy if he gets in and the dispatcher confirms that he is to do what he needs to.
    Ex employee breaks down the door and faces the onslaught promised and is killed.

    The ex boss faced no charges.
