  1. Not to be flippant, but I would guess maybe he had a variety of different looks over the years

    Go back and look at some of your own photographs in a 10 year period, particularly if you lived in the 60s

    The Beatles for example had pretty dramatic changes and set the stage culturally

    No reason to think that things needed to be particularly static 2000 years ago

  3. Interesting. Jesus would have looked like most Jews of his day as he was not recognized as being unusual looking in any way.

    Read an article many years ago, written by an individual who asked historians and archeologists to depict Jews of Jesus’ time. Interestingly all of them had more negroid like appearances than what we see now. Now we get what appeases our sensibilities/EGOS

  5. We may never really know. Buddha (died 400 BCE) was not depicted as a person until Alexander the great did some conquering and brought about the Greco -Bactrian kingdom. About 200 BCE Greek sculpture and iconography were adapted and Apollo became the model for the Buddha. So that buddha with the crazy hair and top knot can thank the Greeks.
