  1. Wow, that was a trip down memory lane or Zyzx Road. Our family drove down the road on a trip from L.A. to Vegas in 1964. I actually remember swimming in the pool. We had lunch and continued on our way. I can’t ask anymore, but I think my mother was curious, when she saw the sign for Zyzx Road, having probably heard Springer on the air at one time. So, my father, always curious himself, made the turn. If memory serves me correctly, Springer’s clientele was older, but my brother and I were happy for the pool and relief from the desert heat, since our Canadian car did not have a/c.

  3. One of the things that surprised and amused me was that in California in the 1950s there were building codes for structures out in the middle of nowhere.
