My take is that Mr Hansen is not a card carrying Lieberal Party member and “ Elbows Up!” chanter. All of the previous “astronauts” became Lieberal MPs and cabinet ministers. And one became a Lieberal appointed GG.
Otherwise, I was aware of the mission but not aware that one team member was a Kanuckistanian.
I don’t actually care that much. If the mission were anything more than a sideshow they wouldn’t send a Canadian.
The Soviet Union used to send “cosmonauts” from its satellite countries on routine missions for propaganda purposes. In reality, these “cosmonauts” were just passengers on the mission. The Soviet cosmonauts were the only ones trusted with the actual work related to the mission.

Saw a couple of news stories about it on Global and CTV, right after the baby animals stories at the end of the show. I went over the bios on the NASA web site and this looks like a solid crew. They are not served well by the media narrative of “first black this and first woman that”. I don’t have a lot of trust in the rocket nor the capsule, hopfully all goes well.
Yes I knew a Canuck was a crew member. News media has covered it.
My question is why. Because we can? What is to be gained by going to the moon?

with computer controls, the prospect of a GPS system for the moon, no need for food, water, toilet facilities, oxygen, climate controls, the number of ONE WAY robot rovers for the cost and technical challenges.
we . . . . . . . . . dont . . . . . . . . . need . . . . . . . . . . . humans . . . . . . . . on . . . . . . . . . the . . . . . . . . . . . moon.
except rare missions to service the robots, taking repair parts, retrieving samples etc.
and we dont need the ISS and stay away from Mars odds of dying exceed the space shuttle.
Well, since the US was the first to step foot on the Moon, we will be expecting and requiring a Land Acknowledgement from the Canadian.

Forgive my lack of excitement … but “moon mission”? I call false advertising. They’re not actually going TO the moon … but they’re flying around it? Once? Be still my soul. But they’re taking a Canadian and an ugly woman … and a couple of metro-men. Yeah, seems like a woke propaganda mission.
