Canadian Slaughter Steer Prices (Week of March 7, 2026)
Alberta: Fed steer prices closed the week at approximately $315.28 per hundredweight (cwt). Dressed sales in Alberta were reported in the range of $520–$530 per cwt delivered, marking an increase of $5–$7 per cwt from the previous week.
Ontario: Steer and heifer prices were up $1–$3 per cwt from the previous week, with dressed sales reported at $530 per cwt delivered.

After the industrial carbon tax rises on 1. April 2026 the grocery stores will be slipping those steaks into a security bag with a lock and someone named Habibe Noshank will escort you to the till (NOT the self check out till) …
I think PM Marx Carnage is having steak tonight..
No kidding.
My wife bought a roast last year at a Save on in Kelowna, and a beeper sounded even though it was paid for. They apologized.
As for tenderloin, I saw it at $164 a kg the other week.
We used to enjoy a couple of tenderloin fillets once a month, but that was back then.
Now we balk at the price of “extra lean” burger and opt for merely “lean”.
Still splurging on good chicken breasts, though.
If this keeps up, then the squirrels in my yard are going to be in trouble.
My wife corrected me. It wasn’t $164 a kg, but was $120 something.
My bad.
Still ridiculously expensive, though.
Pretty soon it will only be Carney’s circle of friends that can afford beef, while the little people dine on bugs because cattle farts or something.
Good! But not high enough by half. Let the pricks that voted for this shitshow pay through the nose.
I have to agree. Prices need to double. The people who brought us this must feel the consequences…. But sadly, they will blame The Orange Man down south.
You have to cut out the retailers and buy from a local farm to fork operation.
I just picked up a beef quarter for $5.20 /lb cut, wrapped and delivered to a central pickup location in our town.
I haven’t bought beef from a store for years.
That’s in the range of what we pay, we buy two wholes and divide them up with family and neighbors. A half lasts the two of us a year, with some left over. Bought a half of pork for $350 cut/wrapped and a whole lamb for around the same last fall.
Pretty much the same thing here at my N.CA COSTCO stores. The ONLY beef I buy anymore is when Safeway puts a random cut on special … in their “discount” meat case.
I can only assume the 20-50 million illegals in my country are outbidding me for the beef … just like they are outbidding my children for housing … as there are 12 unrelated illegals banding together into a tiny home.
Or is there monopoly in slaughterhouse?
Certainly that.
BTW … something I NEVER saw in the meat case when growing up is packages of really thin cut steaks and rounds. Labeled as for fajitas and tacos. Nope. Never saw that in the 1970’s.
Or is there monopoly in slaughterhouse?
Massaged daily by Amish virgins. But is it halal?
Seriously. Speaking of which … how much for Kobe tenderloins? I understand that’s what Gavin eats while sipping his Château Lafite Rothschild.
ha HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAA CanaDUH. keep at it !!! keep casting votes for the Liberals !!!! everything on track to utterly destroy everything good and nice this “post national state” was and could still have been except for the TURDeau and TURDeau 3.0 TURD TURD TURDEAU TURD (etc etc)
And the herds keep getting smaller.
This is what a top down command economy looks like.
While our politicians brag about opening new export markets.
For which there is no economic case…La La La La La La La…The Sox Legacy.
Obama was a White Sox fan … and your last PM wore anything BUT white socks. Hmmmm?
There is a problem with beef. Do farmers cash in today or do they hold back their heifers hoping the price is still good a couple years down the road when calves start falling out of them.

Different, of course, if they are Islamic heifers.
Got a brisket flat for 8.69/# US. Curing it for St Patricks.
How much do pitchforks and tar cost?
L – Given P.M. Carney’s announced “strategic relationship” with China, in play. The nine million members of the C.C.P. and families will be eating Canadian beef daily. It being raised on the millions of agricultural acres sold to them, at fire sale auction prices. This by Brookefield Canada’s top Liquidation Auctioneer, The Right Honourable, Mark Carney.
Or Not. Alberta will be voting for not. Saskatchewan will follow suit or learn to beg with rice bowls for crickets and rice, evermore.
Instead of addressing the problem, what are the realities and excuses?
Canadian beef sold in Vietnam, cheaper than here.u
Australian beef on Canadian shelves, because it’s far cheaper.
“Beef is bad for you, eat chicken!”
Coming soon?
3D printed laboratory protein goo, sold as “steak”.
The LIEberal government hates us.
Tenderloin is my least favourite cut. I mean, I’ll eat it but it’s rib-eye, striploin, sirloin, flank, inside then outside round.
