Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Good one.
I think both takes are not hitting the mark.
Sec. of War, Pete Hegseth says ‘hello’.
A person very close to me had a front row seat at Abbey Gate; one poppy for every friend who didn’t make it back…I don’t have a problem with that tat; I don’t think they’d care what you thought of it, but it might say something more about the person judging than the wearer and has nothing to do with whatever feminist crap Daisy is spewing.
The responses here bring me joy — that’s the spirit! keep up the good work!
I personally don’t have tattoos and don’t plan on getting one at this stage in my life. All in all – no regrats.
I have no problem with women and tattoos.
I’m thankful for the visible warning signs. You know, like bear claw prints on the hiking path to let you know you could be in danger if proceeding.
I’ll add unusual body piercings and hair colour to this as well.
For many, a tattoo is a permanent solution to a temporary state of mind.
I agree with all of the above comments and add this one – my sister and I traveled to Italy in the last week of November/first week of December in 2008. It was a wonderful trip, beautiful country, beautiful weather (+20C typically) and the men and women dressed very well. I appreciate that it was the beginning of winter and so many people wore jackets and long pants, but we saw NO tattoos, No long fake fingernails (on the women) and everyone dressed well – they took pride in their appearances. My sister and I quickly realized that we had to “step up our game”.
What has happened to North American society?
While there is something to be said for being well turned out (when the occasion warrants it), let us not forget that Europe (of which Italy is a part, an habitually messed up part) is a freaking mess and no amount of sartorial elegance (however nice; my father’s people are famous for turning out in style!) is going to fix that.
And I brought up Sec. of War Hegseth because what was one of the first things people nattered on about with him? Oh yes…his tattoos…
And I circle back around to my acquaintance of the poppies tats…who happens to be female by the way — definitely a trash woman, obviously, the tats prove it…she should have coped with watching people turned into mushy pink goo by taking up the clean girl beauty routine!
Hey, you know who doesn’t have tattoos (that we know of)? Ghislaine Maxwell!
I hope you can see where I’m going with this.
I don’t really care, but I will say: this is rather similar to the conversations that I heard leftist academics have in the numerous institutional break rooms where I’ve taken my lunch: it may have been something more like “those people and their pick-up trucks” but it was the same damn conversation…just something to think about. Here to serve.
Old joke.
First man: Only sailors and whores have tattoos.
Second man: Hey wait a second! My daughter has tattoos!
First man: Oh? Navy or Coast Guard?
You can always find exceptions. I find that an odd way to honor the fallen, however. To each their own.
Not exactly “only sailors and whores”, but in my time it was considered that you earned the right to a tattoo by serving either in His Majesty’s Forces or in His Majesty’s Prison. And if you hadn’t served, and you get a tattoo, expect to answer for it to someone who had. Which was all it took to deter me.
From my experience a lot of it is a coping mechanism, trauma bonding perhaps. And yes, to each their own, but…
As with my lefty colleagues and their five minutes of hate for anyone driving a pickup truck however my response is the same.
And the person in question is Army, and a damn fine human being even outside of their service…a far more worthy person than most.
I don’t like the Thing. Women with tattoos are unattractive to me. Oh a small butterfly on your ankle or shoulder is one thing but the stuff I see is repulsive.
At 74, I’ve never had a tattoo or a piercing. Could never understand why I’d want one or the other. I don’t think I could decide what permanent mark I’d purposely put on my body, anyway. I love Corb Lund’s song, “No Regerts”. That would probably be my luck. Other than scars, less hair and teeth, I intend to meet my maker the same way he sent me. More or less. LOL
Women with tattoos down their legs. At a glance it looks like she sh*t herself.
If I were to get a tattoo, it would be of Edinburgh Castle. Just to see if anybody gets it.
