It’s probably not a good idea to stick a thumb in the eye of your biggest trading partner over Cuba, but what else would you expect from the NDP? Failed political parties tend to have a lot in common with failed states.
Last week in the House of Commons, NDP interim leader Don Davies urged the government to “support Cuba in the face of aggressive U.S. imperialism,” arguing this would give heft to Carney’s speech at the World Economic Forum that urged middle powers to stand up to intimidation by superpowers.

Commies gonna commie.
Yes, Carney should immediately get work started on a pipeline to Havana.
He should send the mighty Canadian Navy down to help his comrades in Havana.
Remember the Maine!
As distinct from, “Remember the main!”, which is the slogan of the Calgary water authorities.
Wait! Doesn’t Canada have to build a pipeline … across … their … own … coun- …? … First ?
Nevermind.
I’m certain they could muster all the enviros to support a pipeline if its purpose is to tweak Trump. Or they could stage an airlift.
Cuba has stated their intent to ramp up renewable energy production, so Carney could conceivably offer Canada’s assistance in smuggling Chinese solar panels to the Caribbean super-power.
Oh please, please do! Keep going Canada! You’re doing great! Elbows up!
But doesn’t this make Trump into Green Jesus?
He’s implementing a Green New Deal for Cuba.
It’s what Greta and all her disciples have been praying for.
Cuba can convert to green economy and green EVs and green electricity.
Why aren’t they supporting Trump on this?
Doesn’t anybody give a shit if the planet boils and all the birds die?
Trump is bound to come in for worldwide criticism for disrupting the cigar trade. And Clinton’s sexual predilections will suffer.
Good one.
Exactly!
How can Net Zero Coobah be a bad thing? Yeah, the “imperialist”thing to do is to remain dependent on BIG OIL … right?
Didn’t famed Foreign Policy expert, Gavin Newsom, just say so in Munich?
So very true!!!
Dr. Fruit Fly should be first in line to applaud this! Was it not his holiness, Saint Suzuki that said that Cuba’s return to iron age agriculture was a model that canaduh should emulate?
I wonder from which of his three vaticans that he offered the filthy unwashed his holy revelation
Tote that barge lift that bale.
That sugar cane ain’t gonna hoe itself.
To prove how communist economies suck, Cuba is a net importer of sugar. Cuba’s economic disaster has nothing to do with the US. It is all self-inflicted.
I thought it was Pierre Trudeau who, while gushing over his bum chum Castro, said we Kanadians could learn from Cuban agricultural methods. “Elbows Up!”
Contemplating a mule, eh?
You may be right.
I understand that when Pierre and Margaret visited Cuba some 50 odd years ago, Pierre was the guest of several Cuban young men at their collective farm.
Margaret remained with Fidel who was very happy to demonstrate Cuban plowing techniques.
And we got Fidel’s son Justin from that visit!
Cuba North has gone full retard.
Years ago. This is just the latest manifestation
Davies’ leftist comrade in Mexico, Claudia Sheinbaum, has cut Cuba loose just as Carney has, folding like a cheap suit as soon as President Trump credibly threated crushing tariffs on Mexican imports.
In other words, both Beijing and Bay Street have written Cuba off. Claudia wouldn’t have agreed to cut off Cuba’s oil without Chinese acquiescence.
So I don’t quite know why Davies is wasting his breath. Maybe he missed the memo he got from St. Patrick Street on his other phone. Anyone?
“So I don’t quite know why Davies is wasting his breath.”
Because, talk is cheap..
Do it!!!! I F***ing dare you!!!
Cuba is going to continue to have an uncanny volume of infrastructure problems going forward. And, a lot of them are not going to be as serendipitous as it may appear. Right now the electrical grid is defined by the media as “spotty”. It’s worse than that. Oh, and by the way, do you see any similarities in the infrastructure failures between Iran and Cuba? Remarkable, isn’t it. Uncanny really.
Don’t be shocked if for some unexpected reason their sugar cane crop developes a massive issue of wireworms or stem borers. They already have an irrigation issue due to the electrical grid going down more than Kamala Harris.
A push here. A push there. The next thing you know your residents get a little rambunctious and start looking for alternatives. There’s a huge alternative a little bit to the north.
Sadly Cuban pitchforks are no match against Chinese and Russian armaments … speaking of the 2nd Amendment.
I’m sure Carney and Newsom would be willing to collaborate on funding a shipment of electric buses to Cuba. Mostly peaceful transportation.
Let’s divert Ukraine aid to Cuba! Or better yet, no more foreign aid until our domestic issues are settled!
Yeah, maybe Cuba will be desperate enough to accept all those “assault-STYLE-weapons” the Ukrainians refused.
All 22 of them.
I sense another MOU in the works.
(Totally useless piece of paper binding nothing to no-one.)
It’ll look good to the middle power types.
Perhaps the gov’t of tier 2 Canada could start shipping oil to Cuba to replace what the US Gov’t has stopped allowing from Venezuela? Then everything in Cuba would be great again. The NDP and the #Libranos could get behind that, just build a pipeline from AB to the Atlantic oil terminal and Bob’s your uncle. AB oil companies could sell the oil to tier 2 Canada’s Gov’t and then they could simply give it to Cuba for free, call it more foreign aid.
Life’s Great. Make Cuba Great Again
We’ll have to be quick with that pipeline though, I doubt Cuba has much longer before it declines from 5% functioning to 1%
What better way to stick a finger in America’s eye?
(possible /sarc)
But then what happens when Trump CLOSES American airspace to all Canadian aircraft flying south for relaxing, CHEAP, Coobahn vacations. Ohhhhhhh Mommmaaaa … no Canadians welcome in FL or Vegas … and your plane trip to Coobah just got longer and more expensive.
I heard that Greta is organizing a flotilla to Havana. The NDP will be on board (at least in a figurative sense) as soon as there are assurances that the crews are unionized and that there’s a tranny on each transom.
Hasn’t Greta aged-out of the mid-table teams?
prop up the basically worse socio-economic madel in the western hemisphere for the longest time.
way to go in deep pee. aka politics makes strange bedfellows. ah fidel, what you have wrought. is it true he would give these unending speeches? like something out of Big Brother? on and on hour after hour? we can thank him for one thing for sure, another brutal example of pure communism.
L – That which cannot continue long term, runs its course in the short or medium term. It is a failed political experiment in an isolated, but exotic tropical Isle. Tourism being major part of its economy, kept it from being isolationist as e.i. Iron Curtain countries or the worst example North Korea. Due its location being of geo-strategic import, Cuba became a political curiosity, also.
How long does it take a failed experiment to end and the experimental population released?
That varies, but the time is past due for this dystopia. Ironically, the newest appointed poster boy for the W.E.F. Globalist Dystopia is Mark Carnage. He is being asked to extend the suffering of a failed state. Is this to hide reality? Totalitarian fantasyland cannot manage complex systems. That lesson is as old as the Tower of Babel narrative.
I don’t doubt there is one of canaduh’s emergency debates in the offing.
All of the parties, including the “conservatives” will vote to send aid to Cuba. Just like the “conservatives” voted lock-step to keep the dairy racket in place no matter who else’s life gets destroyed.
They’re doing everything else to scupper CUSMA and with it the canadian economy, why not put the final nail in the coffin!?
Well, certainly can’t have yet another link in the narco-terrorism/money laundering chain get snapped. Besides, where will the Canadians go to get their jollies with child prostitutes?
The NDP doesn’t matter any more…
Once liberated Cuba will be what what Canadians aspire to.
