  1. The only downside of this song is it’s composer. That said, the Midnight Special videos are great. The 70’s was the best decade for pop/rock music. Long before Autotune and computer generated sounds pretending to be actual music. True musicianship.

    1. Manfred Mann were one hell of a cover band. I still appreciate their early Rock and Roll …

Once again, sorry black folk, but the Manfred Mann version sounds so much smoother and sophisticated than the original … which I can appreciate in its own right … and for the fantastic hit song writing … but alas I grew up in the British Invasion … and they’re simply – My People … what with their posh London accents. No, the London accents of today don’t quite sound the same.

      1. Almost all British invasion singers didn’t sing with a posh London accent. It’s a well-noted phenomenon.

“British singing voices often exhibit a distinct shift in accent when performing, typically adopting a more neutral or American-influenced intonation, even though the singers speak with strong regional British accents in everyday conversation. This phenomenon is observed across many prominent British artists.”

“The trend extends beyond individual artists; it is common among non-American English-speaking singers worldwide.”

        1. Sure … don’t trust your own ears … but take Ai’s word for it. Thank you for perfectly encapsulating both your own stupidity and the failings of machine “truth” all in one stalker-comment.

          You are seriously troubled.

          1. And then there were a few with less than posh accents, like Herman’s Hermits’ singer.
“Oim ‘enery the 8th oy yam, ‘enery the 8th oy yam oy yam…”

          2. https://www.musicalmum.com/why-do-british-singers-sound-american/

            https://theconversation.com/why-so-many-singers-sound-american-but-british-grime-artists-are-bucking-the-trend-72328

And many more; you could look them up.

            A quick reason why:

When you are singing a song, there are a number of things that are different from when you’re speaking words. The two key changes are:

You use a different part of your brain to sing vs. when you speak; singing is more about the tones (like an instrument) than the words.

You are limited by the melody, rhythm, key, etc. of the song. You have to make the word-noises fit the rest of the music.

          3. stevie, singing ‘enery or oy yam is a matter of pronunciation, not accent.

I could do it and so can you.

          4. Huh

“There she was just a walkin down the street …”

So in the opening line your ears don’t HEAR the London accent? Wow … that’s some serious cognitive dissonance.

Yeah … an American accent … Puhleeze.

Stevie … there are more dialects and unique accents per square mile on the British Isles than there ever have been in America.

          5. Kenji,
I had an English boss once who could tell what county a Brit was from by the nuances in dialect.

          6. Kenji, what part of the following don’t you understand:

“typically adopting a more neutral or American-influenced intonation”

I’ve never mentioned “American accent” once, but you like to twist what I say. It’s your intellectual snowflake style.

  2. tons and tons of ‘heartwarming’ vids on YT, incl those where rescue dogs pick their new owner.
far too many tagged as AI generated for my liking. l remain skeptical on much of it for that reason.
AI will destroy civilization we wont know whut in blazes actually happened aaaand cant be everywhere now can we? MSM ALREADY proved unreliable so theyre out. the top world experts will some day have to admit in court because the evidence originates in ditital format they cant tell the difference.
multiple passes with expunge any traces of fakery to the point its a perfect version of the truth.
except its fake. and we cant tell your honour.

    1. “The school says I get to goof off today. I’m damn well going to goof off.”

Except for a couple of badly programmed idiots, this is how most kids view this. Teachers, politicians and media just don’t get it.

    1. Anyone who has anything to do w/ the trucking industry will not be surprised by this. I see it on a near daily basis. And, as I’ve noted elsewhere, the more idiot proof they make trucks (automatic transmissions, for one), the more idiots get their CDL.

    1. As in so many of the arts, the “critics” are liking and awarding what they think they are Supposed to Like.
If it had not been for the conservative blowback against Bad Bunny, it never would have been mentioned at the Grammys.

    1. If the Republican Party doesn’t hang this boondoggle of boondoggles around Governor Brillcream’s neck 24/7 in a potential presidential campaign, then they should all get the Mussolini treatment by its MAGA base.

    2. Apologies, I have to vet my posts more carefully. “Tolland” should be “dollar”. My bad.

  3. I’ve always hated this song. Both the original by commie puke Springsteen, and MM’s remake. The one part where someone bangs on the piano like a 3-year old? Perhaps the worst few seconds of any song ever recorded. I’d rather hear Yoko Ono belt out a full opera.

    1. The irritating thing about Springsteen is his fske wotking-class hero schick. A real eye-roller and head shake.

      1. Agreed. I’ve lived in New Jersey my whole life, and so you can just imagine what I’ve had to endure the last half century with his Tiger Beat level adoring fans all across this crappy state. Just this past summer, I was on vacation with a bunch of friends at Lake George, New York, and one of my friends put on the song, and I let the group know how I felt about the song. It was like I spoke ill of George Washington or something.

    1. Don Lemmon never read a Bible. One cannot be a practising homosexual and also simultaneously a Christian.

  4. “Wrapped up like a douche, another roner in the night?” WTF? It took years before I figured out CCR wasn’t saying “there’s a bathroom on the right.”

    1. I believe the official lyric is, “ripped up like a deuce, another runner in the night”. Why, or indeed precisely how, one rips up a deuce, I can only speculate. I believe it’s a poker term, referring to the discarding of low-value cards from a hand. But of course, this is New Jersey. It could be a fart reference.

      1. Yes, a hot rod reference is also possible. I think we can all agree that “runners in the night” is a reference to Citizen Kane’s “Rosebud” sled, which has conspicuous runners and haunts the nightmares of the damned.

  5. The Mandelson-Epstein Scandal
If the Labour MPs dump Starmer, who will become PM? Who at the top of the Labour Party hasn’t been tainted by a Mandelson connection? Rumor is that all are tainted except Shabana Mahmood, UK Home Secretary and a muslim.

  6. The 70s had some cool hits (arguably the best decade for rock). Blinded by the Light, Black Betty, Radar Love, Stuck in the middle with you. The things I like best are the singers actually sang into a microphone and the band played the whole song in one take.

  7. Pivotal errors cannot be reversed.

    Interview with Sarah Paine.

I think Mark Carney made a pivotal mistake when he negotiated a trade deal with China in front of the CUSMA renegotiation. But hey, I’m not an international banker, WEF engineer, Prime Minister.

  8. I’m reminded of the hurricane that made landfall in New Jersey and caused $35 billion in improvements.

  9. Three Tankers Seized off Mumbai
Indian Coast Guard on X: “On 06 Feb 26, @IndiaCoastGuard busted an International oil-smuggling racket in a meticulously coordinated sea–air operation. The syndicate exploited mid-sea transfers in international waters to move cheap oil from conflict ridden regions to motor tankers, evading duties owed to https://t.co/erJ31U4xyH” / X

  10. Hahahahaha ha ha ha … top level trolling

    Please remember though …
    “Epstein “Files”!
    “Epstein “Files”!
    “Epstein “Files”!
    “Epstein “Files”!

“Orchids of Asia” … love you long time GI
“Hotties of Russia” … Putin and The Jews and Epstein will own you.

One of these is sex “trafficking” … the other is plain old fashioned “prostitution”. Now ask yourself why do two same things have different names?

  11. From the PPC:

For years, they called us “anti-vaxxers.” They called us conspiracy theorists. They ridiculed us and silenced us for daring to ask questions.

And now? Now the truth is starting to come out.

Not from a blogger. Not from a so-called “fringe” group. But from the Public Health Agency of Canada. Yes, from the government itself.

After repeatedly claiming the COVID-19 vaccine was “safe and effective,” after years of denial, the government is slowly being forced to admit the truth.

Validated figures now confirm a causal link between the vaccine and serious harm. According to official figures:

    20 Canadians have died;
    Over 180 have suffered serious, permanent injuries;
There were more than 1,300 cases of heart inflammation, mostly in boys.
And how did the media and political elite react? They remain silent!

They imposed a dangerous vaccine for a virus that, for the vast majority, was no worse than the flu.

They destroyed livelihoods with a passport system that cost people their jobs and shuttered businesses.

They promised unity but delivered tyranny. They promised safety but delivered suffering.

And to the victims? A paltry $18 million in compensation, while they spent billions forcing this disaster upon us.

This isn’t just a medical failure. This is the greatest betrayal of public trust in Canadian history.

The fake Conservatives did nothing. Worse, they promoted it.

The PPC was the ONLY party that stood against the mandates, against the passports, against this insane, unscientific coercion.

    We were right!
