Nothing new. That’s why they’ve always given word salads when under scrutiny.
Be prepared to answer any likely and relevant questions.
Know what you’re talking about when you do.
If there’s a question to which you really don’t know the answer, apologize (sincerely if you can) and agree to follow up without undue delay. Then do it.
Don’t insult the questioner’s intelligence.
Only dodge questions that are obviously irrelevant to the topic and not meriting a serious response. (This covers most questions from the NDP and Elizabeth May.)
What did I miss?
If that covers everything, where’s my cut of the money?
It’s called preservation of the species. Even criminal organizations and the coldest of cold monsters (both describe the state), once created, seek to survive above all else. In this case, its elected politicians asking questions of unelected “politicians”.
Ah to be a consultant to the Federal Government. Can you say gravy train?
Between the infill ginormous houses and the exo-burb mansions of Ottawa, the federal Consultants and Bureaucrats have done really well for themselves, to put it mildly.
If people in Oilberta and Samsquantchewan had any idea, they’d be here with torches.
“Whatever you do, don’t tell the truth.”

FTFY
I’ve noted it before: The reason Federal consulting fees have skyrocketed is because most of the politicians elected are idiots.
The punishment for delivering word salad should be at least a good dressing down!
