  1. I wouldn’t say Russia has lost yet. At the current rate they might beat Ukraine in 100 years, Europe in 1,000 years.

    1. “I wouldn’t say Russia has lost yet. At the current rate they might beat Ukraine in 100 years, ”

Sure, if those mean Russians just stopped killing every Ukrainian sent to the front. Otherwise, their advance will inevitably speed up as Ukraine runs out of cannon fodder. In another couple of years the Russian army will be virtually unopposed in Ukraine, and roll over what is left of the Ukrainian army with ease. That’s what the phrase “war of attrition” means: the country with *three times* the population of the other always wins in the end.

Russia took 32 settlements and 700 square kilometres in December. That pace can only increase.

  2. You Don’t Get to Dictate the Terms of Wars You’ve Lost

Why not? The Indians have been doing it for decades & it’s getting worse recently.

  3. The war is pretty much a stale mate. No one has yet lost.

Having said that, Russia has lost enormous amounts of wealth and prestigious. Its conventional military has proven to be second class. The days of being a super power are long gone.

    1. “The war is pretty much a stale mate.”

No it’s not. Russia takes more territory every day.

“Having said that, Russia has lost enormous amounts of wealth and prestigious. Its conventional military has proven to be second class. ”

Yet they are still guaranteed to win this war in the end….they can sustain losses that Ukraine cannot.

      1. “Russia has lost enormous wealth and “prestigious”…what?
        Grammar matters.
        You likely meant “prestige”.
Otherwise, tell us what comes after the adjectival usage.
That said…I sure have had my fill of this Russia/Ukraine “theatre”….
Focus on what matters, such as Somalia getting to lead the UN security council in January. Maybe Somalian pirates will secure the Indian Ocean.
And how about making america great again, like they’re doing in Minnesota and New York, and California?
Oh, and Carney will save Canada.
Geopolitics suck. UN, EU, and all the Globo acronyms…SPIT.
Have a nice day, and I don’t care if you don’t like my comment after a few drinks.
        Cough!

      2. Russia has been capturing about 450 sq km per month over the last year, at enormous cost of men and equipment. At that rate, they’ll take all of Ukraine in 120 years.

And there are countless things that could win the war for Ukraine, such as Putin’s death or incapacitation, an invasion of a NATO country by Russia, economic collapse, or armed conflict with China over territory. There are no guarantees for either side.

For some reason, westerners like to exaggerate Russian power. But the numbers don’t lie. Their population, demographics, GDP, and overreliance on petroleum all speak to a crippled state.

          1. Of course it won’t happen that way, but the tipping point could be 10 years off. In the meantime, a thousand things could happen which could make it moot.

The point is that the comment “Russia takes more territory every day” doesn’t mean much when the amount of land is tiny.

          2. “Doesn’t work that way….once the tipping point is crossed, things collapse very quickly.”

Exactly. Trump is done with pumping weaponry into Ukraine and the EU can’t afford it (financially or politically)….once that stops, the collapse starts. That will be NEXT YEAR, for those keeping track, and no amount of fantasizing or wishful thinking will change this outcome.

          3. Ukraine has ALL of the EU, the UK, and the US paying for their LOSING war … and KM dares speak of Russia’s inability to quickly take out Ukraine? I’d say Russia is more than holding its own against the ENTIRE West’s economic might.

And driving Russia into partnership with the Communist Chinese may not be the wisest idea ever hatched by the Queer-centric West. Trump understands this, and is trying to settle the conflict by bringing Russia back into the fold of the West.

If NATO serves any purpose whatsoever post-Soviet Union … they’d be wise to defend Europe against the invading hordes of Islamic fanatics who are destroying ALL of Europe from within.

          4. I’m not making some moral judgment on Ukraine or Russia. I’m not saying who “deserves” to win.

I’m saying there are a thousand things that can go wrong for Russia, and claiming certainty in such a complex situation is not smart.

        1. “Russia has been capturing about 450 sq km per month over the last year, at enormous cost of men and equipment. At that rate, they’ll take all of Ukraine in 120 years.”

          [sigh..]

Once again, for the slower-witted among us:

“That rate” can only INCREASE as Ukraine runs out of manpower while Russia does not.

(wait…did I not say that already?Should I use smaller words?)

“such as Putin’s death or incapacitation”

This would result in an even more hard-liner taking power. You’ll miss Putin if that happens.

,” an invasion of a NATO country by Russia, ”

          Pure fantasy.

          “economic collapse, ”

          Even more fantasy.

“or armed conflict with China over territory. ”

          Now you’re just getting desperate.

          1. I don’t start personal attacks, but when someone insults me, I sometimes insult back. It’s a weakness of mine.

Your analysis is what a midwit thinks is intelligent. A truly intelligent person doesn’t make definitive predictions when it’s not possible. They don’t extrapolate highly volatile situations, as there are too many variables that could derail it. They acknowledge uncertainty. They’re not afraid to say “I don’t know.”

The economic situation in Russia is deteriorating rapidly, accelerated by the facts that Ukraine is targeting petroleum infrastructure, and that much consumer production has been repurposed for military production. Collapse is a very real possibility.

          2. I don’t start personal attacks either, but when anyone insults anyone, I leap in and start slinging shit in all directions. The exercise seems to benefit my circulation. Jackass. Gee, I feel heartier already.

          3. Fred
I was starting to miss Jessica’s stupidity, Butt Killer Colon Allen S is doing an admirable job taking up the slack.
If Russia finished this war too quickly, much of the jookrainew war capacity would remain in tact, by doing it the slow way, they are destroying that very capacity. Other wise they would have to capture and kill the Ukes, as the german nazis did. Butt allen the killer is too stupid to understand that simple fact, bc he is also to stupid to differentiate propaganda from factual news. Just as scarp is.

      3. Exactly. But, the Russophobes won’t let facts get in the way of their diatribes. Instead, we get the propaganda based BS from NATO and the Neocons.
The War of Attrition is a well known, historic Russian strategy. No surprise that’s their strategy here, especially with a small country like Ukraine. They’ve held and advanced incrementally.
No amount of facts will deter the terminally stupid, getting their daily narrative from Big Media.
Let’s face it, if Russia had advanced on Ukraine, like Israel FAFOd Gaza, you would hear Killer Mommy bitching about Russia, this time because they’re advancing too fast, killin wymyn and chillins, and it’s just not fair.
Killer Mommy reminds me very much of AllanS, the Mensa Trucker, a pretend conservative, but never having true critical thinking skills. He’s to be ignored, his behaviours are argumentative and deflective, just what one would expect from internet troll behaviour

        1. Killer Mommy reminds me very much of AllanS, the Mensa Trucker, a pretend conservative, but never having true critical thinking skills.

Readers will have to excuse ByTheSea. He appears to believe that every thought that occurs to him is the indisputable truth, so he lashes out with personal attacks on anyone he disagrees with.

          1. “Readers will have to excuse ByTheSea. He appears to believe that every thought that occurs to him is the indisputable truth, so he lashes out with personal attacks on anyone he disagrees with.”

Just stop trolling and it won’t be an issue.

You remind me of an ADHD kid jumping up and down, screaming “Lookatmelookatmelookatme LOOK AT MEEE!!”

          2. My, my, aren’t we sensitive! How does it feel to always be on the wrong side of every issue?

          3. I suggest that you not make them if you don’t like people replying to them. I’ve noticed that when I don’t say anything stupid, nobody calls me stupid. Except people who are paying attention, of course, but I leave them no choice.

    1. “I sense that none of you bothered to listen to what Glenn Diesen had to say.”

I did. His take was pretty good.

  4. I don’t think you can call anyone a winner if no one has lost yet. Back in 2022, I don’t think anyone would have predicted this war would still be waged in 2026. A thousand things can happen to change the outcome.

Either way, it’s a pyrrhic victory for either party.

    1. Not really.
The Donbas people have been saved from the Nazi Azov genocide of 14,000 civilians.
      Russia has gained territory.
In every military actions, there’s casualties. But, there’s been massive Uke defections.
More casualties from smaller UKRIANE is disastrous.
One must learn from history, Russia is defiant, and unrelenting.
And trust them at their word, they are not invading Europe. That’s a NATO fantasy for Mo Money. Europe has nothing to offer.
      No resources.
      No assets,
      Too many foreign invaders.
They don’t want to look after a bankrupt continent, nor a bankrupt people.

    2. Oh, we’re well past the point where anybody can “win” this thing. The question now is how badly does everybody lose. Russia can survive, but how can she ever recover? And can Ukraine survive at all?

      1. Did it feature any of his previous erudite musings on women’s evil succubus juice and how that is destroying western civilization?
I am genuinely curious, as I really can’t see him managing to not say something about that.

        1. I always thought there should be a mobile whorehouse run out of a former school bus, to be called “Succubus”.

  5. I find it interesting that the Biden administration toadie came out and said what she said…now…interesting, especially the timing.

As for the war? Well, yours truly thinks that this war has been largely fugazi. Considering the half-arsed, grabtastic way it was ran, it leads one to some questions to be honest. The blood has been real, yes. But the war itself? Perhaps not so much. (which means the Russian government gets its own place in the lake of fire reserved, just like everyone else — they can sit with the Ukrainian and EU governments, and our Democrats; that much blood doesn’t really get you to write it off as incompetence, now does it?).

Yeah, I really don’t rah-rah either of these two — feel sorry for the people, but not the governments. Guess we’ll see what happens.
