Following massive military sales from Washington to Taiwan and rapidly scaled defensive preparations from Japan, Beijing on Monday launched a sweeping show-of-force including live-fire activity around Taiwan.
The encirclement-style operation brought 89 Chinese military aircraft and 28 PLA Navy and coast guard vessels into the waters and skies around the island, one of the heaviest single-day tallies reported in more than a year.
Taiwan’s Presidential Office condemned the operation as a “unilateral provocation” that destabilizes regional peace, while stressing that Taiwan’s security agencies had “complete situational awareness” and had made preparations. Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense said it activated an emergency response posture and conducted immediate readiness drills.
Beijing, for its part, framed the action as a warning—an operation the PLA’s Eastern Theater Command dubbed “Justice Mission 2025,” involving the army, navy, air force, and rocket force, with designated zones for live-fire activity and sea-and-airspace restrictions.

Interesting, yes, but I don’t think the ChiComs (Xi in particular) have the stones to invade Taiwan. I’m no military strategist, but how in this day and age could they do this without most if not all of their landing craft being sunk before they get even close? This isn’t 1944 and so an assembled large invasion force would be spotted well ahead of time by satellites and Taiwan and its allies (mainly U.S. of course) would be prepared accordingly. I’m sure this has been war-gamed a thousand times so one would think Taiwan is well prepared. Xi is probably just putting on a show of force for domestic consumption so he can be seen as a “tough guy”. If he has any brains he really shouldn’t be risking a humiliating defeat to a country 1/264th its size.
We will look forward to annihilating the NPC commie zipperhead minions of the PLA. Beijing to follow…
It’s all about saving face…typical Asian stuff. Just give it up and accept reality, FFS.
I too would love to see the Chinese (PLAN) try to take Taiwan.
I’m thinking Japan is paying attention to the chicoms attempts to save face.
Definitely looks like nothing.
Did Taiwan buy all the Mark 60 CAPTORs when they were decommissioned?
Also, the distance from the nearest port to the coast of Taiwan is about the same as the channel crossing.
Was reading about Japan’s possible role in this.
They’ve got missile batteries on the Ryukyu Islands that the Chinese would want to deal with.
Of course the Americans have a role and Marine and Air bases there as well.
The Chicoms sorely want to break free of the First Island chain that hems them in, from Japan through Taiwan to the Philippines and Malaysia.
The Chicoms threaten everybody else because they have their own superior and Godless version of Manifest Destiny. They don’t want to cooperate, they want to dominate.
” They don’t want to cooperate, they want to dominate.”
Absolutely they do…and they have made that perfectly clear for years. Canada should sharply reduce the amount of trade we do with China, given their open hostility to us and their ongoing overt *theft* of our intellectual property and technology. These people are not our friends….not at all.
Oh, and I forgot about their blatant election interference.
