SDA regular, David Murrell, recently posted this in Reader Tips:
JD Vance rebuts Vanity Fair’s anti-Trump hit piece…
…by saying many “conspiracy theories turned out to be true”.
The entire article is well worth a read, in which Vance talks about the “conspiracy theories” of the dangers of masking three year-olds, the media covering up that Joe Biden clearly unable to do his job, Biden trying to throw his political opponents in jail rather than win an argument against them, etc. He sums it up with this: “So, at least on some of these conspiracy theories, it turns out that a conspiracy theory is just something that was true six months before the media admitted it.”
This got me thinking about a recent messaging conversation I had with a longtime friend in Vancouver:
Of course, he never responded to my question, which I posed twice in that thread. Why? Because he is afraid to examine any truth bombs that might burst the protective bubble wrap of ignorance that CBC/CTV/Global have carefully constructed all around his mind … and that of millions of other Canadians. My friend is not a bad person, but he is sooooo incredibly ignorant on most issues. Ironically, his wife is super based. The Covid Plandemic woke her up big time!

Yes, it has been my long time experience that Canadians are utterly clueless about what is happening, truthfully. There are no mainstream media outlets in Canada that are not run by the left. They lie by omission everyday. America has Fox News, which the commies hate, but it informs Americans of the truth. They also have Breitbart and others online.
Growing up in Vancouver, BC, I was a huge listener to the radio stations, CJOR and later, CKNW. There were REAL discussions back in the 1970’s and early 1980’s, but then NPCs like Bill Good and his ilk took over. Anything controversial that didn’t fit the official narrative was pretty much banned.
Here in America, where I now live, Sirius XM has Patriot, which has some great hosts from 6am ET to 3pm ET. After that, I refuse to listen to the GOP shills, Hannity and Levin, though I was a fan when I was younger & naive.
You must remember Jack Webster. He took shit from no one. Pierre Trudeau spent years without coming to Vancouver when he was PM because he was afraid to be interviewed by Jack. The sad thing is that there is a journalism award given in his name.
Yup, very much so! But I was much more of a Pat Burns fan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aJ5QCAwUlPc
My father-in-law is cut from the same cloth. He still thinks that the COVID shots were a good idea, and when I tried to bring up the numbers from Australia and New Zealand showing that after 2 months of injection a recipient was 5 times as likely to be hospitalized as a never-vaxed… “You have your facts, and I have mine.” I asked for some of his facts but he refused to provide any. My facts are every bit as valid as his opinions.
CBC / CNN watcher, so he doesn’t learn. Sadly, he does vote.
Had many co-workers like that. Smart people, but fed disinformation, misinformation and straight lies from the media. When you get your information from the CBC and Colbert, having a good brain doesn’t help. The part you can’t excuse is holding on to crazy ideas even when the facts prove them wrong. Then it’s time for whataboutism. “Yeah sure, Biden was a vegetable, but what about the last 2 years of Reagan?”
“…but what about the last 2 years of Reagan?”
Uh huh, this is the “ya but!!!” thing they love. Which is why I don’t talk to them. But if I had to make a rejoinder to that stupidity, it might be:
“Say what you want about Reagan, he didn’t -spectacularly- lose a war and retreat in disarray from toothless hillbillies. He also didn’t make boom-boom in his pants on television in front of the White House.”
“Of course, he never responded to my question…”
They never do. They just say “ya but!!!!” and bring up some unrelated thing, because they know you’re right and they hate you for it. It disturbs their calm, know what I mean?
I don’t talk to people anymore, pretty much. They already don’t like me, I see no reason to bang my forehead on their invincible, militant ignorance. Observations about the weather is as deep as I go.
See all the minions out there yelling “gun control!” this week? I don’t engage. There’s no point.
They’re not friends anymore, Robert. They’ll give you up to the Gestapo in a heartbeat. Remember all those people during Covid, telling you to get the clot-shot? Block captains taking note of who had how many visitors during Christmas? Yeah. They’re still out there, they haven’t changed.
Did you get any apologies from people admitting they were wrong about it all? I mean, they WERE wrong, and now they KNOW they were wrong, and they know they bullied you mercilessly. I haven’t heard a single apology myself.
Sadly, we must accept that many people we used to know, used to think of as friends, are unserious, untrustworthy and disloyal. I’ve always known this, because they’ve been disloyal with me my whole freaking life. I used to hope they’d get better, but after Covid I know they won’t.
Try not to let it get you down. Plenty of fish in the sea, Robert.
Paraphrasing Twain – It’s much easier to fool a person than to convince him that he has been fooled.
Makes me wonder what goes through one’s head…especially Ms.Wiles, who has a reputation for being a rock ribbed Republican hard ass to think sitting down multiple times with a main stream rag like Vanity Fair would be all candy canes and unicorns.
Good Grief!!!
Back to conspiracy theories or as I call them “truth delays”,
In our lifetime there’s been JFK, USS Liberty, Gulf of Tonkin, Operation Northwoods, MK Ultra, Tuskegee Syphilis Study, Central America/ CIA dirty tricks, 9-11, UAPs, Covid, Covid vaccines, RedCross blood/HIV scandal and a host of others too numerous to mention. it’s gotten so bad of late, our current ruling party has simply copped a “Yeah we’re corrupt…so sue us” attitude. Governments lie, it’s their stock in trade. Anyone who thinks they don’t and wouldn’t… deserve everything they have coming to them.
Questioning everything has served me well, admittedly it’s been easy…just do the opposite of what the media tells you.
And nothing says Canadians make really good sheep quite like the arrows on grocery store floors and chalk circles on children’s playgrounds.
I recently had a visit from a cousin who absolutely despises Trump. When I asked why she felt so strongly, she replied with” Don’t you watch CNN? ”
I confess that I haven’t watched CNN since I was overseas in the late 90s and all I could receive were CNN international, Sky News and movies from Joberg.
No use arguing with someone as flexible in thought as a Titanium Ingot.
