Just Say No

Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms- Digital ID Petition

Digital ID programs equip governments to access your personal information.
The government should not know about your interests, beliefs, behaviours, transactions, performance, personality, or preferences.
The government should not know more about you than your friends or family.
We, the undersigned, call upon provincial and federal governments to ban digital ID programs that violate the privacy of Canadians.

  1. I am old enough to recall that the government didn’t need or want to know what happened in bedrooms.
I guess they have moved on, eh, Orwell?
They now know that I posted a lovely video of Oh come all ye faithful on FB, featuring the BYU combined choir. Look it up and hear a moving rendition of the good, true, and beautiful tradition we must remember and preserve,

    1. The Liberals are fully capable of changing the privacy act. Don’t think for a second that they are not looking at it. It’ll be for the “safety of the children” for sure.

  2. Terrifying. Imagine a would be dictator like Justin Trudeau had all your stuff. And you posted something that teased him about being a wanker, vacuous virtual signaling twat (even if you meant ‘twat’ in a genderless, non-offensive way) and a whiny weenie . . .

  3. Most western governments already have more information on you than you have, if they want. Digital ID makes it mandatory, you carry a cell phone and have an internet persona. Just don’t.

I am always reassured by government spokesmen that we have nothing to worry about because the government will keep the info private. /irony

  4. Canada has privacy laws that prevent this sort of thing. The Liberals would have to Change the Privacy Act and have the supreme court reinterpret earlier rulings of section 8 of the Charter. I think enough public disapproval could be whipped up to prevent this sort of thing.

    1. The budget implementation bill just gave Librano Ministers the power to ignore everything but the criminal code. Privacy laws?? Yeah, that’ll work.

  5. Remember when Social Insurance Numbers first came out in 1964? The big flap then was what those numbers would be used for and everybody was told “strictly for CPP and EI programs”. And now they want to try this? Good God.

  6. If Carney gets his majority, which I believe he will, Digital ID and Digital currency will be a done deal – and there ain’t nothing we can do about it. The danger of a majority government in Canada? An elected dictatorship for 4 years running – five if the government desires and Carney will desire it in order to push through his agenda.
