“We are all Somalis now”

In Minnesota, the bear hug of American liberal virtue, with its self-congratulatory sense of generosity and its lack of any serious demands on the people it thinks it’s helping, embraced a community with the mentality, internal coherence, and organization needed to fully exploit its hosts. The Somali enclave rapidly gained in political power, in part because of the ability of various rival clan networks to turn out large numbers of voters in low-margin DFL primaries. The Somalis became an organizing and voting force in the local DFL and began winning elections: to the Minneapolis school board in 2010, to the city council in 2013, and to the state House of Representatives in 2016 — it would take Ilhan Omar just two more years to make it to Congress. Meanwhile, by the late 2010s, the furtiveness and modest scale of existing frauds joined with the in-group discipline of Somalis to create a dense screen of protection for thieves.

  1. This is a MASSIVE scandal that the legacy media is barely touching. If Republicans were behind such a scandal, it would be front page news for a year.

    1. The Somali’s are being blamed/indicted for this, but I find it hard to believe that a “community” of poorly educated, fundamentalist savages from Africa had the sophistication to run this monumental scam. They had to have insider (government worker) help. Their lawyers should all be investigated too … for billing covered by the illegal theft of taxpayer monies.

This story is far deeper than ‘the Somali’s’ … these blacks are just being used as a racial tool to pry funds from our capitalist largesse. The Somali’s are just TOOLS

  2. I went to a Sask Party event a while back.
Well over half of the 55 or so people there were recent immigrants.

    1. True, that. But the apparent imbalance speaks as much to chronic ambivalence and laziness on the part of traditional Canadians as it does to power-grasping on the part of newcomers.

  3. You mean magic dirt didn’t turn 3rd world Slow-mali garbage into law abiding citizens?????

  4. If you’ve ever wondered why a Somalian hailing from a country with an average temperature of 81F would drag their boney asses to a region of the U.S. where ice fishing begins Dec.1, wonder no more.
    “Minnesota nice”…berry berry nice.

  5. Question: are any MN politicians not compromised by Somali crime lords?

Keith Ellison, Minnesota’s Attorney General, can clearly be heard pledging his support to individuals who would soon become his family’s campaign donors and later Feeding Our Future criminal defendants.

  6. An incredibly depressing report which reinforces the obvious;
the vast majority of political/cultural leadership and the millions who “work” for them
have been conditioned to have no ambition but to live for today,
to ally yourself with the lowest common denominator and
steal as much as possible as soon as possible from whoever you can.

… “leading politicians seem to act as if an atmosphere of loose political morals works to their advantage”

Surely the author cannot be surprised; the benefits of “public service”
have always attracted no account two faced scoundrels,
unlike 99% of the private sector where you’re held accountable immediately.
The difference in the last 60 years is that those in “government”
came to insist we all become no account two faced scoundrels.

… “which means that people at lower levels of the system are stuck operating within an environment that is almost nakedly corrupt.”

No. They’re not “stuck”. They’re fully complicit. Groomed and hired accordingly.
Totally dependent on corruption for their lifestyles and gold-plated pensions.

“What’s replaced any firm notion of civic life is the unspoken hope that the mountains of free money… might make everyone ignore how bleakly incoherent things have gotten… Collective looting of the public coffers is now the state’s solution to… how we all should live together… Surely, Minnesotans — no matter how liberal — care what happens to their tax dollars.”

Nope. The citizen/voter living in fear from Marxists accusations
is an intentional and generational product of the Left.

  7. Somalians are the Poster-scumrats of everything that’s wrong with World Immigration/Refugeetion.
Round them up, fly them back.
They give nothing to the planet.
I’ve never met anyone who liked or trusted them – and that’s just the black community.

  8. The state is fundamentally a criminal enterprise. Politicians that love the state naturally align with supporters that are fine with corruption and the parties best suited to crime. The complex is even deeper when NGOs gladly help with money laundering, kickbacks, and lobbying disguised as humanitarian or other benign forms of aid. Importing retrograde societies wholesale makes it all seem natural and as a bonus opposition can be dismissed as racist.

  9. Near the bottom of the article:

“In the growing, indeterminate area that bridges the radically different cultures of Minnesotan niceties and clan-based Somali politics, darker possibilities breed. Ilhan Omar won her 2020 primary by a mere 2,500 votes, at a time when the Somali community was swimming in new cash, thanks to Feeding Our Future. Ilhan Omar’s close relationship with the Safari restaurant (whose co-owner Salim Said is one of the major nodes of the Feeding Our Future fraud) was a topic of discussion on the recording of Ellison’s December 2021 meeting with the accused scammers. Guhaad Hashi Said, long known as one of Omar’s “enforcers” in the Somali community and a former aide to the congresswoman, is one of the Feeding Our Future defendants. Omar filmed a video of herself at Safari handing out free meals — paid for by unknown parties, quite possibly including the US Department of Agriculture — during the pandemic. In her May of 2025 financial disclosure, Omar reported her own net worth to be between $6 million and $30 million.”
