National Post: The Canadian publisher of the Franklin the Turtle children’s book series condemned U.S. Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth’s use of the normally friendly anthropomorphic animal’s image in a “violent” meme posted to social media.
It’s going about as well as you’d expect.

Isn’t Naval bazooka-ist … inclusive? And isn’t it kind and empathetic for Franklin to save thousands of kids from a horrific drug poison death?
Does he also target the CIA?
Or is he just cleaning out the competition?
Saw this on Fox and Friends early this morning. My somewhat conservative wife complained it was distasteful, she likes Pete but this was too much. I told her this is the internet, and the company will regret complaining because the response with memes will be 1000x worse for them. Within an hour I started to see them.
Explain that, for the last 20 years, the institutional left has kept conservatives dancing from one linguistic hot button to another, constantly editing the list of banned and offensive words – not because anyone was offended, but as a mechanism of political control.
And now, it’s over. They are reaping the consequences of people who have finally figured out what they were up to and are turning their silly word weaponry back at them.
Conservatives are better at it because we actually have a sense of humour. Our memes are 1000x better than their scolding. She gave me hell (on my birthday) for laughing at the cartoon. I just tried to give her some perspective.
