When the marginal consumer can no longer afford Wendy’s, you just know things are going downhill.
There are currently about 6,000 Wendy’s locations in the U.S. Locations that are “consistently underperforming” will close in late 2025 or at some point in 2026. The number of stores affected could be up to around 350. Nation’s Restaurant News noted that Cook indicated they were “acting with urgency” to reverse the negative trend.
As CNN detailed, Wendy’s sales in the last quarter were down nearly 5 percent.

Not to worry, Wendy’s! Zohran Mamdani has a solution!

Raise the minimum wage!
BTW … we are making a big deal about commercial truckers being able to speak and read basic English … but what about fast food workers? Can they read the health department regulations and signs in the restaurant? Such as “wash your hands after wiping your bottom”? I personally believe you’re playing Mexican-roulette every time you buy fast food -anything.
He should raise it to $50/hr. This would provide even more money to consumers.
A basic Wendy’s combo is about $16 after taxes. A foot-long hot dog at Easterbrooks is $8. They’ve priced themselves out of the market.

Yes. But worse, it doesn’t even taste like meat. You pay $16, you eat it, and you’re still hungry.
McDonald’s, same thing. The burger does not taste like meat.
You have to go to 5-Guys or someplace like that, and pay $10 for just the tiny little burger. About the size of a slider, really. It tastes like actual meat, which is a plus, but if you want a proper sized burger you pay $25.
Which is why I eat at home. Burger tastes like MEAT because I do the buying and the barbecuing too.
The price of all fast food has become much too expensive.
I very rarely do fast food except for sandwich shops – always independent, not chains.
I’d bet too many other places are better for the prices.
McDicks is always busy.
I’ve stopped going to places that don’t hire Canadians. Is Wendy’s bad that way too?

You’re going to starve, my dewd. ~:D
