  1. Lavrentiy Beria – head of Stalin’s secret police

“Show me the man, and I will show you the crime”.

And now you have AI lying in the same manner.

  2. Legal responsibility for words and actions will be the only way to stop this. The AIs are trained that our political opponents (many of whom see nothing wrong with killing those who disagree with their views) are more trustworthy and believable than we are. It doesn’t matter that the system learned from many, it matters that the system fabricated (or publicly repeated) defamatory lies in the public space even after being told that they are lies.

AIs are monetized. Bobby Starbuck has a big chunk of sold AI product money coming his way, soon.

  3. Ain’t this wonderful?
A computer program that works just as intended.
    G.I.G.O Baby.
Every work of man reflects the nature of the man building it.
Arrogant Incompetence is such an art.

  4. It’s good that the lawsuit will be in the USA and an actual valuation as to Starbuck’s loss can be made, while in Canada he may win enough to start a fruit stand at the Farmer’s Market.

Also, it’s good to see that Grok wasn’t mentioned in this. For whatever faults Grok may have, I think “piling on” to disinformation is a bad thing. Couldn’t happen to a better bunch than Google. Remember “Don’t be evil” ?
It seems in the distant past now.

      1. A while ago they added a comma making it: “Don’t, Be Evil!”

And then later they dropped the Don’t.

  5. ”… it’s going to make the landscape for those who wish to abuse their power that much more amenable …”

What is hard for me to fathom is just how many hours of how many employees, supervisors, and high tech effort it took to fabricate all these LIES about Starbuck? This had to be a serious, concerted effort by many, many, people within Google. This wasn’t ’one rogue employee’ … and certainly not after this was all brought to Google’s attention.

So … Starbuck is DEI’s most sophisticated enemy … and hence … the ‘State’ Intelligence operatives MUST DESTROY THE ENEMY of the STATE. Because … if anyone had the chance to destroy Hitler as a baby … wouldn’t it be the moral obligation to do so? You KNOW that philosophical rationalization is built into the Google AI model. It’s sick and twisted.

I’m reminded of the sci-fi film Minority Report wherein ‘State’ computers could predict crime BEFORE it happened. Talk about LIFE imitating (and mutating) art … Google is actually CREATING crimes before they NEVER happened.

Yes, friends … AI looks like a shockingly dystopian future. The only defense may be to: turn to the far-away places, tune it all OUT, and drop OUT of the LIEscape.

  6. He’s suing in Delaware.

What are his chances of winning? They should be good, but in a Dem state are they?

    1. Google’s parent company is Alphabet, and while it’s headquartered in Mountain View, Calif… its incorporation is in Delaware.

Elon Musk lost in Delaware court for his new $56 Billion payment contract, currently being appealed to Delaware Supreme Court (actually this month) Delaware has traditionally sided with a shareholder’s board voting for whatever is legal, and is strict in discovery compliance regarding spoiling or hiding evidence.

  7. L – Maybe, the “Don’t Be Evil” that was used on Google’s website was a sick joke; one that only other psychopaths could understand ? Probably not, but it morphed into a matrix of deception; which it could only do by way of the values of its employees being encoded into the programming.

Will an additional the loss of trust lead to new memes: “Google is evil !” “Congress needs to update the Anti-Trust laws!” If it catches on? It will happen!

    1. It was “don’t be evil” in the view of one of their group leaders. As that individual is human, it means “do what I say, or else.” In other words, be evil when commanded to.

There’s a reason those folks actively avoid Christ.

    2. Computer science has always been a product of the ivory tower, which means it leans left to hard left. Google has always hewed to its “Don’t Be Evil” mantra. You just forgot to ask what theirdefinition of “evil” was.

  8. Wait till the Canadian government uses it to criminalize every conservative/libertarian who states publicly that the Liberals are dog-shit-eating, anti-Canadian, property thieving, speech throttling, motherfcking, neo-Marxist pricks.

Ok so maybe just me, but you get the picture.

  9. A company being sued for defamation because of something its AI engine made up is not something I considered.

If this story holds up (not a sure thing), liability issues could put a major kink in publicly available chatbots.
