    I’m tired of holding my nose and voting against ????
    Until the (conservatives) and I use that term loosely, clean house and get rid of lib-lites I will not vote for them.

    1. Unfortunately , Poilievre is “controlled opposition” and many voters do not understand the situation. The situation in the UK is similar where Nigel Farage is also “controlled Opposition”.

      In Canada both major parties are controlled by banks , big business and oligarchs / billionaires where Canadians outside this group don’t get a vote.

      Witness Doug Ford (Ontario Premier ,PC in name only) who is essentially an autocratic Liberal , or Carney who pretends to support Canada but gets his marching orders from the WEF , or Poilievre who supposedly champions freedom of speech but forced 3 of his MPs to publicly grovel for meeting with MEP Christine Anderson at the end of COVID , and only recently released a watered down statement regarding the government show trial of Lich / Barber which could have been a Liberal press release.

      Same here. It’s not enough to just TALK like a conservative…you have to ACT like one, too. I feel the same about Poilievre as I do about Donald Trump: I don’t care what he says, I care what he does. Trump says all kinds of stuff that I don’t agree with, but then he DOES things that I do like and respect. Pierre is the exact opposite: I like the things he says (or at least I used to) but can’t stand what he actually does.

    1. You know Kenji, normally your posts are pretty good. But you do get a bit unhinged with your take on Trump tariffs and our government’s inability to deal with him effectively. And the repeated “ELBOWS UP ORANGEMANBAAD!!” shtick kind of gets old.

      Newsflash 1: Trump hasn’t been honest with you on the US/Canada tariffs, and he never mentions the flip side of the money flowing into the US in the form of Canuck investments, and that offsets any fictitious dairy deficits he’s claimed. Should we put an exit tariff on those ? And finally, the largest trade deficit item is from Canuck oil sands crude: so why not tariff that and full speed with domestic drilling? You know: give Canada the finger and use your own reserves?

      Apparently your refiners like our lower prices and the US doesn’t have the reserves needed to make diesel. So maybe it’s time to put some truth and perspective into the US/Canada tariff thing. Or let it go.

      Newsflash 2: last November you nearly lost your country to a cackling moron and an even bigger moron for VP: they were the stupidest POTUS ticket ever run. And in 2028: what then?

      Don’t mistake me: I’m a huge Trump advocate, tariffs notwithstanding. He’s done amazing things the US needed in all areas and his perseverance is beyond belief, considering half the country hates him or perhaps wishes him dead. But rather than huff and puff about our idiotic federal government – which WE need to defeat, no mistake – you’d be better served trying to convince your fellow countrymen to abandon the Marxist and Islamist bent that has about half your country almost in a state of civil war with you, if it’s not already in progress. Certainly the leftist political violence and Democrat/media coverup and justification for same is in full swing. Are you as concerned with that as our idiot PM’s “elbows up” stupidity? Or how about the prevailing Democrat mentality that justifies (if not celebrates) the murder of Charlie Kirk? Or what about – after 25 years following the worst terrorist attacks on US soil by radical islamists – NYC which was Ground Zero for the attacks is ready to elect a communist islamist as its mayor?

      I want to see the republicans and the US and its system flourish because it’s the last real hope for the West. I like Americans: I think they are a great people and generous to a fault. So if you want to continue to blog piffle about my government and the crap state of my country, then knock yourself out. But you ain’t out of the political woods yet, Toots, by any long shot and don’t kid yourself into thinking you are. There’s never been a harsher left/right polarization in the US and somehow your country has to find healing common ground between the 2 sides or you’ll get a worse Dem government in the future. You might be better served training your focus inward instead of worrying about your neighbor that’s 1/10 your size but seems to occupy more than that proportion of your online concerns.

All he had to say is that he would vigorously negotiate an equitable deal for Canada. That’s all. That’s fair. And that’s tough-enough.         By middle school, I learned that the best way to deal with someone who’s giving you stick is to laugh it off and give the stick back … lightheartedly. That’s how MEN feel each other out. To determine whether your opponent is a violent reactionary… or a good guy who can give it and take it.

        Pierre P. had to believe that the vast majority of Canadians HATE who Trump is … and even more HATE what he represents. So Pierre threw in with the majority of America-hating Canadians. It seems most Canadians are on a knifes edge re: America and Americans … say or do ONE wrong thing … and out pours the America HATE and mockery.

        I LIKE Canada and Canadians. My only son in Law is a Canadian … a Métis Canadian … with full FN’s identity by blood. I was so hopeful that Pierre P. would lead a Canadian revolution as Trump has led a revolution against a hundred+ years of leftist governance. But he turned out to be a Koch Bro. or a Mittens Romney.

        We never had the even slightest chance of winning in a trade war with the US…and Carney and his enablers in the LPC KNEW that (they were just hoping that we didn’t). All that talk about how Canada “had leverage” and “wasn’t afraid to fight back” was laughable and naive. Some people actually believed it, I’m sure…but not the people in power.

When you’re Liberal Lite, and you know it, you should also be smart enough to realize what Erin O’Toole, Andrew Scheer and others have discovered the hard way: liberal voters will always vote for the *real* Liberal Party if you are espousing the same positions as the Liberals. Yes, they told you to “be more moderate” and “adopt policies closer to the center-left”. They said that on purpose, hoping you would be gullible enough to fall for it. AND YOU DID.

      I hate to say this, but I don’t think he made a mistake there. As soon as #Trump made that 51st state comment to #ShinyPony, all hell broke loose with the Normies. Remember that?

      People in -Toronto- were getting their gun license so they could buy a rifle to protect the nation from the Americans. They’re still doing it. Remember that?

      And then there was an election, and the #Lieberals -won-. Because elbows up. Remember that? And we were all shocked, because “are you kidding me they voted for them again?!”

      People in this country are stupider and less informed than you think. Nobody watches the CBC, but those morons will vote to KEEP it every time.

        You’re not wrong, Phantom. As always, you make a thoughtful and reasonable argument.

        But I wanted Pierre Poilievre to at least TRY to do the right thing. To tell the country that, “No, sorry, Canada does NOT in fact have any leverage here despite what the Liberals and their MSM lapdogs are telling you…and trying to aggressively and publicly confront President Donald Trump can only BACKFIRE on Canada and leave us in a worse economic position than we are already in”.

        Then the Liberals, predictably, would immediately attack him and the MSM would stick cameras in his face and demand to know why he was “surrendering” to the Bad Orange Man. At which point Poilievre could simply speak up and TELL THEM THE TRUTH…slowly, patiently and above all factually. Tell them how “Elbows Up!” was a scam designed to fool them into voting Liberal. Tell them how little power and leverage we really have against the economic juggernaut of the US economy, and explain exactly why. Tell them how Mark Carney, after he is elected, will be in Washington *within a week*, hat in hand, begging for a deal.

        Tell them all of that BECAUSE IT IS TRUE. And because you know it is true.

        Then one of two things will happen: either Canadians will come to their senses, be honest with themselves and admit that Carney is wrong and Poilievre is right (and elect the CPC), or they will fall for the scam, reject the evidence presented to them and vote to elect the Liberals again….giving Pierre Poilievre the perfect opportunity to point at them, smile and proclaim that “I TOLD YOU SO!”.

        Under no circumstances was he ever going to ‘out-Liberal the Liberals’ at their own game, which is exactly what he ended up trying (and failing) to do. So what moral high ground does he have now? What vindication is he basking in? How can he now point to Carney and say that Carney did the wrong thing when Poilievre himself foolishly did the *exact same thing*?

        Just a HORRIBLE missed opportunity. A political blunder that a neophyte might be excused for, but not a supposedly seasoned veteran like Pierre Poilievre.

        In order for the supply to meet the demand and the prices to stabilize, you must either increase the supply or reduce the demand….and the supply of available housing will *never ever* catch up if you don’t stop letting in hundreds of thousands of immigrants into Canada every year. That’s not rocket science. It’s common sense.

    The government isn’t the solution.
    Ever.
    Its certainly a thief of wealth no matter how you get it and make it appreciate above inflation.
    Even if PP has actually begun to see what conservatism means, he won’t win the next election.
    There is no fixing it with so many low IQ voters and pathetic assholes allowed to vote.
