      1. I see Bitcoin as a high-tech story and gold as a nervous Nelly / printing too much money story. I have a theory that during the pandemic the government printed money and through it at mom, pop and junior. Everything they bought (food, rent, cars etc) went up rapidly in price due to inflation (dollar devaluation). Now the money is being thrown at the Oligarchs so things like Bitcoin, Nvidia, data centers and power generation stations are getting the inflation. Gold is a nervous hedge against all those over-priced assets.

        1. Steve, I agree. I remember living in the Bytown area of Ottawa in 1973 onwards for several years, as a masters-level economics major attending the U of Zero. Inflation was starting hit back then. I remember back then price-labels were physically stamped on grocery items. I bought a large box of cereal with maybe 8 to 10 labels stamped over each other, all the prices increasing.

          My gut feeling today we face a dangerous world inflation. With a world military buildup, budget deficits everywhere, structural increases in interest rates, something has to give. Price hikes are are a key release valve for all these pressures. I pray the world inflation doesn’t turn to hyperinflation.
