Kudos to Elections Canada

I’ve never been a huge supporter of Pierre Poilievre and still am skeptical of his commitment towards ACTUAL positive change in Canada. But what happened to him in the last federal election was a travesty. It was a clear attempt to subvert democracy and was successful in doing so. With the latest byelection, the same approach of flooding the election rolls with hundreds of people was a clear attempt to prevent Poilievre from getting elected once again.

This “legal malfeasance” clearly was a stab in the heart of the credibility of Elections Canada. So, rather than just sit back and do nothing, they actually took action, introducing an adapted ballot with which one had to actually write down the name of the candidate rather than just check a box. This is completely fair, yet fought back against the efforts of the usual suspects. The results will necessarily take longer to tally, but it looks like Poilievre has won a clear majority.

Let’s hope that the past 4 months have given Poilievre time to reflect on how incredibly terrible Canada has become and to what extent the Lieberals and their minions will go to never surrender power. Assuming he becomes Prime Minister one day, we’ll know if he’s serious about actual reform by whether, in his first year in office, he ends all public funding to the CBC and all other journalists, whether he gives all Canadians full free speech rights, and whether he gives the likes of Tamara Lich and Chris Barber a Record Suspension (aka Pardon). Failure to do all of these things will be a clear indication that he’s just another run-of-the-mill CINO and really doesn’t believe in the future of Canada.

  1. I’ll put $20 on “none of those three things ever happening”, even with a CPC majority.

Same here. He is Liberal Lite, and always will be.

(he just hides it better than Erin O’Toole or Andrew Scheer did…)

  2. PP-head will NEVER become PM so long as Donald Trump remains US POTUS. Because he will HAVE to demonize the Badorangemanbad in order to get elected … and there will be just enough SANE Canadians who will detect his fraudulent elbows out and not vote for him.

PP has made his bed and shat upon it. He’s smeared himself in it.

My advice? Find a TRUE conservative…

The vast majority of Canadians could care less about rights and freedoms. Pee-pee knows it.

    1. Pierre will be battling all the entrenched interests as well.
The various arms of the Liberal Scumbag Party, but more than any group, it will be the federal bureaucracy.
The public sector unions can be told to FO.
      The Bureaucrats are another matter.

  4. Very good observation. All valid points, and very well put, Robert. Defunding CBC, and activist journalism in general, could be completed by coffee time on the first Tuesday of a new government.

    1. “Hey Pierre. Run against Carnage not Trump.”

      Perfectly put, for sure.

He really couldn’t see what was happening, could he? That Carney had manoeuvred him into taking the same position as the Liberals, which would naturally cause all the fence-sitters to breathe a sigh of relief and revert to their natural inclination to *vote Liberal*?

(a lesson that many other ‘progressive’ conservatives have learned the hard way over the years…)

All PierrePoilievre had to do was put on his Big Boy pants and calmly, patiently explain to the Canadian voting public that the Liberal’s “Elbows Up!” strategy was not only a blatant manipulation of their patriotism (a quality, ironically, that recent Liberal leaders have always sneered at because it was seen as “too American”) but complete INSANITY when dealing with a trading partner possessing *ten times our economic might*.

Best case scenario: our economy gets hurt a little before we capitulate to the inevitable.

Worst case scenario: our economy is DEVASTATED before we capitulate to the inevitable.

In no case does Canada actually ‘win’ anything by doing this…it’s all downside. Period. Reality just doesn’t care about your feelings, and no amount of “We have to fight back!” or “We can’t just give up!” or “He wants to take over Canada!” will alter that fact in any way.

Donald Trump’s negotiating tactics are well known by this point, as is the fact that he doesn’t respond well to threats. There is really no excuse for Poilievre not to have known this… we know he’s not a stupid man, so the only explanation left is the obvious one: cowardice. Not a quality I want in my next Prime Minister, sorry. Move on now, and let someone else take over the leadership of the CPC.

  5. the CBC thing. that’s the acid test. they know it,
watch them triple down the ‘cuteness’

  6. Right!
This country ain’t going to last that long.
    No credit to Elections Canada.
    None.
What the “Longest Ballot” BS has shown is how corrupt Elections Canada is..
That is if you failed to notice their one eyed enforcement of the rules, their attempts to intimidate Ezra Levant.
And “Win a big screen TV,if you vote Liberal” from elections past.
    Last election
The failure to count early ballots..
Their wonderful methods of securing early ballots..guess they don’t need protection when you do not intend to count them?
And their wonderful multi result counts and recounts this last general election.
    Elections Canada?
The Good Enough for Government /Best results you can buy?
Good thing Pierre is running in a crusted on conservative riding,or elections Canada would have recounted until Cringy Fake Independent won at 3 am 12 days after the voting booths closed.

    1. Agreed, no kudos to Elections Liberal for being embarrassed into taking actions which makes them appear less corrupt than normal.

  7. The efforts to cheat to keep garbage like Carney, Macron, Lula are ridiculous. The only way the left wins today is by cheating. Pierre’s problem is he’s freaking Romney. How long ago was that again? Get it together.

  8. Well, time for Monsieur Pollievre to show his quality, or lack thereof. Guess we’ll all find out.

  9. His Campaign manager Jenny Byrne’s advice mid election campaign to switch into Lib-Lite and Orange Man Bad mode to sway some Elbows up his way backfired. We see this time and time again with the so called Conservatives, but they don’t seem to learn. With Bryne being gone, PP’s tone and messaging seems (for the moment) to be back on track.
