I Want A New Country

Master negotiators.

The state-owned trading giant has accelerated moves to secure supplies from Australia, the world’s second largest exporter, following Beijing’s decision last week to impose a temporary duty of 75.8 per cent on shipments from Canada following an anti-dumping probe, said the people, who asked not to be named because they’re not authorized to talk to the media.

China has typically relied on Canada for the bulk of its imports of rapeseed and the meal that’s derived from crushing the crop into a product that’s easily fed to livestock and fish. That trade was already under fire when Beijing slapped hefty tariffs earlier this year on cargoes of rapeseed meal in a tit-for-tat response to Canadian duties on Chinese goods.

      1. I wouldn’t be surprised if they also used it for cooking, on the basis that they really don’t care about their peasants and surfs and a little extra Erucic Acid shouldn’t matter

      2. Because when your PM is throwing the plains farmers under an ev Bus … it looks and sounds very much like “rape”.

      3. I worked for Agriculture Canada/Canadian Grain Commission for 37 years. Hadn’t seen anything called rapeseed since the 80’s. Shipped a lot of Canola and Canola screenings. I don’t know where the rapeseed is coming from or going. I believe the two crops are often confused. Maybe someone who actually grows and sells the stuff can enlighten us.

    1. It’s still a variant of rapeseed. Canola was an artificially cross-bred variant of rapeseed that was then given a trade-marked name for CANadian Oil Light Acid. Referring to the rape seed variant by a different name is confusing and makes it more difficult to determine if the seed or the oil derivative is being referenced.

Other nations (such as Ireland) do not refer to this rapeseed variant as Canola. Imagine if the barley variant used for a common beer was renamed Molson Canadian. Even if it became locally popular, that name would continue to be used only locally.

There have since been genetically modified variants of this plant which are now the norm. These GMO variants are resistant to Round Up, the glyphosate of which ends up being found in Canola-related food products.

  1. Protecting a mandated boondoggle (EVs) that will bankrupt the auto industry by sacrificing a 43 billion dollar competitive industry is indicative of the mindless strategy of the Bankster-led regime catering to Fat Bastard and Quebec. Reason 3457952 for western separation.

  2. Somebody has to tell the Chinese that tariffs hurting western producers are seen as positives in Ottawa. To pressure carney et al they need to do the opposite: free trade on food and energy; strong non tariff barriers on financial trade and services – plus withdraw students from. Ontario universities.

  4. Take heart Canola growers. Canada’s chief negotiator PM Carney, also known as the Trump Whisperer, likely has a contingency plan to sell Canola to the up and coming Hamas State he has pledged to recognize this fall.

    1. Correction: you’ll sell the oil to the US taxpayers… who will GIVE it to Gaza. I’m ordinarily a bitter taxpayer … but in this case … If we can purchase and deliver Canadian cooking oils to Gaza and PREVENT more Muslim “refugees” from entering America … I’ll make that deal on behalf of my grandchildren.

      1. Vegemite Subway sandwiches lack the heft of a good Italian combo with layers and layers of MEAT … and make a poor weapon for unhinged TDS leftists.

  5. Oz produces about 25% of Canada’s Canola production. I don’t know if China sees Oz as being a more reliable trading partner than Canada but Oz does have a valid trade agreement with China.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that other nations can sign trade agreements in weeks, in what would take Canada years to negotiate, Canada can’t negotiate interprovincial trade with itself and that’s already included in our garbage constitution…

  6. L – An angry farmer called in to a radio talk show, about the effect of China announcing this boycott being in the neighbourhood of $200 billion loss. Farmers have switched to planting canola as the major cash crop in their rotation due to long term demand, largely, from China.

China, being such a large buyer, they literally set the price. The loss is devastating. Then he asks, why the government is allowing China to illegally purchase Canadian farmland in Saskatchewan?

If the Prime Minister, Mark Carney’s loyalty is to Communist China not Canada. Would he be doing anything different? If so, could that be construed in law, as an attempt on the life of the Crown, the sovereign nation-state of Canada? If so, would that qualify as treason?

Note- This question is above my pay grade. So, who are the brightest Criminal/Constitutional lawyers, who might opine on this hypothetical question?

    1. Well it does answer one question
Carney is as good at being PM as he is at flipping pancakes.

    2. Carney and the WEF are out to destroy Canada. China is helping. A bankrupt corrupt Venezuela type nation on the US northern border hurts the USA. The WEF wants absolute control and that can’t be acheived without social chaos. Finally in the words of Rhett Butler, there are two ways to get rich. One is building a nation. The other is destroying a nation.

  7. Temporary fix. Keep your eyes on India. They had already started selling rapeseed to China. And, they have a lot of it with cheaper distribution costs due to proximity.

  8. We’re just shy of a 60 billion a year trade deficit with those Chicom mofos.
    School is starting soon.
Kick every one of the Mao Youth Spies the fck out.

    1. Ohhhhhhhhh Buddddddyyyyyyyy … you sound like that uneducated, crazy, Orangemanbad who believe trade deficits are baaaad mmmkay. The “true conservative” and economics savant, Killer Marmot has “educated” me that trade deficits are meaningless, and that Trump is out of his depth … and out of his mind for wanting to close trade deficits.

  9. Like with every other resource, “our” puppet politicians create the circumstances to push out the people from ownership of whatever product is being targeted. Once done, that product is allowed to recover.

  10. We must realize that Carney has the weight of the world on his..ah..shoulders.
He has his priorities. They are:
    1.Carney,
    2. Carney, and,
    Most of all,
    Carney.

  11. What I don’t hear….
There seems to be a cycle and excellent market strategies involved in everything China does…
    https://www.dtnpf.com/agriculture/web/ag/blogs/canada-markets/blog-post/2025/08/06/china-continued-dominate-canola-seed
…but I think their tactics have become transparent and will always work absent real scarcity. As the attached article states, they’ve bought a crap-ton already after 100% tariffs in… March?
I know growers like that “quick Richard” are losing profits, but is this loss in any way astonishing?
Well, China’s a Xitty trade partner anyway. This isn’t about EVs. Its standard operating procedure exacerbated by grotesque leadership incompetence coupled with Ottawa’s exponential hatred for Alberta and Saskatchewan.
