    1. Were any girls even in school at an age where they could get pregnant? Back in the day, I knew a teacher in a public school that received kids from a reserve school in grade 7. It was a rare day when an Indian kid showed up for school. For the most part Indian parents voluntarily sent their kids to residential school, likely having already gone there themselves. Kids that were apprehended by social services were involuntarily placed in residential schools as opposed to placement with foster families.
