  3. L – Eastern Canada thought electing a banker, former head of the Banks of Canada and the Bank of England, would be a good idea. Next time do some actual research I.e. ask what he actually accomplished e.i. Massive inflation in the U.K. chaos, and read his book before voting for anther 5 years on the road to being a failed state(post, nation-state).

    “Values” matter, especially so, when putting the future of your nation-state in his claws of the panda.

    1. As the Bank of Canada head, he didn’t do anything different during the 2008 crisis, that every other central banker was doing. He also put interest rates to zero and held them there too long.

      At the bank of England, he borrowed chinese money and opposed brexit.

      then he came back to canada to advise the boy blunder, and may have been the person suggesting to freeze bank accounts.

      But Eastern Canadians fell for his Chicken Dance, and here we are.

    2. There are two summary lines; Canadian Securities and Foreign Securities.

      Negative numbers are sell offs
      Positive numbers are purchases.

      So we have a sell off of Canadian assets and a purchase of foreign assets.

  5. In my vinyl rotation this morning was Dave Mason’s 1970 lp Alone Together … and the cut that really stood out this morning was “Sad and Deep as You”

    Forgive me … but the theme of this lp “Alone Together” and cut “Sad and Deep as You” just seems to sum up the State of Canada today. And Leon Russell on piano is simply incredible!

    But still the greatest cut on the lp is the very last tune … “Look at You Look at Me”. Fantastic guitar solo by Mr. Mason

    1. Thanks for another memory, kenji. Maybe “only you know and I know” what a fine Mason LP that is, far better than his later effort, “Split Coconut.”
      As for the numbers, thanks joe for the explanation. Selling out our assets, eh? Sad indeed.

      1. Yeah … Mason really lost the plot the further he got from his Traffic days. However I saw him a few years ago at a small intimate venue at Lake Tahoe, south shore … and it was all early stuff. I think even HE hates that. And it was ALL his guitar work … fabulous.

        BTW during the concert … Mason commented that he’s made a living for his entire life off royalties from ONE song … Feeling Alright

          Jorma is an excellent, eclectic player.
          He did an homage to traditional folk roots songs called Blue Country Heart. Features him on acoustic and Jerry Doulas on Dobro, Sam Bush on mandolin, Byron House on bass, and the great Bela Fleck on banjo

If we’re making the defense budget a percentage of GDP Then maybe we should make all the various welfare and support payments a percentage of GDP as well, and that would give an incentive to voters to support things that increase the national productivity instead of just assuming that they can milk the cow forever without anyone being encourages to feed it.

    While universal suffrage is a good thing in many ways, it also allows people who are at the public trough to vote themselves more goodies without any regard for there is the economy there to support them or not. Even if they know that they are driving the economy into the ground they have no individual incentive to stop because everyone else is doing it too

    I worry about lowering the voting age to 16 as they are in many countries now because these young people are being brainwashed by teachers who predominantly socialist and have no idea of the real world that provides their sustenance.

    Many people, but not all, in the so-called educational system have never left school, and schools don’t produce anything that you can eat or wear or drive or live in or walk on. They live on ideas and theories with little exposure to real world practice because most of them are highly paid compared to the worker.

    In theory there’s no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

    If they knew that their goodies were dependent on national productivity that might make them look at things a little differently.

    1. No, the real reason #CarkMarney’s portfolio looks like that is he planned this. Crash Canada, drive down all the prices, swoop in and pick up some bargains. Like Stelco. The whole thing, for a song.

      Let us please not pretend that this is an accident, my friends. There is no world in which the #Lieberals are so stupid they stumbled into this situation. They’ve been getting EVERY SINGLE THING THEY WANT for ten years now. They are still getting everything they want.

      This is what they wanted.

  8. Canada devolved into merely a golden goose for the Liberal Party to plunder like angry adolescents. They cooked it by promising the sun and the moon while discouraging trade/investment/industry/agriculture, work/raising families/building homes/staying strait & sober.

    They’re evil. The good news is the Liberal Party of Canada won’t survive, it’s slowly dying a painful and well deserved death. How much of the nation is destroyed in its vengeful wake will be evident sooner than later. Canadians must be re-taught how to grow up and take responsibility for their own lives/communities, free from government corruption & interference, or else they’ll face the same spiteful fate Cuba did. Socialism helps nobody but those at the top, who quickly despise their own unwanted constituents.

    The solution (as AllenD hinted above at 7:14 pm) is to remove or dilute all public sector suffrage, until such time as they can again be trusted with the heavy responsibility of voting objectively, in the interests of their own children, instead of aborting all and their dreams.

      1. The prospect of restricting suffrage is not a new one; even today we don’t practice true universal suffrage, the vote is restricted to adult citizens.

        It’s not at all “dictatorial” to propose that anyone receiving net public funds not be allowed to vote unless and until they are a net contributor to the public treasury; indeed there’s an obvious conflict of interest there. At the very least public sector unions need to be decertified posthaste, they’ve always been nonsensical.

        And I hate to break it to you, but many tyrannies have in fact continued until transforming into other forms of government, or collapsed without a bloody civil war. History’s a complex thing and doesn’t lend itself well to absolutes.
