  1. Funny how now that the “right” candidate has won the election and there’s no chance of another one anytime soon, the court water carriers can safely offer up criticism of Carney.

  2. It seems that it will be an American president who finally kills supply management, because Canadian politicians are too chickensh#t to get rid of this grossly unfair system.

We’re playing Texas Hold Em with a country with pocket aces, and we have a 2 and a 7, off suit.

    And Trump knows it.

    1. I always wondered how American Dairy farms didn’t go bankrupt…with their complete lack of market controls? They use direct subsidies and other other supports from their government…sadly Canada may move instead from having the market subsidize the diary industry to the government directly subsidize the industry as it is done in the States. In my opinion, the real solution to price uncertainty for farmers, is for them to setup a price insurance fund that is built into their businesses where they can put money away in good years for bad years. This could be assisted by the government, by allowing tax flexibility and options on specialized accounts. These accounts akin would be specialiazed for family owned and operated farms. Car salesman sell less cars in December, January, and February (I know my dad was one), and so they have to put money away from the boom months to get through the year. This seems like a simple business system to implement, it is just getting over the initial hump that is the challenge.

      1. A few years ago farm journalist Ian Cumming – who is co-owner of a family dairy farm in upstate New York – wrote a column in Ontario Farmer newspaper responding to assertions by Canada’s dairy cartel that Yank dairy farmers were the recipients of massive subsidies. He laid the subsidy figures out for his own operation; they were a relative pittance.

        1. In Franklin County, where he moved to, there are 298 farmers and ranchers. The total subsidies shared across all of those farms in 2024 is $534,366, or about $1,794 per farm (note that the subsidies are not evenly distributed, as they are broken down into Commodity ($140,759), Conservation ($8718), Disaster($169,899) and Crop Insurance ($214989), some farms don’t qualify for each one)

The USDA also reported that 81% of farms in New york did not collect subsidy payments.

  3. Indonesia is opening up their copper deposits to the USA. At the same time Canada has subordinated ALL their natural resources to the vagaries of Indigenous Medicine Men and women and 2s’s.

Perhaps this was the exact right time to detach from Canadian Natural Resources

    1. Well Canada hasn’t done that….but the Liberals under Trudeau and now Marx Carnage sure as hell have.

  4. Why actually negotiate a proper deal when cool Canadians can show their je ne sais quoi and hate on Trump instead and pretend they are boycotting America or something.

If you don’t like supply management and Re-stamped Chinese goods obviously you are not in the cool kids crowd.

  5. L – “… elbows up and their down, I’m getting confused about where to put my elbows. If we
keep doing this. We’re going to look like a bunch of chickens !”

That’s a meme describing the entire government of Canada, and how the Trump Administration sees it. The corollary being Canada is a failing state. The Canadian ship of state is lilting and taking on water from a a hole below the waterline. Ironically, the cannonball was fired from inside the ship.

  6. Meanwhile the Big3 state media propagandists continue to carry water for Dear Banker.
There will be a tipping point where even the mediots can’t cover the damage.
Damn shame it has to get to that point, but the average Canadian is an oblivious and stupid creature, it deserves the pain for being that way.
