This week, the New York Times experienced an uprising in its ranks and among its readers. The paper was denounced by its own staff and liberal pundits called for the entire editorial staff to be canned. Why? Because The New York Times actually reported news that was deemed harmful to the Democrats, specifically Democratic mayoral nominee Zohran Mamdani.
The newspaper took the additional step of publishing a cringing explanation of why it reported the news that Mamdani lied on his Columbia application in claiming to be black. For liberals, it was an utter nightmare.

Not facing reality is what’s really harmful.
Mamdani is no different then any other socialist. Northrop, VA governor and Trudeau were excused for blackface, Warren was excused for lying about Indigenous heritage starting over 50 years ago. All is forgiven because they are all progressives. These were honest (but consistent) progressive mistakes, they didn’t mean to hurt anyone so it’s all OK. Many from the Indian subcontinent have done the same in US and probably Canadian Universities for decades. Affirmative Action/DEI = a very dangerous ideology.
For Democrats it must seem like End of Times.
Journalists, like academics, are undercutting their own professions by abandoning traditional principles.
Principles like honesty.
What do you mean “are”? They abandoned traditional principles many years ago, if not decades ago.
For example, Walter Cronkite’s reporting on the Tet Offensive, a clear military victory for US and South Vietnam forces.
And Dan Rather’s smearing of George Bush Jr. in the “Killian Documents”.
Cherry picking doesn’t prove much. Journalism has never been perfect. You can always find poor examples in every era.
The last few decades has seen an ousting if the old guard, who at least understood and strived for the traditional principles. Taking their place is a generation that is basically postmodern in outlook, where everything is understood and presented through a political lens.
There are none so blind as those that are willfully blind.
I mentioned just two notable examples that immediately popped into my head out of the gazillions out there.
Going way back the media has always pushed certain narratives and views (conservatives bad, progressives good is and has been its general guiding principle).
They do it by lying, distorting, ignoring the context of an event or comment and ignoring stories that cast deplorables and their champions in a favorable light.
The old guard did it too. The new generation just doesn’t hide it as well as the old pros.
Cherry picking at least proves that cherries are in season. Which puts it ahead of nose picking, in terms of useful activity.
But, but, but … Elon Musk claimed he was “African” too! SMH
