They soundly rejected it because they want “the river to the sea” with Israelis dead or exiled to far flung parts. Gaza was a trial run to see what these people would make of independence and in spite of billions poured into Gaza, they made a complete shambles of it. They clearly demonstrated that they were not worthy of nationhood.
