When The Elbows Go Up In A Forest

And nobody cares.

A couple things going under the radar:

Back in February, the oil refineries in the US started a slow turn. Margin refineries (these are the ones that go about 50/50 Heavy crude/ Light sweet crude) started moving towards Light sweet crude. Decisions were being made for future alterations. Canada provides about 70% of their Heavy Crude for US refining. However, there is a slow move towards refining light sweet crude which is the US basic resource. It’s an expensive switch, and a slow moving one. But, that’s the trend.

Now, today, Marco Rubio (and Trump) announced the end of the war in the Congo with Rwanda. That’s sort of a peripheral issue no one can really relate to as directly effecting us here. However, take a look at the primary export of Rwanda (and keep in mind that Trump and Rubio usually approach these conflicts economically). The primary export is Niobium. This is a chemical used to strengthen stainless steel. It is used primarily to harden oil pipelines and well structures. Just saying. Negotiating positions are ALWAYS fluid.

  1. When 85% of your exports go to one country and in turn that makes you quite wealthy, you should be fellating them not giving them a purple nurple.

And to paraphrase Uhtred of Bebbanburg, Geography Is All.

    1. “When 85% of your exports go to one country and in turn that makes you quite wealthy, you should be fellating them not giving them a purple nurple.”

So true. If only Pierre Poilievre had had the guts to make that case to the Canadian public during the election campaign….or at least even TRY to do so. But no…he had to jump on the “Elbows up!” bandwagon with everyone else and make the rest of his platform irrelevant.

      1. Yup. All the Yellow-bellied Pee-pee bird can do now is continue chirping the same song as the Bobble-headed Schwabsucker.

      2. I believe, if PP would have taken that position, Carnhole would have won a firm Majority(sure, quicker, faster,,, but,)
The general hate of Trump in Canada is stronger than Bush jr.(too many boomers still watching cnn)
The Media propaganda machine kicked into overdrive with the elbows-up bs.
Many people over 50, still think elbows-up is a Canadian thing, and don’t understand it was totally a political partisan operation, enacted on Canadians by the LPC and their Media allies. There are still people who believe in this “buy Canada” even though most everything they buy is not wholly Canadian.
Canadians are like tall grass, they will lean which ever way the Media blows them.

        1. “I believe, if PP would have taken that position, Carnhole would have won a firm Majority(sure, quicker, faster,,, but,)”

Maybe so. But what if he had taken the unprecedented step of talking to the Canadian voters like grownups, and patiently explained how getting into a trade war with the United States would *devastate* our economy? How our entire economy is the size of California’s, how we do 79% of our trade with the US but they only do 17% of their trade with us, how any tax/tariff measures we could impose might temporarily inconvenience five or six US states but the US retaliation would plunge Canada into an immediate recession? How ‘cutting off our nose to spite our face’ might grant some of us some short-term glee, only to be followed up with long-term financial pain? How there is NO POSSIBLE WAY for Canada to come out of this with any sort of ‘win’ no matter how how much we spin it, and that the Liberals and their media lackeys are only trying to sucker Canadians into voting Liberal yet again because they despise Conservatives and Conservative values so much?

          No?

How about if he had urged them to support *talking to* the Americans instead of challenging them to a fight that they know they can’t lose? Maybe sitting down like calm, rational adults and negotiating with them instead of throwing a tantrum like angry toddlers? Yes, Donald Trump said a couple of annoying things about Canada. THAT’S WHAT HE DOES. That’s how he negotiates. How dumb are we to fall for that tactic?

          No?

On second thought, Carl…you’re probably right. Looking at all the businesses suddenly advertising how ‘Canadian’ they are and people apparently falling for such a blatant marketing gimmick, we as a nation just aren’t collectively bright enough to recognize the truth when it is placed right in front of us. We catch a quick glimpse of reality, and actually *turn our heads* to avoid seeing any more of it. We therefore deserve every bit of what is about to happen to us. 🙁

          1. I hear you Fred,,, but it seems Canadians always need to learn things the hard way,,, with hind sight.

        2. “Canadians are like tall grass, they will lean which ever way the Media blows them.”

That right there. Since few read anything anymore, it’s that big-screen TV that spews big lies all day, and Canadians are dumb enough to think they’re getting the truth.

    2. When you make a crap load of money refining another country’s oil, you should be fellating them, not giving them a purple nurple (whatever that is). You definitely shouldn’t be slapping tariffs on said oil. That’s shooting yourself in the foot.

      1. Strictly for the purpose of edification, a purple nurple is the act of taking a person’s nipple between the thumb and forefinger and then twisting it around roughly.

    3. One day I hope to see the idiot leftist voters pushing shopping carts through alleyways and shuffling with duct-taped pizza box shoes still smug in their assertions that “WE BEAT TRUMP!!” You can’t despise the Left in this country enough.

Good Last Kingdom reference; I preferred it to Vikings. Now Canucks can spend more to stream that and other shows thanks to our new Prime Fascist carnage.

Not me, though. I cut the cord a few years ago and Kodi my way through everything.

  3. Your EU globalist banker is pivoting Canada’s Trade relationships to the EU. Good luck with that. Perhaps you can dump some cheap ChiCom reprocessed steel in Europe?

    1. “Your EU globalist banker is pivoting Canada’s Trade relationships to the EU. Good luck with that.”

Yes, that was Trudeau senior’s great wish as well. Gave Canada the metric system and official bilingualism, and not much else.

      1. Hey maybe snowbirds could go to Spain longer than 90 days?
Lotsa places in the outback, forget Madrid, Barcelona, the Costa del Sol.
Save exchange on Cdn dinero to euro.
And we get that blonde nazi overlord Von Landergenderism

      2. Don’t forget Multiculturalism, another boffo libscum idea that’s made this country what it is today

  4. I bought the Trump Tariff Tantrum dip thrown by the coordinated mass selloff of the market by TDS-suffering institutional investors. I bought the DOW at 36,611 just about two months ago … the Dow closed UP 432 points today to close at 43,819 today. That’s a market gain of 7,208 points/36,611 = +20% In just two months.

Ohhhhhhhh Mommmmmaaaaa certain Marmots chided … you could LOSE it ALL!!! When Trump plunges the entire world into a deep, deep, depression !!! Ohhhhhhhhh mommmaaaaaaa … Smoot Hawley!!!! Oh My!

    Idiots.

    1. I also took large positions in the:

      S&P … bought at low of 4,982 and now it’s 6,173 … 1,191/4982 = +24% in 2 mos.
      and
      qqq … bought at low of 402 and now it’s 548 … 146/402 = +36% in 2 mos.

Yeah … the FAKE institutional stock market sell-off was one of the BEST buying opportunities of my lifetime. And yeah … this pensioner who needs to protect his savings in retirement just threw caution to the wind … because I know how TDS works. I know how the leftist anti-Trump globalist leftists think. They just wanted a SHOW of shock and awe … to SCARE the little people into selling their 401k’s at the bottom of a FAKE dip. To make Trump look bad.

No … I didn’t “catch the falling knives” … I’m catching gold coins raining from heaven. All thanks to being a shitload better “Trump Whisperer” than Carney ever hopes to be.

  5. The “Elbows Up!” retards are in for a shock. The EU, which will soon be holding this “Post National” state’s sovereignty, won’t be purchasing any more Kanadian origin goods than it previously had done. With no more US market, thanks to Crooked Marx Carnage and his “ElbowsUp!” retard supporters, Kanada will be finished.

    1. Kanada will be finished.

Good. The quicker this shithole of a country hits bottom, the quicker WEXIT is upon us.

  6. Look for Carney to go to the well again and gin up the flying monkey base with the “Elbows Up” and “Canada is not for Sale” schitick, cause y’know… Trump is a bully, blah blah blah.
I guess this means Mike Meyers will have to cut his vacay short on Lake Champlain to help drive the point home for those stupid Canadians who walk among us.
I wonder how far Meyer’s cottage is from Bernie’s dacha? Questions…questions.

  7. Dismiss the risk? Of course they did as Carney is taking us toward the EU. Aim is to piss off the US and instill fear into Boomer Canada. Create a crisis and implement a solution. In this case to join the EU. This has been the real aim of the Carney gov’ts Machiavellian strategy. Started 5 years ago when Carney entered the Trudeau era as his principal advisor. This whole charade has been planned down to the last detail. The EU has a digital tax so it only makes sense in Carney’s mind to follow suit. After all his C2 bill has a $10K cash limit on transactions. The EU has had that limitation for years. Next? Central Bank Digital Currency is coming to a central bank near you.

  8. If indeed the U.S. is ramping up sweet crude refining, Alberta will have no choice but to join the Union. Thank you Mark Carnhole, I can’t wait for my bank account to grow buy 40% overnight and issue my invoices in USD! The only downside being the cheap booze, having just reversed a mild case of fatty liver. It’s also only a matter of time until Ottawa adopts the Euro. Or the yen.

    1. I wouldn’t lose faith. Alberta’s position of secession just got a push, IMO. I’m convinced that Carney’s approach with Alberta is stalling. He’ll make promises that can’t be applied in the immediacy. All he has to do is derail the momentum of a secession movement (which will ramp up with the next election in that Province). The US trending towards Light sweet crude refining is a LONNNNNNNNNG and expensive process. But, it’s, also, an obvious one to witness. There’s a reason the US hasn’t built a new refinery in nearly a half century. BUT, even a slow creep of retooling creates a time frame which doesn’t support a stalling Canadian federal legislature.

Another issue Alberta will have to overcome is distribution of products. They are guaranteed dock access based on international rules. But, imagine the increased efficiency of direct pipeline access to refineries and northwest US docks. Keep in mind the US recently struck a unique deal with Nippon Steel to ramp up production in the US. Now the US has access to niobium. That’s a couple pieces of a pipeline(s) puzzle.

      1. I agree Orson, but we need a Conservative to give it to the voters bluntly.
I have the country’s state a bit beyond win or lose it always was, but Conservatives lost their gall.
I’m in Ontario, it doesn’t make me happy to say this but I wish every province that wants to abandon this heap of shallow souls the best of Iuck . I’m staying here I sort of owe to the “old” boys .

  9. You know we can argue till we are blue in the face …. It gets way more honest and easy to accept the fact the “nice” right will never convince them otherwise.
This country is getting reamed by Trump absolutely reamed, and it will always be somebody else’s fault but ours even though we have become an unprincipled whore of a country, and what’s worse much of the country is going along getting the shaft and liking it.
And how is any Conservative of any principal going to tell them the truth and wake them up!
Because that’s what needs to happen.
Or the bottom is going to do it.
(pretty amazing watching this gong show . Starting to see cracks in people now though, they can feel it.)

    1. Would that it were so Mugs, but Canadian sheeple will be the last people on earth to hear the truth, they can’t handle it. Childish, spoiled, and weak humans need mommy government to make their boo-boos better. Shithole.

    2. “And how is any Conservative of any principal going to tell them the truth and wake them up!
Because that’s what needs to happen.
Or the bottom is going to do it.”

I wish I could disagree. If no ‘conservative’ is even willing to *try*, rock bottom is the only thing that will wake the sheep up.

      1. If the government tells people that they’re doing great, they’ll believe it because they need to, all evidence screaming at them that the country is tier 2 at best won’t matter. We still have free healthcare, they’ll say, despite 1 in 5 who don’t have a doctor, and those who do having to eventually endure treatment from third world butchers in crumbling hellholes. Weak and coward sheep deserve to be sheared, slaughtered and eaten. Shithole.
