  1. I was about to make a snarky, sarcastic comment but I can’t. Real human beings are being affected. Jobs. Mortgages. All sacrificed upon some altar to a perverse ideology that says that emissions in one part of the world must be stopped at all costs while emissions in other parts of the world are fine.

    Pipelines. Bridges. Electrical Infrastructure. All require steel. Will they be built? No. They won’t. We’ll print money. We’ll tax the living crap out of the few remaining businesses and over-regulate the rest.

    Do I agree with these tariffs? Of course not! But, they exist and there is nothing any of us north of the 49th can do about them. We can do something productive to lessen their impact. But we won’t because we are lazy, self-indulgent, self-absorbed and stupid

    No referendum will be necessary. Events will overtake the political process

    That sounds like the ChiComs building high rise ghost towns … funding projects without a purpose or need. Just to look busy. Just to demonstrate “economic activity”. Or is the “stop gap funding” simply welfare? Paying workers in an idle industry to do nothing?

    None of that kind of activity CREATES WEALTH. Making things that are needed, and actually utilized to create additional wealth … creates wealth. Well Canada … looks like you’re now a “Service” economy. Lots of people shuffling paper … creating nothing. Your government handing out eco-dollars backed by lots of virtue signaling.

    OTOH … it’s nice to see Steel production return to America. Steel TOWN BABY!!!

    1. I think you will be shocked at how wrong Trump is with the Tariffs. US Steel, GM, Ford, Chrysler did not lose business solely because of some unfair competition. They lost business to a great extent because their unions were terrible. I’m not talking about wages, it’s all the other crap unions insist on in the workplace that make it impossible to make a decent product at a competitive price. There’s a reason the Japanese, and German car makers located in the south. Toyota put their North American tech center in Michigan, = salary jobs. they put their hourly car plants in Kentucky.

        However it is existentially unsustainable for America to get all her steel from the ChiComs and ChiComs via Canada. Yet the average new 40yo mom in Palo Alto wants to chase every last industry, and manufacturing enterprise OUT of America. She wants perfectly clean air around her darlings school … she especially is upset that global warming has caused Canada to burn … and the smoke is blowing into the Bay Area. Yeah … SHE … and those SHE votes for have chased industry OUT of CA and America. And they are just about to chase the last gasoline refinery OUT of CA, thus guaranteeing $10.00/gal. gasoline in CA.

        Trump is CORRECTLY endeavoring to reverse the rot. Tariffs are a tool. And your PM is a FOOL. Again.

  6. For the love of God stop blaming Carney. He is just a symptom of the slacker socialist unionized Canadian dysfunction. Blame yourselves. Canadians did this. Canada is semi-retarded when it comes to competitive economics. Canada needs to fail….now! Canada needs to be re-invented and re-incorporated. Why is a nominally developed sophisticated country so hell bent on self-destruction while blaming others for everything?

      Whoever the Conservative leader is going to be .( I wish it was Matt Strauss) They better put it straight with Canadians.
      Maybe the Conservatives will finally take a chance and at least go down with some friggin principals.

      2. Forget Carney. He is an irelevant flea on the American dog. This is a huge opportunity for rank and file Canadians to upend and destroy forever the Canadian federation and start over as a representative Republic. 1. Reincorporate Canada as a true constitutional Republic exactly like the USA. This will forever marginalize and destroy the Crown and its globalist handmaidens the Laurentian elite. This will sideline the aboriginal Liberal fueled putsch. This will empower and enrich Canadians as never before.
        2. Join Trump and the USA as a new economic union like the EU. Adopt the US Dollar as the new currency. Eliminate all tariffs and borders between the two countries like the Schengen Zone in the EU. Join our militaries and justice systems.

        This is a massive huge world altering opportunity. In one fell swoop Canada goes from a pathetic navel gazing nation of losers, to some of the strongest, richest and most capable people overnight. It’s a no-brainer.

    Any chance that it’s steel pipe?
    That would give Canada’s steel industry something to do and something to produce and sell.

    1. I believe Nordstream II was a steel pipe … and you know what happened to that. And Canada has plenty of eco terrorists, Muslim terrorists, Indigenous terrorists, and assorted anti-industrial terrorists who would probably attack your pipe … every week. And the RCMP would be too busy solving all the church burnings which is apparently taking decades to solve.
