  2. I think everyone should have offshore companies, just out of reach of CRA or any other gov’t compliance reach.

    If you’re caught in illegalities of any type, a money laundering charge at your BC based casino for example, which may result in time in “the big house” be certain to have everything translated into Mandarin, speak only in Mandarin, have all documents kept in Mandarin, have all your witnesses speak Mandarin, that way, after years of the RCMP “investigations” they’ll just through their arms up and say it’s all too complicated for them and drop the charges.

  3. Watched it this morning, coffee time. And it was pushed by YouTube, probably because I liked the 1st ‘episode’, from IOM. It’s entertaining actually. With this 2nd episode I think Ezra invented a new thing: forensic tourism. And the forensic part is both political and accounting/financial.
    Interesting how the PR from NY redirected to London guy who tried to deflect/muddle everything with laywerese. But Ezra is lawyer too. Anyway, of course he will get (if any) non-answers at best. And if he insists, the veiled lawfare threats will ramp up. Actually I’m pretty sure that an army of corporate lawyers from Brookfield is on the case of Rebel News, ‘as we speak’. For example, why he’s using name Carney in website thecarneyfiles.com.

  4. The dirty little (not so) secret is that corporations don’t pay taxes. Taxes are a cost of doing business and are added in to the other costs such as labor, materials, overhead, etc. Corporations collect and pass through taxes for governments.

    A responsible CEO will seek to legally minimize the corporation’s tax bill. This is a cost savings or cost avoidance and what the company chooses to do with the savings is up for discussion. Bonuses for the execs? Lower prices to keep a competitive edge and their customers win? Increase the profit pot for a better dividend payout? A bit of all of those?

    The problem here is that Carnage is now on the other side of the fence. Whereas before, his objective was to minimize taxes for Brookfield and their holdings. But now his job is to maximize tax revenue to pay for all the wasteful put-a-torch-to-your-hard-earned-money government spending and graft that is coming down the pike.

    I don’t know Canadian tax laws and laws governing businesses in Canada. Carnage may be guilty of setting up Brookfield for known tax fraud. And then again maybe it’s all perfectly legal. I dunno. But at a minimum, he’s guilty of a very cruel and callous display of hypocrisy by demanding more taxes from already overtaxed Canadians, directly or indirectly through taxes on corporations.

      But I hate those tax avoiders who then tell me I have to pay more tax.

    3. unless MPs pass a bill stating that Brookfield is ineligible for any contracts from the government of Canada for as long as Carney is PM, then Brookfield will be getting lots of government contracts for things like modular housing, and rental apartments and whatnot.

      The corruption will be in your face, and nothing will be done about it.

        @JD – I could be wrong, but I seem to have seen something about Carnage severing his ties to Brookfield very shortly after the election. But still, your point is dead on.

        So, I’ll give you three guesses (first two don’t count) which certain ex-PM, when he becomes an ex-PM, will very likely be rehired by Brookfield with a lovely multi-million dollar Welcome Back! And thanks for all the fish. bonus.

          a) given up his Brookfield stock options?
          b) Carnage is very familiar with Brookfield’s business plan. As PM he is uniquely positioned to enact legislation and accompanying regulations to benefit Brookfield.
          The penalty for liberal unethical conflicts of interest? … $100.
          c) Even if Carnage recuses himself from voting on legislation favouring Brookfield, his cabinet colleagues and Liberal MPs will know their duty (wink, wink, nothing to see here folks).

    Just refer to how Carney’s visit to the Oval Office was treated as a success because he uttered the words “not for sale” while being humiliated.
