2. It was apparently the “pub’s” opening night. There must – MUST – be some, ahem, interesting back story here that the police and/or media are neglecting to tell (there usually is). I could check Reddit, but that’s turned into a a slightly more edgy version of the Toronto Star – and is equally censorious – so I’m not expecting much there either

3. As soon as I saw the word Scarborough I knew something bad happened. But not to worry, the mayor of Toronto is on to it: “Mayor Olivia Chow, in a post on social media, said she was “deeply troubled” hearing about the shooting.”

5. Some are claiming that it was revenge for the shooting in Markham earlier in the week, and blaming it on the “tow truck war” that’s been going on for the last 20+ years, that the TPS are utterly incapable of dealing with.

   1. The Toronto police is singularly “incapable” of dealing with this because certain municipal (and perhaps provincial and even federal) powers that be explicitly want them to be incapable of dealing with it

         Tow trucks are a no-go zone for Ontario’s commercial vehicle enforcement officers, the Toronto Sun has learned.

         When the Sun contacted Transport Minister Caroline Mulroney’s office about the directive ordering Ontario TEOs to stand down on tow truck enforcement, spokesperson Christina Salituro denied its existence.

         “At no point has MTO instructed enforcement officers to halt all enforcement of tow trucks,” she wrote in an email to the Sun.

         Enforcement officers across the province verified the directive, and a copy — signed by directors Chris Levin and Ian Freeman — was viewed by the Sun.

         Three guys with pellet guns thought they were going to rob the place and got scared.

7. So far it has been guesses from all sides… with that in mind I’m going with this being an initiation or training exercise for the 3 involved shooters. I can’t imagine the quality of shooters has fallen so far as to have 3 individuals shooting at presumably unarmed patrons of Piper Arms (only a bit ironic?) with only a front door, emergency door, and kitchen door available, while only being able to make direct hits on 6 individuals? as the others were broken glass injuries, turned ankles from stepping over the fallen…
   If one was to simply take aim at the exit doors, in the ensuing panic those patrons would all be running at the same direction, and if it was only a lesson to be shown here, they could simply aim at the legs of those running past. I’m told that gun violence is “out of control” in Toronto, why didn’t some of the out of controlled masses shoot back?

   Was this the gang who couldn’t shoot straight?

   Restaurants are in the top five businesses for money laundering. Interesting to note…this “franchisor” does not appear to actively recruit franchisees like other chain restaurants do…and it’s not easy to find on the internet who pulls the strings at their head office. Might be nothing…might be not.
