  2. This was inevitable. The NDP is bankrupt. They have no money to fight an election of any kind. So with Justatwit surging in the polls, he sees their slim-to-none prospects vanishing to nothing if there was an election. Trump gives him an excuse.

    1. At the moment it looks like Libranos stopped surging in the polls. There were two polls on Feb 24th that suggested that Libranos caught up (Ipsos and Ekos), between 25th and 3rd we had four polls all showing Cons in the lead: Abakus with 12 points, Nanos (smallest sample but only telephone one) with 2 points, Innovative Research with 7 points and Leger (yesterday) with 13 points. Poly market shows Poilievre with 65 to Carnage 36.

      So all in all not as great as could be but still strong Cons, Libs steady and below Cons, and NDP withering away. Now that Ford is done stealing wind from Poilievre it is only Trump that keeps prompting up Libranos.

      1. The Nanos poll is self selecting. Some time ago, I put my name up for polling with Nanos. For the first little while I took part in some of the polls, but got bored with it and haven’t participating since. Self selecting polls (those without “margin of error”) are worthless.

        1. 1. Nanos polls have a margin of error. It is silly to suggest they don’t. What do you think margin of error is?
          2. You can put your information in a database and the pollster may select you or not. The selection process is never perfect, there may be a correlation between response rates and demographics or particular preferences (like people preferring not to reveal information on some political issues) etc. It is a very difficult game to get a representative sample. Nanos selected you for some polls because your demographics reflected what Nanos thought their model needed to get a representative picture of the population in their sample.

        2. 3. Nanos poll was slightly above 1K observations. So from their database that is probably hundreds of thousands of potential observations they have sampled about 1K. Their assumption was that their sample would generate a representative picture of the population. That assumption is based on years of experience and without knowing their sampling design you’re not in a position to criticize it. I doubt the accuracy of the poll, but your understanding on how the polls was conducted is lacking severally.

  6. So, who here thinks that we will actually have an election in October now? The tariff war is going to bring what’s left of our economy to a grinding halt and I predict that Carney, once installed, will invoke the Emergency Act and suspend elections until things settle down. So never.

    1. The US armed forces would take three days to take out Carney and any of the boneless wonders who pass for Canadian soldiers who are daft enough not to desert at the first shot fired in anger.

      So whether Mark bothers with an election doesn’t matter. When Trump decides he’s had enough of Mark, that’ll be the end of Mark. Guaranteed.

It’s obvious that KT never met any actual CF combat members.There were very good reasons why Canadian forces were recognized as the best infantry stationed in Germany in the 1970s. There were reasons why direct participation of Canadians in Afghanistan was so desired by the US and British.

          2. John, your comment about them fighting for Canada, not Carney, is entirely correct. All members of the forces live by the Canadian military credo. It was born in April 1917 when the Canadian army achieved the impossible at Vimy Ridge. It was confirmed repeatedly during WW2 in Italy, Normandy, the liberation of the Netherlands. And again during the horrors of Korea and the severe fighting in the Yugoslav civil war.

            They serve and fight because they are defending Canada and its values, not some twerp called Carney.

          2. Folks… I tried. It took all my strength to resist responding to yet another of gym’s witty retorts /s, but I just couldn’t let this go by.
            I worked with the CAF in several contracts. I have the utmost respect for people who sign up to defend (what’s left of) this country.
            I know of many veterans as well as military personnel, and I can tell you that my personal experience with the f0rces’ personal has been nothing but stellar. These people command respect, and they’ve earned it, and so it’s one thing for gym to spew his tirades all over this blog, it’s another when he starts tarnishing the reps of those who signed up to serve.
            As much as I admire the good people leading the military life, like everything else in this global landscape, it’s the leadership that I have a problem with. A leadership who has shown little to no support for the fighting f0rces, and that needs to change.
            As for gym, I’d say hand him a rifle and send him off to the front lines for him to get a taste of what it’s like to be a soldier, but on second thought, handing a gun to someone like gym would be dangerous. Not only to himself, but to everyone around him.

    2. Shamrock, agreed. More rope is always a good idea. Carney showed just how useless he was at politics after his dismal performance at both Liberal leadership debates. When he climbs in the ring with Polievre, it will be beer and popcorn time. Carney’s only experience has been with corporate boardrooms and conferences.

Even who can vote for the new leader (dictator) appears to be subverted . Somehow questioning this process and the democray of it is a “stupid” comment according to some. There is far more that has happened than I have time to detail ,including what appears to be criminal, so it is my opinion that most of the problems we will be experiencing are made in Canada.

      Not sure how jagmeet Singh gets to be in power, Australia and NZ the power passes to some other elected official in the same party as decided by the party, they go to the governor general to be appointed prime minister, they may then call for a immediate election.

      Parliament may itself call for a dissolution but Parliament needs to be in session to do that.

  27. Singh has a strange ad out, saying that he is an immigrant po’r boy, who never wanted to be a politician. He learned in law school, that Canada’s justice system favours elites. So instead of working in the legal system, he became a politician with zero experience to run anything.

  28. I think by now the lieberal strategy should be very clear.
    First, the turd won’t resign immediately when the party selects a new leader, based on his response to a reporter’s question during his presser, when he said that he had to have discussions with the new leader to figure out a transition period.
    Well, ya know what? Carnage doesn’t have a seat in the house, and we can’t have a PM sit in the gallery, so guess who stays on the thrown: King Turd!
    Now Jughead Singe signals that we shouldn’t have an election immediately, backing away from his promise to pull the plug on this illegitimate government at the earliest convenience. That’ll be the second time he broke that promise.
    There are those that are saying that there are signals that an election will be called for late April, but I’m not so sure. At this point, there could be a number of twists between now and then, but I am sure of one thing: That the lying lieberals will do just about anything to cling to power, so don’t be too surprised if things don’t go according to plan. It’s quite possible that we won’t see an election in 2025, or even 2026, if ever. The turd will declare another emergency and cancel any elections, save a byelection to get Carnage a seat so that he can assume the role of PM.
